I just love music and playing piano, the more you play the better you get in theory, its the same with anything, some people get good very quickly, others take longer, some people can never do things, the mind is very complex thing, I know mine is anyway :)
Diamond Gaming it's because his music is more simplistic and less complex probably than other composers, he seems to lose out to Alexandre desplat often.
Mark Fowler I think a soundtrack should be judged on how it made you feel and I have never felt more in a movie because of its soundtrack than in Inception and Interstellar
This song really got to me, I am a 7 year piano student.. And my love for piano was starting to fade. This piece renewed my love for piano, and I'm truly grateful you put this up. :) Play on Mark!
Someone once asked who is composing classical music today. He was told composers of film scores. Hans Zimmer is indeed carrying out the tradition and you, Mark Fowler, are providing deep interpretations. You are a Master! 🫡
So I've listened countless times to both this piece, and Hans Zimmer in concert: I noticed that despite the similarity in "Time Is Collapsing," there is a faint difference in the way you play, and speaking on my behalf, THAT is your magic. You have a way of bringing the music to life, captivating the heart and the mind, and concluding with a unique that's difficult to put in words. It's far beyond striking the right keys, and this is why is l love your music.
I'm 17 and I started to play piano when I was 15. My music teacher helped me with the basic chords(easy to learn) which helped me to figure out combinations.I didn't learn to play the notes. I practised by mysel and learned to play it by ear. It takes time and requires a lot of practise. The thing that made me be patient was that I found it amusing and relaxing, and each time I learned something new I felt like "wow, is this me?" and it gave me positive energy to go on with piano playing.
the strings are simply dual voiced with the piano, its just a case of pressing a button on the piano and the strings play automatically in the background when you play the piano keys....I have no control over the strings, they are played with every key, so right and left hand notes all have strings playing.
Most songs for pianists like yourself, its easy to remember after playing them numerous times. But even if a music is forgotten, I usually tend to remember after looking and listening to the music just once.
I agree with you here. Hans Zimmer is easily becoming one of my FAVORITE musicians of all time. His work, even on anime such as blood+, is just spectacular. He embodies the contemporary, classical, and then disharmonic chords in music that both bach and beethoven had and mastered.
Can't believe what I am hearing from a keyboard. I have been listening to the TH-cam orchestral version with Zimmer himself... I have been obsessed with Hans Zimmer since "Gladiator" with Lisa Gerrard. Hearing this I would love to hear to try to do a "Suite" like you did with LOTR. Inspiring, truly. Toronto gal ♥
Inception is one of my all time favorite movies! And this is extremely impressive, I've played piano for over 9 years and I'm not sure that I'd even be able to play this
I think I have never watched a video as much as this one (and I've watched it almost every day the past weeks) because it touches me so much! Great job, Mark!!
big difference between popularity and how good someone is at something...you dont have to be good at something nowadays to become far more popular than other more creative persons, and not talking about myself there, but today its all about x factor and BGT, and they are popular shows which generate loads of cash, but they dont care who wins or makes it far in the 'competitions' as long as people watch the show and vote.
Mark Fowler Finally, somebody that gets it. Right face, right time. Most pop stars are not the most talented. They just have a very marketable look or appeal to a certain demographic.
I like to sit sometimes with coffe, and listen and watch you. It relaxed me a lot, it takes me a far far away from my problems. Thanks for your passion :*
Mark do you think anyone could be this good with practice or its all down to raw talent ? I've been playing for 11 years and can barely manage chopsticks hahahahah
+Kate Martin some of it is talent of course, with some people its all talent, I dont wish to say whether that is me or not at the risk of coming across the wrong way, but there is a lot of practice involved regardless, practice I would say is the most important part of achieving goals musically.
+Francisco G I think talent is involved to reach the top. So, can I be the best pianist with endless practice? I think that if you aren't talented it's imposible, even with the hardest practice. But, can I be a really good pianist practicing hard? Of course, regardless of your talent.
