This game is truly timeless. To this day nearly 20 years after the launch of MGS 2 people still discuss the game and devote time to paying tributes to it. Outstanding work and thank you for your efforts
Odd. I was just thinking how dated it was. Can you imagine anyone trusting photographs posted to the internet today? And then we have an all-white Marine corps, except for their token commanding officer. And the Russians and the Americans do everything in their power to avoid shooting Ocelot, so he can make cool anime poses. That's some serious trigger discipline. Mind you, I'm not complaining. Metal Gear Solid has always been a surreal GI Joe anime/modern tour of Dante's Inferno, underneath the Tom Clancy skin. It's good that the game sticks to a specific time. Plus, it saw a lot of future trends. And mocks it's own ridiculously complicated plot and the nature of sequels. It even sneers at the idea of the player being a soldier - Raiden rejects whatever name you give him at the end. AAA gaming has never been this meta again.
MGS2 had the best gameplay mechanics, if you ask me.... actually, my fav game in the entire franchise is MGS Twin Snakes, because it has the MGS story, you play as Solid Snake, remastered graphics, aaaaand it has MGS2's mechanics! haha i remember when 2 came out.... more specifically, the tanker demo. the nostalia i feel when i think of that is one of the strongest of all my memories. i almost get emotional thinking about it! lol

Spent long hours watching a trailer for MGS2 on a demos disc before the release. When Snake jumps from the bridge. This was so EPIC. The first hype of my gamer's life, I was a young teenager. (I don't think any game release had the ability to hype me as much, but GTAV of course). A lot of people consider MGS3 to be the best episode but to me Hideo Kojima was at its peak with MGS2, in terms of cinematography/story-telling. And let's remember we ignored about Raiden until the game came out. Brillant move since taking us away from our "hero" was a bold move, but the story was so good and the gameplay was so satisfying that I think there has been no outrage at Solid Snake becoming a secondary character. When you get out from this torture room, naked, and Solid Snake is here. He's classy af and you feel like "I'm not playing him, but I feel like I'm well protected" haha. Most epic "I'm counting on you Otacon" of the whole series 3:47:58
Insane work. Wow. MGS2 is just... unforgettable. From the epic intro to the super odd ending. Dude I want a new collection of MGS. I want to replay those games on my PC.
The three bits that I remember not entirely getting when it first came out were - How the original (human) Patriot/Philosopher members could already be long dead - Ocelot having Liquid’s personality - Vamp’s apparent immortality I feel that MGS4 explains these things quite well. The one with the Patriots is hiding in plain sight, given that they speak like openly hostile AIs.
MGS-2 was first MGS game that I played in this series. My God, before this game I didn't knew what a fantastic game it was. I didn't knew that games could be this good. I went on to play every MGS game after this one. All of them are so special. This is the best series. The only competition is GOW.

nice work on this whole thing, and the codec screen was so neat! My favorite parts regarding the codec screen were at the end where the Colonel AI is acting weird, when he says, "When I came to, I was home," and the background had the Shadow Moses heliport fading in, and the PS2 disc error screen when he tells Raiden to turn off the game console, even having the sound visualizer bar where the tuner is have a white noise effect, and having that sound visualizer look like smoke or fire in the background of that bar during that last codec call with the Colonel AI, the frequency number completely missing, and the AI itself with a static-like filter to imply that Raiden really was talking to an AI the whole time while Raiden's screen was still intact!
