What makes you think the Precursors were even gone in the first place? They are a multiversal species who've been said to have seeded many galaxies and existed beyond their physical forms. The Precursors not fighting back may just show how the forerunners never even had the ability to kill them in the first place. The Flood on the other hand is also the sole reason why ancient humanity even survived. If the Primordial hadn't made that lie about humanity having the cure, the Didact would've certainly wiped out humanity. That just points towards the fact that the Precursors chose humanity to hold the mantle and were to be tested in some way which is what the Flood may very well be. They've also stopped attacking humanity at a certain point during the war for some odd reason which again points more towards the idea that the Flood are actually the Precursors in disguise as they were also said to have the ability to shape shift. They've lived for over a 100 billion years and existed way before the Halo universe even began, it's highly unlikely they've suddenly just dissapeared. The forerunners couldn't have been the only species that they created to turn on them in the 100 billion years they've existed.
No, if the Flood won, they would eventually starve to death because they done fucked up by assimilating everything, and then the galaxy would be truly devoid of life.
A transgalactic flood would start to “farm” biomass. This would start a full matter transformation from minerals to biomass. I disagree. If the Flood were capable of farming, they would have done it by now. I don't think they're capable. In the end, they are parasites, and their reason for existing is the Precursors undying resentment for those that destroyed them, and anything like them.
It's scary to think that by the end, 99.9% recurring of all matter in the universe, not just life, would be turned into the Flood biomass through this farming. They would only keep what they need to create technology.
I feel like the only true ending Halo could have would be the flood reaching such a powerful state that every faction you've played against comes together in a last ditch effort and the Master Chief activates the rings himself, destroying all life. Of course it would feel like the last 2 decades we've spent in this universe were a waste, but in contrast it would fit in with how minuscule our timeline really is and how little of an impact we've had as a species since ultimately life continues it's cycle as it has been forever ago. Simply the rings would fire, and the camera would pan a desolate and eerily silent darkness before focusing on a ring and playing the remnants of the classic Halo theme we know.
Note: What I'm about to say is pure theorycrafting and is backed up by sweet FA. What if The Flood physically cannot win. The Flood are, after all, quite simple despite all the lore. Comsume, Replicate, Collect. Consume all biomass, replicate more flood, collect intelligence for further consumption. However, if they collect all the biomass available and can no longer replicate and no longer collect more intelligence...what then? "So what!" I hear you cry. "Then they win and can just do whatever!" But that, I say, contradicts their main goals. In order to continue to gain more intelligence by consuming, they have to have things to consume. Consuming everything would leave them with no goal and no reason to propagate. So how does The Flood overcome this self-defeating issue? They defeat themselves. Not after they've already consumed everything, but long before. The Flood make errors in judgement that completely cripple themselves by accident on several occasions. They send all their forces to The Ark despite the fact Earth was ripe for the taking AND Shipmaster was about to glass Truth into the void. In coming to The Ark he crashes his mobile, teleporting fortress and tethers it to a single spot on the ground. Thus, allowing Cheif to blow it up and regress The Flood to a Pre-Gravemind state. Even during the Forerunner - Flood War, how were the Forerunners even able to activate the rings when The Flood were in a Keymind-capable stage? Their intelligence would be astronomical, if we thought The Gravemind was omnipotent in the games, think about having hundreds of them all working in unison. It's silly to think The Forerunners had a snowballs chance in hell to even get into the control room. But they do, regressing The Flood to the feral stage. This isn't something the Flood would be aware of, however. Just like how we are unaware of our unconscious choices, The Flood are unaware of its. They make mistakes not because they were able to make a better choice, but because that is the right choice for The Flood to continue to Consume, Replicate, Collect.
The Flood heading to the Ark was not a mistake, or at least, is only a mistake in hindsight. If the flood arrived just 5 minutes later to the Ark, the Halos would have been activated. The Gravemind didnt have any slipspace-capable ships to spare because they were used to transport High Charity, and rerouting High Charity to Earth to drop off some small ships was simply not an option. The stakes were just too high for the Gravemind to spare anything. Also, the chance that the Flood lose because of the Halo Array was astronomically higher than the chance that they stop the Halos but lose anyway because of chief, so it was a risk they had to take.
Actually, the true goal of the Flood is peace, at least to the Gravemind. In the last mission of Halo 3, there is some secret dialogue from the Gravemind. It sounds almost sad that it's about to die, along with the rest of the Flood. I believe that the Gravemind views the total assimilation of all life as the only way to obtain everlasting peace.
I'd imagine they'd eventually retain their memories of being precursors and try to creat life again in hopes that they don't get a reoccurrence of their created turning against them again.
Flood evolves to have emotions and then feels guilt and lets us live with our meme collection. Thus recreates forerunner tech that remakes lifes genetics codes. Restarts life in the galaxy so that it isnt alone again.
since the flood are one of the many forms of the precursors i'm pretty sure once the entire galaxy is taken they'll return to their pre-forerunner forms and re seed the galaxy, the primordial that was captured by the humans made it specifically clear that the flood and the precursor species are one and the same which explains how they can be in all of the tech tiers all at once
Would the flood become intellegent enough to create a sort of species breeding where they sort of let a ton of humans, for example, grow in population and then take half of them to add to their mass. Imagine living in a world where you're just a flood farm
This is important... would their need to consume all overpower their hyper intelligence? I would really like hidden to address this say what he thinks would happen because I'm really curious too
MrJoshwa 97 or they could just eat the planet... mass isn't infinite you know!(tho the flood seems to be able to generate it from nothing so for them it might)
@@tech-priesttoast2686 fair enough would take a while to eat a planet. Or at least you would think. But then if they dont actually need a food supply then why did the forunners create the halo rings to destroy all life in the galaxy to starve the flood
@@tech-priesttoast2686 no they can't just eat the planet. They reproduce with just any type of mass. Its specificly bio-mass. Basically humans, animals etc.
Kian Hopkins interesting idea. 2 different spores apart would evolve different surely Although a lot of it would be hypothesised I wouldn’t mind sitting down for a 20min made up battle
When you have a number has a repeating decimal of 9, it is equal to the next number. So 99.9 repeating % = 100%. Proof: 1 = 3/3 = 3(1/3) = 3(.3 repeating) = .9 repeating.
The scary part is that an infection like this probably is already happening in a galaxy far from here and is slowly creeping it’s way towards the milky way😬😬
I just posted something about that. And what that possibly could entail if it were to happen. But since the flood (graveminds) are essentially genetically corrupted precursors they could technically evolve into precursor like stage via consumption of biomass but they would probably look much different than the original precursors. So them evolving into floodcursors is more accurate.
@@michaelleahcim2869 My headcannon is a bit more darker in this. I think that there is no real difference between the "flood" and "precursors", that infact both are the same thing completly. That the Floodcursors actually reached their ultimate victory millions of years ago already and it recognized that problem that is stagnation. So, to overcome this, the floodcursors seeded worlds with life, like a farmer seeds life to a field, cultivates it, and then in the end harvest it. Which could explain why the ancient humans where so horrified about the truth the primordial gave them, that no matter the outcome, in reality they are little more than cattle. Even more so, i think the species that is the "holder of the mantle" isnt so much the master of the field, but nothing more than the sheparding dog that guides the cattle into a specific needed direction.
If the flood were real and attacked my city, I would blow up my entire body so I don't feel the horrifying pain of being infected and mutated before I die AND The Flood would not be able to infect my body and my intelligence due to the fact that I would be in a million pieces, it's a win-win for me! Only, I don't live, well, I wasn't going to live anyway........... RIP ME!
Maybe after winning, the gravemond might start a process of reviving the primordials and erase the corruption the originated them as the threat to their existence is no more.
Do you think an AI infected by the logic plague could continue to develop new technologies, possibly even a way to travel to different dimensions if no assimilated species has?

