The scooter accident is a mild recreation of an actual thing that happened during yoongi's trainee days. He was working as a delivery guy because the company didn't have the resources to give them the training they needed. He had to work. And he got into an accident and after he went back to the company he didn't tell them he was severely injured in his left shoulder out of fear that he would get dropped as a trainee. But when they found out they paid all his bills and even paid for his tuition. He didn't even tell the members what had actually happened. For 10 years he carried that injured shoulder around. And he had to get shots before ever tour they did as bts. In 2020 I think he finally got a full surgery and rested for 3 months. I think its an incident that left a lot of both physical and mental anguish for him. Its the type of incident that would make one think "why me?" He talks about it also in his song 'the last'
This song is definitely one of, if not his most honest song that he has ever made. You should definitely check out the behind the scenes shooting of this music video if you want a better understanding of the meaning behind the song. The bike crash in the MV actually happened to Suga back when he was a trainee and a delivery driver, and that was his "accident he could not mention" in fear of the company being mad. It caused him to have a soulder injury and only ended up getting the surgery for it a couple years ago.
Yk it's even harder to watch it as an Army cause we know all the backstory n what each scene represents... I'm really proud of the kind of person yoongi is 💜
6:45 the scooter accident doesn't rep death, it was an actual thing. While still a trainee, he found out his parents were struggling to pay his school tuition, and there was a lot of insecurity with BigHit and if they were even going to be able to debut so he secretly worked a delivery job. That accident actually happened, he talks about how he opened his eyes and the car tire was inches from his head. He fucked up his shoulder put lied about it and didn't tell anyone for a while and continued to train injured until finally he told BigHit and they were super understanding and even paid for his school. But after that he needed treatments/injections and trained/danced/worked with an inured shoulder for almost a decade. He finally had surgery a few years ago. I think him being jolted awake on the couch could represent him having continued flashbacks of the accident, a symptom of PTSD.
In Amygdala, this is where Suga revealed the origin of scar on his face from Daechwita, and Haegeum -------- HE INFLICTED IT TO HIMSELF. When Suga created and released Daechwita in 2020, he already had a storyboard and already done Making th e Haegeum 3 years ago and just released now. He is such a genius. Producer, the only main producer among the 7 members and produces songs in other artists, songwriter, composer, lyricist, involve in his own m/v production, dancer---- Yoongi, what else can't you do? Check the following: Behind the scene of AMYGDALA Behind the scene of HAEGEUM Haegeum Dance Practice Behind the scene of Daechwita
Amygdala, pronounced Ah Mig Da La ...is a part of the brain that's responsible for encoding (real/perceived) life threatening situations so that if you experience something similar in the future you can react appropriately. It triggers emotional reactions and fight/flight/fawn/freeze/shutdown responses. It's also involved with PTSD symptoms and phobias (such as, you get attacked by someone wearing red and then have a fear response every time you see that colour afterwards). The way I interpret the him on the couch is a respresentation of the parts of ourselves that become dissociated after trauma. BangtanTV also has a behind the scenes for the MV and he talks about the scar and basically how it's ourselves who (conscioulsy/unconsciously) continue to hurt ourselves by our actions/reactons to what has happened in the past. I take it as the anger/insecurity/anxiety that he carried with him and that you see acted out in the rest of the trilogy.
The imagery in this mv has helped me “explain” quite a few of the often debilitating PTSD & anxiety/depression symptoms I have experienced to friends and family members, like recurring nightmares & flashbacks, racing/intrusive thoughts, struggles making decisions, disassociation, numbness, feeling hopeless/exhausted/trapped in darkness, etc.
Of all the songs in the world, his track People has to be my favorite. It is such a comfort song. He even said during an interview with IU (it's on YT) that he doesn't often listen to his songs after he's done with them, but a few years ago he did listen to it and it made him cry. It feels like a nervous system reset to me. Like when I look in the mirror and I just acknowledge how I feel and how I'm reacting and can finally take a deep breath and almost laugh myself with compassion. Actually that interview is great, he sings People live as well as the newer track People Pt. 2 (also a comfort song) that he did with IU.
