Are big tidy up jobs any better than doing easy lawn cuts? Neglected commercial site completed.

  • This is the final part of an ongoing job to clear the overgrown areas around a large commercial site. This type of work can provide some variety to regular maintenance but it's often harder work and needs a lot more kit which makes you question if it's worth doing.#groundsmaintenance #lewisgardenservicesltd #stihl

    I put one medium sized clearance job on every day and then a few mowing jobs to finish, works for me.

    I love doing those type of jobs. There a welcome change from just mowing. Only last Saturday I did a residential back garden. 6ft high nettles the full length and breath of it. I got the mulching blade on it and it was down in no time. Price wise it worked out very nicely. I'd do one every day if I could. 👍

    I don't mind cutting lawns. But I love the big over grown cutbacks the boss finds. Brushcutter chainsaw magic. Also I don't know what happened to the last video. But I've had three interactions with life's slowest learners

      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the risk you take using the hedge trimmer I guess but that's never ideal. Heard a few horror stories tho with wire and mulching blades, I know you can fit the proper guards but never seen anyone use one.🤔

    Good honest work. At least it's going to be a regular job so you do have a vested interest and the work will become easier. Have you ever thought of using napalm?

    Just got to the "shoe" bit.. it takes a special type of person to do gardening for a living. We're a tough breed. Not even about being a hard arse tough, there is that but I'm talking mentally, to be able to do a hard, grubby, dirty and loud job with not always but sometimes rude as hell customers or members of public and yet keep a smile on and grin through it and enjoy your work, or at least try to, takes patience. Good practice.

    • @LewisgardenservicesLtd
      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You've right and I think less people like this type of work as time goes by, give it a few years I'm sure it'll be more of a wilderness/ wildlife management role which may not be a bad thing. Until then I'll still be swinging hedge trimmers and the like around 😅take care👍

    I have to agree, commercial work isn't great money anymore, the hayday is long gone, iv stopped doing any commercial site's, but jobs that make you sweat and challenging are much more interesting, compared to mowing any day, I swear the building moved, when pulling the ivy lol.
    Hope you had spare boots in van.

      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I think you're right, had a commercial today try and put our schedule back a few weeks and that's all hedges but tried to jump on the ' it hasn't grown much in the warm weather ' bandwagon 🙄 The old redback boots soon dried out, this was one of those hottest days😂😅

    For some reason I find working on one job all day much more tiring than doing 4-5 different jobs. Maybe it's having a break travelling in between or change of muscles used...not sure.

    • @LewisgardenservicesLtd
      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got to agree with you, you just don't get a break or find an easy rhythm of work on these bigger jobs. This last bit was the easiest tho so wasn't too bad👍

    always carry a spare pair of socks been there done that there is more money in mowing if you have a tight round but having rideons your no better off than you are with pedestrian just a bit more knackered rideons are harder to work on need the space and storage aswell as the transportation etc
