  • After watching 'The Usual Suspects' too many times, I decided that the story that most people see isn't the story that is really there. This is my theory about the secrets and mysteries of the movie. If you haven't seen 'The Usual Suspects' then you don't want to watch this. If you have seen it, then you should be either irritated or entertained. Or maybe even convinced.

I really like this theory! It's well thought out and you have a lot of evidence for it. Ultimately, everyone has their own opinion. The audience gets to choose what they think happened and who is who because the only evidence of what happened to get to where they did comes from Verbal, who we all know is an unreliable narrator. The viewer gets to decide what they believe, and that's what makes this movie so damn interesting and influential. The near undefined plot is what defined this movie's legacy.

Well, there aren't too many people on TH-cam more obscure than I am. But for some reason this video is getting more views now, and I have no idea why.

This is excellent and I agree with you.
I have not seen this movie in over 20 years, but I always liked it. I must rewatch it now.

Dean Keaton is ex cop not Keyzer Soze. Verbal Kint is Keyzer Soze.

You should also make a video "What if Walter White was not Heisenberg?" But jokes aside, thanks for the video!

    This is a good theory!

I have another theory, Verbal Kint was the weaker of all the crew, so he basically swimming with the fishes, it would be easy for Keyser Soze simply kill him and take his place, and seeing that in the prologue Keyser Soze was right and well, not a cripple, the story that Keaton and Verbal Kint know each other in prison could be a lie, there is a phrase that says if you would make a good lie, it need a element of true in it, the crew, Redfoot and Kobayashi were real people, everything else is debatable, because Kint in an unreliable narrator.

This seems quite plausible to me. I'll have to consider that the next time I watch.

Verbal Soze does have a reason to kill Edie though. If she's working on Arturo's extradition hearing, then she may have information that could give him away. Since he doesn't know, he kills her to make sure.

That's good. Clever. But it's flawed. If Soze decided to kill Edie on the off chance she knows something, then killing her would not be enough. He would have to kill absolutely everyone who was part of that case. He would have to kill everyone they worked with, everyone they spoke to, everyone they called. He would have to burn all the papers, destroy the car she is using and so on. He would have to leave a trail of blood and destruction that would rival the legend of his beginning.
The reason he doesn't do that is because he doesn't have to. Kobayashi works with Edie on the case, and is privy to all information that she has. Her bodyguard is with her every moment that she is working. They could easily have other agents working with her as well. And back in those days tapping phones was pretty easy to do, so they know what she has discussed. They know what she knows and what she doesn't.
Your theory can still work if they know of something that she and she alone discovered. So it is still possible. It's a bit of a stretch though.

    Koybashi killed Edie for Keyser.

If Dean Keaton was Keyser, then what is the point of Edy being brought in for extradition deposition?

    • @nicksradio8998
      @nicksradio8998  หลายเดือนก่อน

An intelligent question. Edy is part of the deposition in order to bring information to Keaton. If Arturro Marquez had already identified him, then there is no reason to kill him, and instead he must go into hiding. He knows to assassinate Marquez, because Edy knows that Marquez hasn't named or described him yet. He can get an idea if the feds know where Marquez is, so he knows if his operation is safe. If she has the chance, and if Marquez knows who she is, which would be implied by this theory, then she can even lean on Marquez, perhaps even threaten him, to keep him from speaking out. There are a number of reasons why Keyser-Keaton would want an inside man (or woman) on the deposition. Even with 'Kobayashi' already there, a second pair of eyes, especially with skills and connections that Kobayashi lacks, protects Keyser from many possible mistakes.

A lie is not lie if it doesn't die

The stories and theories have dead ends because Keyser Soze is coming up with all of it on the fly. He got a group together, they did some jobs, and all were killed after.

Kiser had Kobayashi kill Edie because she got the 5 guys out of the slammer before he was ready

lol your theory is super convoluted and sucks overall for the sake of this (like my all time favorite) movie
Verbal is the wicked omnipresent Soze.. he orchestrated and wrangled the wills of men. Stop being so neurotic 🙄😂