1. Seeing that you love Suga's music, you should watch his solo concert. He's been touring the US and Asia, but he only has two shows left in Korea, which is this Friday and Saturday, but they will be livestreamed. The entire concert is phenomenal, showcasing his artistry and featuring a unique stage set-up. It even has a story line, which is basically about his three personas as Agust D, Suga, and Min Yoongi. I can't really explain it without spoiling it, but the concert is as mind-blowing as his music and his MVs. If you can feel his presence in his MVs, imagine seeing him perform live. 2. Suga's entire discography is amazing. If you listen to it chronologically, you can see his growth as a musician and as a person. And this applies to RM (and BTS) as well. We see their ambition and hunger and anger in their first mixtapes, RM (2015) and Agust D (2016). We see their soul-searching in their second mixtapes, mono (2018) and D-2 (2020). And then we see them generally at peace with themselves in their albums, Indigo (2022) and D-Day (2023). We also see J-hope take a different kind of journey in his two solo works, and of course there's BTS's journey from their school days to their current stardom. 3. Now that you've seen music from RM and Suga (the musical pillars of BTS along with J-hope), I think you now see why BTS is as big as they are. They write from the heart, they tell their authentic stories, and they offer their candid thoughts about the world. In doing so, they've touched the hearts of millions.
He shows us in the video about his accident that he had in 2012 before debuting, he worked part-time as a delivery man in the song the last tells you about it and his depression in the lyrics speaks about his parents' illness
Btw, the song is about his trauma, how he thinks he made the best choices in that movement, but is all on the past. This is a special song tbh. I see this as a very raw interpretation of trauma. He did have that accident tho, predebut, he crushed his shoulder and hide out of fear of affecting his career (he had a surgery to fix it during the pandemic, since it still bothered him), plus talking about his parents health, which no one knew about. The amygdala is the part of the brain that storages trauma and is responsable for the flight or fight response; begging his amygdala to save him for reliving his trauma (nightmares, depersonalization, dissociation, etc.). This is also the birth of Agust D, as that persona that puts on a hard face and deals with shit. Also, im from a family of psychologist, and let me say, all his songs, specially this one (d-day in general tbh), has so many amazing little details, we love to just analyze his music.
I absolutely love this one the most because we all know Agust D for being raw and real with his lyrics, but in this one he totally opened up about the trauma of his past and shared it with us. The things that happened that we were not aware of, he kept in his heart and is now sharing them with us because he has healed from his past and moved on. The trilogy is the perfect ending to the story of Agust D whom Suga created. Everything that happened in the video happened in his life. I have so much love and respect for this man💜
The scar represents past trauma that you carry with you and can really never get rid of. The Amygdala is the part of the brain that stores trauma, fear, anxiety etc. As much as he wants to save himself from those memories, he can't because it's a part pf him. In the end you need to deal with and come to peace with it. And this is what really happened to him. So the fact that he was so open in sharing his past struggles in this song is amazing. 💜
love the reaction, and also wanted to point out that this is one of the most honest songs by yoongi, the accident portrayed in the mv is something he actually went through in his trainee days and had to hide so as not to be kicked out of the group. He had to get surgery for it later on as well. Also about his mental health struggles, i think yoongi's been one of the most open about his struggles, and you can see it in his lyrics often.
