Honestly, I was starting to worry you got lost in Tamriel somewhere! Welcome back to the land of the living, oh wise sage of Elder Scrolls wisdom. My gaming experience has been incomplete without your guidance. Time to binge-watch and catch up on all the tips I've been missing out on! 🎮🔥
ive been off and on with ESO since its release. got to score push world records on PC-NA for trials, gotten almost every trifecta for PvE and ran PvP ball groups and solo, ive done it all. For me its hard to teach newer players because I feel I havent been able to relate to them for years now. gonna start sharing this video to everyone who I know is interested. just 30 minutes saved me hours of explaination and your smooth and focused video is super easy to watch. you've earned a sub and like for sure. thanks! Edit: also just wanted to add a point that works on PC-NA, idk how console culture is but if you need help out in the world or you have specific questions. just ask! there are a lot more friendly people out there, especially veteran players IMO. sometimes Ill just ride around grahtwood or newer DLC zones and answer questions while doing quests I still havent done yet or material farming :D
I really appreciate the compliments! And I absolutely love your suggestion. Sure, there are people out there who might be less than helpful, but in my experience those people are way outnumbered by players who are happy to lend a hand.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Btw, you can DD 90% of ESO’s content with ~70k dps. If that still seems high, try slowing your rotation down a bit to make sure you’re weaving light attacks after every skill. Light attacks are a pretty large source of overall damage, so if you can get that piece right, then you’ll have a strong foundation from which you can build up to those big numbers!
Thanks for helping me understand the different stages. I am still trying the different gear sets for my style of play. I need to improve in all areas. Thanks for your videos.
Hey mate - just came across this video - awesome guide! Ive been struggling in the orange zone forever and your advice was very helpful! Looking forward to the next video :)
Make a beeline for the blue CP passive Preparation. It effectively makes the game 10% easier. Another advantage to the standard 4 player formation is that healers will fire damage buffs as well as heals through the whole group. Tanks will usually aim to strip boses of around 14k resistance, meaning that you only need to bring around 4k. Mag DDs will be the over the top here, but Stam DDs can get to 4k. This is one reason why DDs have different setups for overland content where there typically isn't a tank.
@@TheESOTips Forgot to mention - my Stam DDs use Lover mundus for extra penetration overland and something else for group play. it varies per char. For a long time the ideal trial setup was all Mag DDs and the tank only provided about 10k stripping but added something else usually via a set. This isn't really the case anymore, especially in casual groups through the new finder. My typical tank setup is Infused Crusher weapon for Pierce Armor, Tremorscale, Yolna and Crimson Oath to add up to around 14k. For off tanking I use Powerful Assault and Razor Caltrops to get to the same figure. More costly on stamina but off tanking phases don't last as long. General takeaway though is that even if you plan to play mostly as a DD, spend some time also playing support to understand what they do and how. Most intermediate DDs think they're getting better when they have a quick slick run. They don't realise that thanks to good supports the enemies are naked and confused and the group's damage is being buffed. But supports can only do that properly if you understand positioning. And please don't play Legolas from 40m away and insult the healer when you get killed...
@@Pooter-it4yg more great advice. Thanks again! Something else to consider regarding the armor reduction piece is whether there’s an Alkosh DD in group. Pretty standard for most trial groups these days. Totally agree on the understanding what your supports are doing piece. Can’t coordinate if you don’t know what your other group members are doing!
@@TheESOTips I'd say that Alkosh is only really needed these days in hard runs so the tank can free up a set to run shields. For all other situations DDs would be better off with something else because the penetration is already covered.
great guide! some things to consider adding to version 2 (or part 2?) importance of trial dummy in learning/practicing your rotation, esologs as a feedback tool, not as a big dong dps measuring contest.
Yes, that’s a great point! The dummy is definitely more of a training tool than anything else. Although I think some people do like the big dong measuring contest aspect. 😂
Watched this video in 2 parts but I think you mentioned you would do similar videos for Tank and Healer roles if there is interest. I would definitely be interested in those as I just started playing this game for the first time 10/2023 and started with DPS. Would like to get into Tanking Healing when I get some other objectives done ingame.
Speaking as a dungeon healer to DPS players... - Many MMOs, such as WoW, emphasize watching health bars and direct healing. ESO isn't like that. In ESO, most healing and buffing is AOE and heal over time (HoT). Therefore, healers have a rotation to keep HoT and buffs ticking on the group and debuffs ticking on the boss, along with doing damage when we can and handling situations as they arise. - As a healer, my first priority in a boss fight is always the tank, because the tank is what keeps the boss from running amok and one-shotting everyone. - What this means for DPS is that much of the time, the heals and buffs you get are an AOE side effect of me keeping up my rotation on the tank. If the DPS spread out to max range on opposite sides of the room, then somebody's probably not getting healed, and that's not my fault. So stay in range of myself and the tank if you want heals and buffs. - The ideal group positioning for most bosses is tank > boss < DPS < healer. Positioned this way, the big boss damage is pointed away from the group, and I can heal and buff everybody in a cone in front of me. - Please kill the adds and stop standing in crap. Thanks.