Mark Fowler lol. Your awesome and earnt a subscriber! I'm just going to check if you have Legend of Zelda... If you don't, I would consider it... Its awesome!
Mark you probably wont see this but if you will IMO i think you should or at least try to contact maybe for example Universal Studios or a big movie company and i mean of course if you want. I think your gonna have a good future of musical!
Hi, I read all comments I get and try to answer all if I can, I appreciate the comments and what you say, it's not as easy as that though trust me, I don't do bad anyway and am progressing well I feel, but things don't happen over night unless you're very lucky, it's about working hard to get somewhere, I want to work hard now that's how I feel,if something great happens along the way then that's even better.
I'm high I know probably in the region of 500 plus pieces of music from memory, so it adds up to many hours that I actally know from memory, so 8 minutes is nothing haha, but it's natural to me, others it won't be, but that's how I grew up, not being able to read sheet music, I had no other choice but to learn it all by ear, in that way it cements itself into your memory.
Mark Fowler Dear Mark, I love everything about the piano. The way it sounds, the way it feels when you play... everything. My dream is to learn pieces by ear and be able to play it..learning from sheet music isn't giving me much satisfaction when I play haha. What is the best method of practice to play songs by ear in your opinion? How do I get there from being a noob at playing by the ear ? I don't have much experience at playing so a piece like this would probably take me a month easy to learn from sheet music, personally. I would never give up till I get there. Please give me a few pointers if u can! Thanks so much for making these covers, I listen to them every morning, can't start my day without listening to inception in the bathroom and interstellar while driving to school :D
Time I think is excellent for a beginner, but just the basic 4 chords, you can learn timing and basic chord changes, but will have a nice effect as you love the piece already, not all of time is easy though, particularly the part with the repeated notes in right hand - guitar riff parts for example, but you dont have to play that.
Does anyone know a way to contact Mark? I have a song that I know he would masterfully play but I also know that he isn't going to see my insignificant comment.
Dont let any one tell you its a cliche thing - playing a movie soundtrack on the piano - its a beautiful song, one of the most gripping soundracks I'v ever heard, and I've watched a lot of movies.
There's so much dissonance in "Dream Is Collapsing," yet I find it to be so beautiful at the same time. Hans Zimmer is my favorite composer. Thank you for doing him justice!!!!
Dear Mark, I have the Yamaha P115, but it doesn't have a recorder from which I can transfer recordings to my computer, or anywhere else. Someone has asked me to purchase a Focusrite audio interface and record it through that. But here I'm seeing you record with another device. What is it? And what do you recommend me in your experience? Much Regards
hi, I used a portable edirol r-09 which are discontinued now I think, but even something cheap like a Zoom h1 can record your piano in 16 bit wave audio which is standard CD quality, but any audio interface works too of course but I think you need a PC to connect that with, to be honest I have no experience in that, only the handheld recorders like edirol r-09 or zoom recorders. They all do the same job essentially, so you can rest assured you can find something affordable to record the piano with, it annoys me these companies dont add in the recorder like in the higher models, it must just be a tiny chip they need to add to allow recording, wouldn't cost anything extra.
Mark Fowler Dear Mark, which piano model is this? which model do you suggest to buy now? Is there any additional connectors or interface with your piano for this much of quality?
Dinesh Kumar T S this is an old roland model, current model you would want to look at is lx7/lx17, the latter is wildly expensive though so I wouldn't recommend it personally, these pianos have built in wave audio recorders so you don't need anything extra to record or get a decent quality of sound.
You can truly appreciate the sense of mystery and darkness from the piece from fowler's piano version. Only now listening to you playing it that I can really grasp the darkness of this piece.
Thanks to Hams Zimmer for writing this Masterpiece especially the passionate and haunting Time piece, and mark you have done a great job transcribing it and played an evolving rhythm, thanks for sharing your talent with us.