ahhh was wondering if you were gonna check it out !!! excited edit : the accident you saw in the mv actually happened to him btw ! he didn't seek medical help because he was afraid the company would kick him out as this was when he was a trainee, and only underwent surgery in 2020 when holding a can of beer for a shooting was too painful he's okay now and he said it doesnt hurt anymore :)
Okay so you saw that 'Haegeum' is an instrument (you can hear it in the song), but it also means the 'lift of a ban' which is why you can see him do all kinds of illegal things. It can be crimes like murder, but also simple things such as smoking, which can actually create a scandal when an idol is seen doing it. As you know, Idols are held to pretty high standards, they can’t do whatever without it impacting their public image. This version of Min Yoongi thinks it can do no bad because he’s in such a position of power that it makes him untouchable. 'Daechwita' is an instrument too, but it's also an hymn that was played to announce the arrival of the king, the sound you hear at the beginning is actually a sample of the real thing. This king is a tyrant, he doesn't care about his people, doesn't hesitate to kill anyone that he considers a threat to his position. Also an egotistical version of Yoongi that was driven mad by power. Then a new version / persona of him appears in both MVs. It’s a version that also has success and is assured in his position. But this one stayed true to himself and despises the other versions. They are the versions of himself he was afraid of becoming in his song ‘The Last’ from his first album: “As time goes by, I feel like I’m turning into a monster. I’ve exchanged my youth for success. And that monster demands for more wealth”. He also says "Min Yoongi is dead, I killed him" and it has a link with why he ended up killing his alter ego in Daechwita and Haegeum. This song is the start of that storyline. It will also help you understand why there are multiple personas in the first place. __ 'Amygdala' refers to the part of our brain that stores all of your unpleasant memories so you can prepare yourself for those types of situations in the future. Suga said in an interview that it’s “a very important process to learn to control those memories.” It has the shape of an almond. Last year there was a best seller book in South Korea (Almond, by Won-Pyung Sohn), which Suga read, about a kid who had trouble identifying his feelings, he couldn't understand fear and was unaware of danger. His amygdala had a malformation and was too little. Since it has the shape of an almond, his mother started to always give him almonds to eat, foolishly believing that it might help his amygdala to grow. That’s why you can see Suga eating them in a MV as a reference to that book. Suga said in that same song that : "The cause of all these problems is me, so let me quit by myself" which is why you can see him mutilate his eyes: it's to represent the fact that a lot of our internal suffering is inflicted by ourselves and our brains.
The brilliance of Suga is his willingness to literally slice himself open and expose the pain. At the same time making. beautiful music. I cannot understand how he underwent the grueling training schedule in so much pain and unable to tell anybody in case he lost his dream chance. It explains so much of the early years. Why he was so quiet. Why he defined himself in the 3 words eat, sleep work. He was literally hanging on through willpower. I have so much love and respect for this man. All my hope is that his life from now on he gets all the calm comfort and love he deserves. I hope he finds a life partner who will allow him to trust them, and they reward that trust.
This is such a devastatingly beautiful video. I can only watch it with the knowledge that he made it through the door at his last concert. He's truly brilliant. A musical genius. And you're right; he is so incredibly pretty.
This song really stuck with me and I felt super connected to it because when I was listening to the song, without even understanding what Suga was saying, just seeing what what was happening in the MV, it felt like it went through my soul and heart. But after paying attention to the lyrics (with subtitles) it really felt like it meant something to me. And it really made me have flashbacks or brought back memories to how bad my depression was a couple years ago. This song really made me tear up..
The albums are a trilogy, so it is better to react in order, AgustD's story telling starts in D1 and you'll find correlation in many songs of how he felt in the moment and he overcame them or kept procesing in the next album. Thanks so much so this. Lots of love from Paraguay
I am very glad that you listen to the album. This is amazing! after that you can listen to his two previous mixtapes (D-2, Agust D). they are also great. especially songs like People, so far away, give it to me. also if you want you can listen to his song with halsey SUGA's Interlude (it is very beautiful)
BTS's lyrics are all deep.. but particularly the rapline... sometimes it's so far from what you see it's clearer to look up their meaning first.... The other 'Yoongi' is sitting eating almonds... which is the shape of the Amydala in the brain where your memories/trauma are stored.... Whilst his shoulder injury was extreme, he still did the full choreo of the group until he had the surgery to fix it in 2020.... He is one strong person and we love him to death... You're doing a great job of attempting to deconstruct these tracks... You're going to love the full album 💜
I loved your reaction to this. You are very on point with so much of what’s happening and the respect you have for Suga and all the BTS members makes me love you so much. Thank you 💜💜💜
If you imagine that Amygdala, Daechwita, and Haegeum all take place in Agust D's mind, they start to make more sense as a cohesive story. These are all the battles that he is fighting within himself. First to kill off the vain and power/fame hungry version of himself as the king. Then the version of himself that killed the king eventually warps into the corrupt and greedy police officer in Haegeum who was killed off by vigilante Suga. Then end of Haegeum shows Suga taking over the restaurant that was the front for the corrupt police officer's smuggling, showing that the cycle would eventually begin again. Amygdala shows the pain in his life that caused him to fracture and create the evil king version of himself in the first place.