Well done! As I mentioned in the video, the continuum isn’t one size fits all. Some players might be able to complete harder achievements earlier, while others might struggle with the same achievements at CP3000. My goal with this video was to provide a guideline that would be closely applicable to the majority of players.
@@TheESOTips I feel like the only thing I would need to complete the hardest content in the game is proper gear sets, although, more CP would certainly help to get all those passive nodes.
CP itself isn’t what gets you prepared for the hard content. What really matters is the experience/knowledge/reps you gain as you earn that CP. Seems like you’re crushing that aspect as well. Love the confidence!
I've enjoyed the video, however personally I feel taking CP as an indicator when to do or when to be able to do certain stuff is rough... Each and every individual has their own journey through ESO and in the End, it comes down to what you spent your time with and what your experience level is and Not where your CP number is. Do you get more dmg mitigation with more cp? yes, however on veteran content a lot of Red Areas you're dead with or without CP, so learn to avoid damage is still Key ;-) Do you do more dmg with more CP? yes, but since cp 2.0 the difference is smaller than people think.... remember it always scales of the base dmg you're doing without CP.... I recently started on PC an alt account out of curiosity.... (CP2900ish on main account) Of course i knew exactly what to do - First time in vSS on CP195 as DD (not even close of beeing bottom dps), on yolna the lack of gear and cp was the most notable DPS wise.... Lokke/Navhi not so much due to better positioning in Trash phases where it was easier to compensate. Second time vSS on Maintank and Offtank with about 280 CP, there i wanted a tiny bit more for some dmg mitigation cp's.... even that would have been possible below cp200 I feel... Like said, in the end it comes down to getting familiar with the content as nothing beats experience in this game while CP is only a number which will grow over time.....
Completely understand where you’re coming from. The CP versus content level recommendations I included are really just that - recommendations. If someone watching this video is, say, CP600, but hasn’t put together a great setup or gotten experience with the mechanics discussed in the sections before the orange portion of the continuum, then they might not be ready for vet trials. On the other hand, someone at CP900 might have essentially focused only on doing hard content since they started and could be capable of clearing content in the upper red range. These are general suggestions, and there are absolutely plenty of exceptions. My goal with this video was to get people who don’t think they can do vet content, hard modes, etc. to try it out, and to provide guidance for how to progress to the next level - not to say that someone can or can’t participate in certain aspects of the game based solely on their character’s level or cp. I do agree with your points, just want to clarify my thought process when putting the continuum together. Appreciate the feedback!
I agree the gear is kinda garbage, but I think the real point of IA is simply to be another type of content people can do, and that it’s mainly two-person focused, which hasn’t been an option in the past. There are other rewards besides the gear, too. Overall, I think it’s a fantastic addition to the game. Especially considering that you can do IA even if you only have the base game.
Lol. Buddy, at CP1645 I've barely cleared normal maelstrom and have never ventured into vateshran. The only trial I'm vaguely familiar with is Sunspire, which is why I have a non-perfected set of false god. I run that with mother's sorrow. I've done maybe half a dozen dungeons on vet and have Helmets in various weights. I don't remember any of the mechanics. The only mythics I've got are pale order and wild hunt rings. Leads for others are hidden behind content I avoid. I mostly solo the content I do, and don't even run my random daily for transmutes. I've tried the endless archive but I keep getting lord warden dusk and he kills me, ending my progression for that day. I main a breton mag blade and am trying to level a khajiit arcanist who is currently magicka but I may change that. The arcanist is fun but it's discouraging that she doesn't have her mount upgraded, research done, crafting maxed, etc. I thought your video was interesting and informative, but the content you think someone at my level should be doing is way out of my league. I can't join your guild for help because I play on Xbox. I've been looking for a trials teaching group for six months with no success. Thanks for the info but it's not realistic for me.
We are on Xbox NA primarily! If you’re on NA, what’s your GT? Let me get you an invite and we can 100% help you progress through the content you’re avoiding. I understand your position. With not much vet content under your belt, it makes sense that you don’t see yourself being able to do vet trials, hard modes, etc., and if you’re not interested in doing that stuff, then there’s plenty of other content in the game for sure. Not saying you should be doing vet trials, etc., just that, at your level, you have all the passives, skill points, CP, etc. that you would need. But I promise you that, if you are interested in progressing further into the harder content, with a little guidance, you could do it. You’re taking the first step right here by reaching out. DoT would love to have you!
@@TheESOTips Hi! I don't know why I thought you were on PC. I'm on Xbox NA. My GT is ShadokatPH66. I need to drop a guild to receive an invite, and I will do that tonight when I sneak in to Cyrodiil and IC to get event tickets. Thank you for responding!
I honestly don't understand how people get to those caps.. even maximizing crit I can only get to about 55% crit and if I maximize penetration I get to almost 16k but nowhere near the 18k cap, but from what you mention here I should optimize for the pen first.. which would put me at about 16k pen and 45% crit
Are you considering the buffs/debuffs provided by others in the group? For example, tanks typically inflict both major and minor breach on enemies, reducing those enemies’ resistances by a total of just under 9k. That reduction in resistance also reduces the amount of penetration you need. I’d recommend checking out the SkinnyCheeks guides I linked in the video description for a detailed breakdown of both penetration and crit damage sources and the amount of each that you’ll need when certain buffs and debuffs are present. Once you’ve met the targets for those stats, you can push toward more crit chance with any remaining space you have in your build.