For example i think Kyle's version emphasises the build up of the song. 'Time' is not a soft piece; it starts soft, but it progresses into a loud and strong melody. The original track achieves this power through an orchestra, Kyle can replicate this with only his piano. That's what i believe this interpretation lacks, the grandeur. Although i'll admit this is a VERY good cover. Much better than i could do!
Wow, you are an amazing human being, thanks so much for sharing your passion with us, we are forever in debt to your talent. I can really see your hand trembling by "Time" starts. SO BEAUTIFUL
I'm sorry but I've listened to so many covers of this and by far this is the best mark ... And I am so glad you collaborated with the sax that was absolutely beautiful .. Love the talent keep it up
I have just discovered you. You are a fantastic pianist and my favourite composer is Hans Zimmer too. I love to watch/listen to you play. You are brilliant. I would love to learn how to play the piano. So beautiful.
I am not graded, this is a relatively simple piece of music, Zimmer only adopts 4 different chords in the same ongoing progression for both pieces I play in this song, Time is very easy, I cant see why you couldnt play that though.
Encore merci pour cette magnifique interprétation que je ne me lasse pas d'écouter :) De toutes, la vôtre reste celle qui m'a marqué et que j'aime le plus. Merci et bravo ;)
I just love music and playing piano, the more you play the better you get in theory, its the same with anything, some people get good very quickly, others take longer, some people can never do things, the mind is very complex thing, I know mine is anyway :)
HOW DID THE INCEPTION SOUNDTRACK NOT WIN THE OSCAR I AM STILL MAD ABOUT THIS TO THIS DAY
Yo...same thing with Interstellar.
Mee too bro, the oscars sucks
Diamond Gaming it's because his music is more simplistic and less complex probably than other composers, he seems to lose out to Alexandre desplat often.
Mark Fowler I think a soundtrack should be judged on how it made you feel and I have never felt more in a movie because of its soundtrack than in Inception and Interstellar
Good point, well Alexandre desplat is a genius too. love his music
This guy is a miracle...
You can even see the holy light coming from his butt...
JackyL1314 is the first time u can say holy shit literally
monkeyo Archon lol that was genius :D
JackyL1314 hahahahah I actually loled at this
JackyL1314 ahaahahahh your best
+JackyL1314 stop loling to much over here
After 10 years i still come to hear this Performance . Great
Same
This song really got to me, I am a 7 year piano student.. And my love for piano was starting to fade. This piece renewed my love for piano, and I'm truly grateful you put this up. :) Play on Mark!
so powerful with the violins there...
I just found a Mark Fowler playlist I`ve spent half the day listening to his videos while reading a good book. Best afternoon yet.

0:05 Dream is Collapsing
2:30 Time
These are the exacty titles of the collection.
Most songs for pianists like yourself, its easy to remember after playing them numerous times. But even if a music is forgotten, I usually tend to remember after looking and listening to the music just once.
Listening to you play brings me peace please don't ever stop 2014 could use an artist like you :)
I'm in love with you since 2010 when I discovered this video, I was 13 years old and now I'm 22. I love you Mark
Hans Zimmer is a genius. Mark Fowler is extremely talented. Why not both?
point well made
I agree with you here. Hans Zimmer is easily becoming one of my FAVORITE musicians of all time. His work, even on anime such as blood+, is just spectacular. He embodies the contemporary, classical, and then disharmonic chords in music that both bach and beethoven had and mastered.

already a miracle how beautiful this song was, now on piano, it's miracleception
You're so good the sun shines out your.... piano stool :)
I'm watching this over and over again because it's brilliant
Can someone get this man a major record deal already?? Seriously, Mark has more talent by just blinking his eyes than bloody Justin Beiber.

I like to sit sometimes with coffe, and listen and watch you. It relaxed me a lot, it takes me a far far away from my problems. Thanks for your passion :*
Time always makes me really sad
+Crashing Foot Why?
When you watch Hanz Zimmer perform it, its even more emotional.
That was just so awesome. Thanks for this video, I'd start playing piano again, which I left 10 years back.

Inception is my favorite movie.
You work well with this song, keep up the good work.