He said in one of latest interwies that scar means he was the person who hurt to yoongi (himself)more than anything and anyone and thats why we see the sense in this mv
i haven't seen anyone comment this, so i'm gonna explain even though i'm late the yoongi in the green hoddie sitting in front of the door watching himself is always eating almonds we speculate that this is a reference to the book almond by Sohn Won-pyung, which yoongi and rm were seen reading on their show in the soop in the book, the main character is a boy who struggles with life because his amygdala (part of the brain responsible for handling fear and trauma) doesn't work properly so in the book, his mom tells him to eat almonds in an attempt to get better, cuz it's said almonds are good for your amygdala, which i don't think it's true btw (also, the amygadala in our brains is shaped like as almond, hence the name of the book) i find this little anecdote particularly sad, cuz i've experienced it before, when i was struggling with depression my mom would try to do small things for me in an attempt to make me feel better, even though they might not be scientifically correct, it's so sad to see your loved ones try their best to help you but you just can't seem to feel better
Everything in this video happen to Suga. This is his "real life" story. Accident which mess up is shoulder, his Mother's heart, Dad having cancer, taking medication. Suga very vulnerable in this video because he wants us to understand him. This is showing how you're trapped in you thoughts things happening in your life (negative) which can cause depression. You have to look up the word Amygdala.
Amo a los 7 miembros pero suga es mi favorito y estoy feliz de que superara todas sus dificultades, desde su accidente hasta los problemas de salud de su familia, se ve más alegre y bromista
Interestingly enough my next recommendation for you is Jin's Epiphany. I know ppl will already recommend more of Suga's amazing work, but if you want a break or a different vibe Epiphany is a really good fit IMO. It's such a beautiful song and it has a very powerful message, specially knowing more abt Jin and his story as an artist, musician and member of BTS. Also, I understand the ending of this MV as a visual representation of what happens when you go through a very traumatic experience, no matter how much you recover and achieve a healthier mental state, there's always a part of you that is gone forever, sort of like losing your innocense. And Yoongi's story is very much like that, as an army this is a very hard song to listen to this song and it broke my heart watching the MV and the recreation of the accident knowing that everything he wrote abt were actual things that happened to him. This is the last video of the trilogy but it's literally the origin story. The "character" we see in Suga's MV with the scar IS a version of himself, tortured by the reality of the society he lives in and hunted by the other law-enforcing version of himself. Suga has a podcast where he has a lot of guest discuss music and promo their projects, they had a special episode where RM took over as host and interviewed Suga. I think you'd really love it. It's episode 9 of "suchwita" and it's on BTS' YT channel "BANGTANTV" (there's eng subs too).
all of these is simply his autobiography. he got motorbike accident back then as delivery boy which caused his arm injured and he finally got surgery in 2020
"Just because you can function, doesn't mean you are alright", by Trolltek. This should be on a tee shirt. It's such a great quote. Also, in the music video he has an exacto knife and he's in a shadow but if you look closely, you can see he's holding the knife in front of his eye and I think this means he's inflicted a large scar. Also; this depiction of the accident, in the video was a mild version. He had said, that when he looked up, the car tire was right right by his head and that his arm had been crushed. Thank you for the reaction.
This should make the whole song make more sense amygdala, (a-MIG-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes. The name amygdala is derived from the Greek word amygdale, meaning “almond,” owing to the structure's almond like shape. The amygdala is located in the medial temporal lobe, just anterior to (in front of) the hippocampus. Some of the visuals and the lyrics of this song are actual memories of things that he went through. He did have an accident while he was a delivery driver and that is where his shoulder injury came from. He initially didn't let Big Hit know about that but eventually was able to have surgery on the shoulder.
AMYGDALA recounts the traumas, not all but several, that SUGA experienced. From his mother's heart surgery at the time he was born (he spent time with his maternal grandmother because of this, he himself mentioned it before), his motorcycle accident that left him with a shoulder injury that occurred when he was working part time because the company did not have enough money (which he hid for fear of not being able to debut with the group), the pills he had to take because of the chronic pain in his shoulder due to the accident (he just had surgery in 2020, before he received injections every time he had to do a show and at other times due to the intense pain it generated) and of his problems of depression, anxiety and social phobia (there are other songs where he mentions it, as well as the social pressure, the burden of doing something different than expected, the money problems his family had), etc. It's a very personal song, Yoongi said that. The amygdala is in charge of dealing with emotions, immediate reaction (immediate response to something a person has) and dealing with, processing, trauma. There is also a book of that name that they read during In The Soop with Namu, which inspired him as well (it is a strong book, but interesting). He attended some online conferences on the subject as he found it interesting how it worked and what it entailed. Yoongi said that many times it is ourselves and how we react to what happens to us that cause the "scars" (like the one on his face in the MV). I mean, there are things that are out of our control, and we can't help it, but we can try to react to them in a better way, trying not to hurt ourselves. And AMYGDALA is that, a way to talk about the traumas, the hurts and let them go, heal. I love this song, as it says in the lyrics "what didn't kill me only made me stronger" and "I begin to bloom like a lotus flower once again". In other words, despite all the injustices, the "mud", whatever surrounds us, we can get through it, we can "bloom" beautifully.