What if the Flood have already infected the universe, and they left the Milky Way to let Humanity and the other races think they’re alone, so that they will create Universe jumping technology, and they’re just waiting...
Alex Rodriguez BUT if something as thé flood would manifest and spread quickly, thé response from thé imperium would be all thé more violent AND quick to squach this new threat before it sprawl out of control
Kumatsu Howl I think the flood would infect 682 unless before he becomes infected he somehow creates a self defense immune system that would kill the flood that tries to infect him
God, I remember watching your video saying you were finishing your final year then going into full time TH-cam, so glad I’ve been apart of this for so long.
It's possible he could possibly do that, if only by only, Alex is has some plot armour. Rather why not have Alex mercer version in this universe. Someone who is infected but capable to be independent, and then become a threat to the flood. He or maybe she, has all the power flood have and capable to create weapons from his symbiote, and he control a whole biomass of galaxy of flood. Probably he/she already in war with the flood. This event will be called Halo:Secret Flood War.
7:07 maybe if the key-mind or mega-mind (or whatever forms at this point) combines the technology of all the species it has ever infected, it could try to escape via space bridge or stargate or something.
But once flood has taken over everything it must logically starve to death. When all flood is dead of starvation and the biomass will decompose and reset the universe.
zyriuz2 I bet they would start farming living organisms. They could even genetically modify something to make it convert rocks and gas into bio mass as quick as possible. You have to remember the key minds would be extremely smart at this point
Heliverus Calion yeah but they wouldn’t be getting any smarter Also I think that’s kind of a discrepancy too because the whole point of the halos is that it kills the floods food
@@oreodepup thats what im saying like if the flood wouldnt need food to exist then why build the halos to work in the way that it kills the floods food?