Mark Fowler Yeah sorry if I offended you in any way, I was just taking into consideration just how many views and comments each video gets.
***** This is a beautiful language.
I must learn it.
Racoon in the closet Why didn't you share your request?

why dont u share with us your music sheets? it would do us a great help....
i mean for this song
If they are in copyright legally, your hands are tied from sharing unfortunately :(
no its my own arrangement by ear, no sheets unfortunately, but Time is a very simple piece anyway.
Anyone here from just having a good taste in music
Best piano performance of Time ive seen so far
Aerosmith Dream On :)
i keep watching this over and over again. i cant get over how amazing it is
and.....subscribes immediately..
Thanks to Hams Zimmer for writing this Masterpiece especially the passionate and haunting Time piece, and mark you have done a great job transcribing it and played an evolving rhythm, thanks for sharing your talent with us.
The softness of Time is beautiful, much better then that Kyle wanker :-).
I think that's a bit harsh. I for one prefer Kyle's version, and so do many people. It's purely subjective. They both have merit in their own ways.
+Luka Orkibi I prefer this as it's somewhat truer to the original version, though that isn't to say Landry's interpretation is of no merit
with every song you play I always can hear the story. this one touched my heart the most.
Best piece on the piano ive ever heard
Mark its a stunning performance....your finger moves like waves in ocean....Awesome buddy !!!
you cannot tell with words how amazing this is . I just need this sheets.
I think Time is enhanced ten fold by me including the strings, that's my own personal opinion.
So moving, so wonderful. Thank you Mark.
amazing mark i started to cry at 3.15 you have the timing so spot on man
Time. still gives me the chills 4 years down the line such a meaningful composition, probably my Favourite film piece to date.
Wow, you are an amazing human being, thanks so much for sharing your passion with us, we are forever in debt to your talent. I can really see your hand trembling by "Time" starts. SO BEAUTIFUL
Anyone who dislikes this lacks any appreciation for raw, passionate talent. Fantastic job, man. Most impressive and expressive.
This is best cover of the "Time" track I've ever heard. No one before has covered this track before with this much perfection.
This piece I really love, it is the best of all. I have to listen to it every day.
Dramatically perfect with sound and spotlight
its just piano and strings dual voiced, its a simple press of the button on the piano :)
I never stop listening to that piano cover
oh wow..that was so moving. It's clear how passionate you are. Thank you so much for sharing -I'm almost in tears x
listening to this while raining makes it so amazing...
I'm sorry but I've listened to so many covers of this and by far this is the best mark ... And I am so glad you collaborated with the sax that was absolutely beautiful .. Love the talent keep it up
That was before I heard the second half!!! Even more incredible!! gave me shivers.
Been listening to this for years.
Time is one of the most epic songs ever!
Very well played and respect to Hans Zimmer
Wonderful, Mark. Absolutely great performance. Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful talent.
I have just discovered you. You are a fantastic pianist and my favourite composer is Hans Zimmer too. I love to watch/listen to you play. You are brilliant. I would love to learn how to play the piano. So beautiful.
You're just amazing. You feel what you play by intuition.
Love Bach. Love Zimmer. This is a fantastic performance!
Emotion and technique: Perfect!
I am not graded, this is a relatively simple piece of music, Zimmer only adopts 4 different chords in the same ongoing progression for both pieces I play in this song, Time is very easy, I cant see why you couldnt play that though.
You are just so good.. Had no words how to say what you did there!!! It`s just so wonderfull... Thank you for this.
having that neurological defect can make you an even more competent/skilled pianist.
Looks like the music is summoning an angel from his arse. I can see it! It's glorious!
Yes Mark it is most moving for me...Thank You!
check the description in a minute ;)
Wonderful! I love the soundtrack to this movie...
Encore merci pour cette magnifique interprétation que je ne me lasse pas d'écouter :) De toutes, la vôtre reste celle qui m'a marqué et que j'aime le plus. Merci et bravo ;)
this gives me goosebumbs