Yes, it's a very emotional song about an асcident in his life. he has another similar song about his feelings called The Last. it's heavy but worth listening to. and oh i swear you will love his song Interlude: shadow (it's his individual song by bts)
I think the video is about memory because he was working as a deliveryman and had an accident and injured his shoulder as a result. He had shoulder surgery in 2020 or maybe later. he suffered from pain for many years, about 7 years
I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi aka Suga/AugstD....but as you liked his MV then the following info might be of interest to you. Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16. Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper in his hometown Daegu, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17 and became the second member to join BTS..... At BTS debut in 2013 he was 20 y.o.... he is one of BTSs main producers/songwriters/composers and has over 150 song copyrights.... he also produces for other artists and has won awards for his work.... he is one of the fastest rappers in South Korea. Suga (SHU-GA.... from Shooting Guard - the position he played in basketball) ...... AgustD = SUGA + DT (Daegu Twon - his hometown) Spelt Backwards Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce and compose music. In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising. He has released 2 mixtapes - and recently his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control) Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D". He is best known for his honest hardhitting lyrics and has brought much comfort to many of us suffering mental health issues. Suga/AgustD was involved in all aspects of this song and music video and had great input into how the music video was designed/produced (working as usual with Director Lumpens (Choi YongSeok) who does most BTS MVs) - Bookish Theories TH-cam channel has really good explanations to BTS videos as there is a lot of cultural references and depth to this song that really will blow your mind Yoongi wrote, composed and produced the song, he conceptualised the MV and had creative control.... he is a true genius. This is the last song in the trilogy..... He is a master storyteller.... a fellow army best explained the trilogy as - Daechwita... ridding himself of the need to prove his worth to others Haegeum... ridding himself of the confines of modern society Amygdala... he investigates the inner demons and trauma that started his confinement in the first place.
I can imagine it. First you explore Agust D's discography. And then you listen to the rap line songs, which will probably make you explore RM and J-hope. And then you listen to BTS hip-hop songs, which expose you to the beautiful vocals of the vocal line, and then down the BTS rabbit hole you go. LOL.
@@a.h9365 I am so bad a choosing favorites. Most of the time unless I really don’t like a song the one I’m currently listening to is my favorite lol. Amygdala is a song of his I love and is special because it introduced me to him. Some of the others I have really enjoyed were: give it to me and heageum and people pt 2 with IU.
Please reaction to BTS other members solo: 1) Jin - Epiphany, Astronaut, Abyss, Tonight 2) J-Hope - Ego, Arson, More, Airplane pt 1 3) Jimin - Set me free, Serendipity, Lie, Filter 4) V - Singularity, Stigma, Winter bear, Inner child 5) Jungkook - Dreamers, My time, Euphoria, Begin Group live performances : So what, Magic shop, Run, Truth Untold, Outro:tear, Answer: live myself, Pluto
Agree strongly that he is a genius and this is one of the most tragically beautiful MVs that shows so well how hard it feels to be trapped in your memories in the Amygdala and how we need to unpack our trauma. He keeps giving himself scars (mentally) because he isn’t dealing with his past traumas. In the past two MVs he shows (among various layers of symbolism) that he’s constantly fighting his own inner greed and wanting to seek power and money and be corrupt but his inner rebel is always fighting back that part of himself over and over again. Here he’s showing what it feels like to get to the root cause of trauma. And he illustrates the frustration so well. Going so far to eat almonds throughout the video, the amygdala is almond sized/shaped and he based the idea around a book called “Almond”. He also looks so ethereal and soft and vulnerable. The sound is also unlike anything I’ve heard in kpop it’s very early 2000s rock. FYI one song off his latest album DDay that hit the hardest to me isn’t even this one it’s the song Snooze, I ended up sobbing when I heard it live (it’s a song of comfort to both us and especially other idols/artists).