If the flood are so intelligent I'd image they'd be smart enough to eventually on their own figure out an achieve a 5th stage (I'll just call it the multi-versal stage) and infect other universes. And if that happens what if the entire omniverse gets infected (everything to every exist, every universe, reality, and dimension) would they just say "well that was fun" and go to fucking sleep for the rest of time. Theres so much that could happen if the flood "win"
If the Flood wins, the universe and beyond becomes a very literal hell in which reality itself becomes a mockery of itself and all life then on is born into perpetual agony and suffering.

No... the flood would provide the knowledge to a surviving species in hope that they will provide a way to transport between Universes. “A false hope”...”A chance to survive”... just to be taken away by the flood and secures the flood with the technology and information of traveling between other Universes.
Once they won they would probably try to evolve back into precursors and recreate new life from scratch again in my opinion because if they won the flood would have nothing else to do
My theory: When there is no food left in a universe for the flood they just simply die out. This is bcuz as we know that when a Halo ring is fired, the array kills the food/the host species and the flood starve to death leading to a hard reset. Similarly if there is no food left then the flood will die out leading to a "hard reset" and the galaxy is later then reseeded with host species and the flood returns so as to repeat the whole process. It means that it is an endless cycle, unless it is broken.
This isnt true. The flood eventually create blightlands. Blightlands create an ecosystem that allows flood to feed on other flood endlessly so they ever die off.

since the flood are one of the many forms of the precursors i'm pretty sure once the entire galaxy is taken they'll return to their pre-forerunner forms and re seed the galaxy, the primordial that was captured by the humans made it specifically clear that the flood and the precursor species are one and the same which explains how they can be in all of the tech tiers all at once
Can you explain the Flood's connection to the Domain and Living Time?
The flood is made up of corrupted precursor essence and thus they can access precursor concepts and comstructs

The most advanced species in the galaxy are the spore boi.
hetornhetorn so who wins? spore boi or spore boi?
Kian Hopkins interesting idea. 2 different spores apart would evolve different surely
Although a lot of it would be hypothesised I wouldn’t mind sitting down for a 20min made up battle
Love your content, keep up the great/ICONIC work man!!!
When you have a number has a repeating decimal of 9, it is equal to the next number. So 99.9 repeating % = 100%.
Proof: 1 = 3/3 = 3(1/3) = 3(.3 repeating) = .9 repeating.
The scary part is that an infection like this probably is already happening in a galaxy far from here and is slowly creeping it’s way towards the milky way😬😬
Is it possible they would evolve back into Precursors?
We’re pretty much screwed unless we make a Hand Sanitizer Nuke.

The time that I subscribe to you, you gave me so much info and I haven't been subscribed for a week.
the gravemind would probably get depressed… like a grad student.
Rishabh Giri This is possible. But isn't also possible for the Flood to harvest food?
This isnt true. The flood eventually create blightlands. Blightlands create an ecosystem that allows flood to feed on other flood endlessly so they ever die off.