Buffs and debuffs are super important in ESO. It can be somewhat difficult to keep up with them all, but I’d definitely recommend familiarizing yourself with them if your goal is to min/max. Sounds like you’re on the right track thinking about the different stats you need. Good luck, and keep it up!
You can definitely do vet dungeons on non-hard mode at CP300. Should try to learn mechs on normal for DLC dungeons, but most vet dungeons are doable at CP300.
Are you referring to the CP numbers? Just have to play. Everything in the game gives experience. CP isn’t really the focus here though. It’s much more important to learn the skills/knowledge/mechanics I discussed throughout the video if you’re hoping to challenge yourself with the harder content in ESO. Keep it up. You got this!
Super wholesome and well made. However, arcanist is by far the worst class to use zenkosh bc of their long channel and lack of sticky dots fyi. Id also recommend u turn on dmg recieved numbers so u can see what u can and cannot block/cast. There are many attacks in every trial that cannot be blocked. And no offense but wardens is widely regarded as the worst dps class by far, yet thats all thats shown in the video, even when discussing the alleged “hard” content. I wouldve mentioned that
Appreciate the corrections/suggestions, Colby! No offense taken, I know warden has fallen out of favor for damage. My warden is my main and the face of my channel, so I like to use him throughout most of my content. FYI, my DK did make a short appearance as well. Additionally, although wardens don’t hit as hard as other classes currently, it’s not like you can’t clear content with them. Sure, don’t use them to score push, but they’re not unviable by any means.
Fully unlocking all DPS-improving CP passives requires about 1,200 CP. Damage mitigation is also extremely important for late and end game content, and fully unlocking all mitigation passives on top of DPS passives requires about 1,600 CP. Anything above that is generally just for convenience with respect to being able to swap around your active nodes.
Step 1. Master dw weapon front bar Step 2. VH staff back bar Step 3 magicka: rally cry Step 4 stam: essence of thief Step 4 monster set Maarselok or zaan. GUIDE COMPLETE this game is ez and shit
Bro please disable screen shaking its horrible and messes with your Bar swaps... Everyone should be able to clear everything up until God Slayer. They made the game way too easy and dmg way too high. Nobody should be afraid and everyone can play Arcanist. No real challenge up until the newer Trials.
I haven’t had any issue with the screen shake and really don’t even notice it, but great tip for those who would prefer it to be disabled! I’ll have to disagree with you on the other piece though. While achievements like Dromathra Destroyer, for example, might not have been a challenge to you, there are many players who have a hard time with it and other content of similar difficulty. Sure, that level of content is possible even at lower CP than I suggest in the video once you have enough experience, exposure to mechs, raid awareness, etc., but most have to work their way up to that. That said, I totally agree with you on the point about not being afraid to try pushing for the harder achievements. Gotta get your hands dirty to gain the knowledge/skill needed for those newer hard modes and trifectas!
I was streaming and screenshake was brought up to me for the first time 2 days ago. I had never heard of it tbh. I am not sure about the affect it has on skills like Wall of Elements, as stated above. But, removing screen shake does help smooth out your POV. For people who evaluate streams to recruit for Core teams, this feature is better disabled.

You can definitely do vet dungeons on non-hard mode at CP300. Should try to learn mechs on normal for DLC dungeons, but most vet dungeons are doable at CP300.
6:57 YES I WANT TO HEAL TF OUTTA PEOPLE
Might take some time to get it together, but I’m planning to make the next iteration of this guide healer-focused!
I have no clue how I can achieve those numbers, I thought I was doing okay lol
Are you referring to the CP numbers? Just have to play. Everything in the game gives experience. CP isn’t really the focus here though. It’s much more important to learn the skills/knowledge/mechanics I discussed throughout the video if you’re hoping to challenge yourself with the harder content in ESO. Keep it up. You got this!
Thankyouuuu!!!🎉
Definitely a tanking and healing video would be fantastic
soloing a dragon as a melee character is not fun
Love dragon fights though! They’re one of my favorite additions to the game.
just saying CP has nothing to do with dps after like 800cp lmao
Fully unlocking all DPS-improving CP passives requires about 1,200 CP. Damage mitigation is also extremely important for late and end game content, and fully unlocking all mitigation passives on top of DPS passives requires about 1,600 CP. Anything above that is generally just for convenience with respect to being able to swap around your active nodes.
14 minutes into this video an im seriously consider quitting.
May I ask why?
Step 1. Master dw weapon front bar
Step 2. VH staff back bar
Step 3 magicka: rally cry
Step 4 stam: essence of thief
Step 4 monster set Maarselok or zaan.
GUIDE COMPLETE this game is ez and shit
Is this what they call a troll? Might be an ok setup in pvp (emphasis on the ok), but you’re not doing much in pve.