I never really suggest baby army/people just getting bts to react to this (at least not until later) because its not just a catchy song and fictional story. Even if we were to explain it before you watched the video it takes a deeper understanding yoongi, his story, past struggles, and battle with mental health. Something you can only really grasp when you've known them/him for a good while and know quite a bit about them. Seasoned armies especially are so heartbroken and torn up over this MV. Cause it shows so plainly all his struggles in such painfully accurate detail and visuals that it almost physically hurts to watch it (some can't even bring themselves to watch it more than that first time). I think once you've known them for longer and passed your baby army stage you'll come back to this and fully understand 🙂
Congrats, You got so much of this song. I am impressed. Yoongi has always been open and honest about his personal struggles with mental health and has blazed a trail for others to begin to approach the subject. I think he is very brave to take such a close, and public, look at his own issues then to share. Suicide has been the #1 reason for youth death in S. Korea for a long time. I sincerely hope that is changing now. Mental health is not something people pay attention to. After the suicide of the leader of SHINee it hit home for a lot of folks. BTS's label, Bit Hits, started with the logo Music and Artists for Healing. PD Bang purposefully put together a Hip Hop group with this slogan in mind and purposefully allowed them to be themselves, not restricted by the trainee system. He is one smart guy because he hung in there believing their time would come and their involvement in the music (writing, composing, and producing) would allow them to speak to youth directly. Even their group name, BTS short for Bangtan Sonyeondan, means bullet proof boy scouts. Weird, perhaps, but the purpose was to protect youth from the judgement, demands, and other pressures that fly at them like bullets. I recommend you check out one of the intro videos. I like to start with XCeleste's intro: th-cam.com/video/3cESARetI9U/w-d-xo.html then move to Taylors more recent video: th-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/w-d-xo.html From there you can check others or even start in on the Rise of Bangtan series (documentary series) that starts here.: th-cam.com/video/hrOqT5Fm4_E/w-d-xo.html When you are ready to check the entire group out I think you would enjoy Mic Drop as a first song. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/kTlv5_Bs8aw/w-d-xo.html I hope you continue to enjoy the music.
Screaming at my screen cos you literally missed the one line that could've helped with your initial confusion while you were talking 🤣at 3:47 "Travelling through memories, things I want to erase" as others already mentioned here and hopefully you realise in the end these are his traumatic memories and that delivery driver accident set off a chain of events in his life until he finally had shoulder surgery to treat the injury at the end of 2020 during COVID (you think they would be less busy but they werent really) and he missed out on 3 months of their content so you will see some Run BTS episodes and both live and taped performances over Christmas holidays where he is not present if I remember correctly around 20 or so performances. And so finally after over a decade, he returns to performances in early 2021 healed and has been going from strength to strength ever since. I notice that your brain works at an incredible speed and sometimes you get ahead of yourself 😆 maybe as a suggestion let it play first and then play it again as you would have discovered by now (saw you reacted to his album) their songs are very layered and sometimes you may need to run it til the end to get the whole picture then you can go back and break it down because they are often complex you will rarely catch the message in one go. Anyway I appreciate you falling for Suga, he is my bias and I love absolutely everything about this man & his craft so keep going!🤘
If you go back to the beginning you will see it says he is remembering things that happened to him. Amygdala is the almond shaped part of the brain that holds memory. This is a story of his experienced, a true story. Our experiences shapes who we are. He explains it very well. He has never been a pill popper, that’s why in Daewitchta he tells pill poppers to cry him a river because if anyone has reason to be a pill popper he has, but he didn’t and he has since dealt with it and these last 3 songs were like a catharsis he even said he may not bring Agust D back.
This is about trauma, obviously. His mother had to have heart surgery right after his birth - so he carried guilt even about being born. (1993). Later he found out his father needed a liver transplant. [no confirmation but that often means alcoholism.] The car accident. A best friend busted for drugs and sent to prison. Severe depression that came close to suicide (the knife). His roommate Jin caught him in very bad shape and they got him some help. Amygdala is the part of the brain that stores trauma, but the repressed memories can be "unpacked", and the amygdala can be healed. Many many people have experienced trauma, and this video, the tour, the last concert were cathartic. At least 6M sobbed with him that last night. BTS is famous for expressing healing.
Have you listened to RMs Joker it is a must. It's a stream of consciousness exposition of the various cadences of RAP. A masterclass answer to all the detractors and why his name was initially rap monster. He is a RAP Monster.
So the car/moped accident happened in real life when he was still a trainee. He worked as a delivery driver to earn extra money He hid it from the company and told them he just hurt his shoulder tripping on the stairs. When Bang PD found out what happened, he paid for the doctor and Suga's schooling. Two years ago he finally had surgery on it. Also, the pills he is popping are actually Ambiaen ( you can see the label with its drug name on it it's sleep medication ) SO while a lot of your analysis was spot on some of it is very literal. The Amgydala is part of your brain that remembers terrible events and causes Trama responses IE fear of water after almost drowning once
Controversial take but I think it's better to react to his albums in order. He is VERY self-referential in his art and reacting to the last album you kind of loosing all the references he is making 🥲
everything in this video happened to him irl and is based on his real life. not really his “story” that runs in his mvs. he had a shoulder injury for over 10 years bc of the accident he showed in the mv.
RE: where did the scar come from he literally gave it to himself in this video (refer 7:40) hence YT's TW for suicide and self-harm 🙃 you are spot on with the info and imagery overload, so again slow down, absorb, let it run (leave the questions) then rewatch cos a lot of it will be clearer by the end or 2nd run haha. Also re: Deachwita and Haegeum pronunciation you may copy how he repeatedly sings them ('De-she-ta! De-she-ta!') and 'i norenun HEGUM ' hopefully that makes it easier to refer to :)
Its the type of incident that would make one think "why me?"
He talks about it also in his song 'the last'
This song is definitely one of, if not his most honest song that he has ever made.
When Suga created and released Daechwita in 2020, he already had a storyboard and already done
Making th e Haegeum 3 years ago and just released now. He is such a genius. Producer, the only main producer among the 7 members and produces songs in other artists, songwriter, composer, lyricist, involve in his own m/v production, dancer---- Yoongi, what else can't you do?

This MV is genuinely such a great representation of Depression.
Just watching this makes me wanna cry every time.
Also about his mental health struggles, i think yoongi's been one of the most open about his struggles, and you can see it in his lyrics often.
ahhh was wondering if you were gonna check it out !!! excited
edit : the accident you saw in the mv actually happened to him btw ! he didn't seek medical help because he was afraid the company would kick him out as this was when he was a trainee, and only underwent surgery in 2020 when holding a can of beer for a shooting was too painful
he's okay now and he said it doesnt hurt anymore :)
In the one scene, he’s actually eating almonds. The amygdala part of the brain is almond-shaped.
Amygdala, the word itself means almond in greek or latin, not sure
__
'Amygdala' refers to the part of our brain that stores all of your unpleasant memories so you can prepare yourself for those types of situations in the future. Suga said in an interview that it’s “a very important process to learn to control those memories.”
It has the shape of an almond.
The way Suga overcomes his hardships make me try harder to overcome mine.
I love this young man like he's one of my own 💜. Probably as proud as his family is, incredible artist...honest and true.
The albums are a trilogy, so it is better to react in order, AgustD's story telling starts in D1 and you'll find correlation in many songs of how he felt in the moment and he overcame them or kept procesing in the next album. Thanks so much so this. Lots of love from Paraguay
For suga's album, let's go to "D-2" first and then D-day. It's kinda of series, and D2 is definitely masterpiece u can't miss!!💜💜💜💜
He said in one of latest interwies that scar means he was the person who hurt to yoongi (himself)more than anything and anyone and thats why we see the sense in this mv
i haven't seen anyone comment this, so i'm gonna explain even though i'm late
the yoongi in the green hoddie sitting in front of the door watching himself is always eating almonds
we speculate that this is a reference to the book almond by Sohn Won-pyung, which yoongi and rm were seen reading on their show in the soop
in the book, the main character is a boy who struggles with life because his amygdala (part of the brain responsible for handling fear and trauma) doesn't work properly
so in the book, his mom tells him to eat almonds in an attempt to get better, cuz it's said almonds are good for your amygdala, which i don't think it's true btw (also, the amygadala in our brains is shaped like as almond, hence the name of the book)
i find this little anecdote particularly sad, cuz i've experienced it before, when i was struggling with depression my mom would try to do small things for me in an attempt to make me feel better, even though they might not be scientifically correct, it's so sad to see your loved ones try their best to help you but you just can't seem to feel better
Oh we've all heard our Suga sing he does sing all 3 of the Rappers can sing.
It's episode 9 of "suchwita" and it's on BTS' YT channel "BANGTANTV" (there's eng subs too).
all of these is simply his autobiography. he got motorbike accident back then as delivery boy which caused his arm injured and he finally got surgery in 2020
This is the origin story of that scar.
This should make the whole song make more sense
amygdala, (a-MIG-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes.
AgustD = SUGA + DT (Daegu Twon - his hometown) Spelt Backwards
Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce and compose music.
He has released 2 mixtapes - and recently his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control)
Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D". He is best known for his honest hardhitting lyrics and has brought much comfort to many of us suffering mental health issues.
Suga/AgustD was involved in all aspects of this song and music video and had great input into how the music video was designed/produced (working as usual with Director Lumpens (Choi YongSeok) who does most BTS MVs) -
Bookish Theories TH-cam channel has really good explanations to BTS videos as there is a lot of cultural references and depth to this song that really will blow your mind
Yoongi wrote, composed and produced the song, he conceptualised the MV and had creative control.... he is a true genius.
This is the last song in the trilogy..... He is a master storyteller.... a fellow army best explained the trilogy as -
Daechwita... ridding himself of the need to prove his worth to others
Haegeum... ridding himself of the confines of modern society
Amygdala... he investigates the inner demons and trauma that started his confinement in the first place.
My favorite his song is So far away ft Sudan from his first mixtape August D in 2016
My interpretation of green clothing yoongi eating almonds is him seeing all versions of himself.
You should react to The Last by Agust D sometime as well. It’s one of the most personal songs I’ve ever heard. It’s truly a masterpiece.
check the sketch the more you appreciate and know more about the story. you will see that he can be also an actor. 😀
Love your reactions sm 💜💜💜💜
Still pretty new to Kpop. Not a BTS fan but this song got me listening to Agust-D and I swear he’s going to pull me into BTS lol
LOL.

Most of this is actually factual autobiography
I love Suga and JHOPE too💜💜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You might like his song shadow
Scar is the outward representation on his inner wounds, past his trauma's.
This all happened to suga as a trainie and his parents not being well either that all happened. Especially the car accident
YASSSS!! Suga Yoongi is the cutest aggressive rapper in the universe. At least I think so 🤭💜.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Awesome video ❤❤❤ btw it’s pronounced yoon-gi
Suga recommend watching three MV. Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala.
If you go back to the beginning you will see it says he is remembering things that happened to him. Amygdala is the almond shaped part of the brain that holds memory. This is a story of his experienced, a true story. Our experiences shapes who we are. He explains it very well. He has never been a pill popper, that’s why in Daewitchta he tells pill poppers to cry him a river because if anyone has reason to be a pill popper he has, but he didn’t and he has since dealt with it and these last 3 songs were like a catharsis he even said he may not bring Agust D back.
this is about his life all if this stuff happened.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 OT7 FOREVER 🫰
BTS is famous for expressing healing.
you need to read the meaning of amygdala. Amygdala is region of the brain responsible for memory
a-mig-da-la - part of our brain that stores trauma.
Have you listened to RMs Joker it is a must. It's a stream of consciousness exposition of the various cadences of RAP. A masterclass answer to all the detractors and why his name was initially rap monster. He is a RAP Monster.
In sugas song people pt 2 from d-day he sings with the female artist IU
ARMY will inform you of a lot of things. BTS videos and songs are very deep. Bookish Theroies does a great job in explaining their videos.
I wish armys told you the meaning of this everything is real the lyrics are heartbreaking he gave himself the scar like self harm but not really
De-she-ta!') and 'i norenun HEGUM ' hopefully that makes it easier to refer to :)
i was wondering if you’re gonna continue with the individual skz videos? u stopped at changbin
Maybe it would have been helpful if you had looked up meaning of song title before you make comments.
All the things mentioned in this song are real everything happend to him
