Just want to say thanks for this video. I just finished replacing my alternator and this is 1 of the videos helped me a lot. It was my first time, took me 1 hour and 45 mins. The mechanic quoted 500 for a new alternator plus 1.5 hours of work which was 200 so total of 700 I ended just buying a part of Facebook for 200 and attempted it.
Hello Izzy, Thank you so much for this video. I followed along and just successfully swapped out my alternator. Mine looked to be the original and like yours one side was caked in oily dirt. Thanks again for taking the time to put this guide up. May Jesus Christ bless you.
God after 160k miles, this is the next thing I have to do... Already replaced car battery, car starter, spark plugs, ignition coils, purge control valve.. All on my own to save $$$.. but I am having dimming lights on my radio system so I am just going to go ahead and replace this anyway then after that the fuel pump replacement and hopefully this should last me at least six to 12 months until I get a new car. Never getting a used BMW ever again.
these are common car issues, not just BMW. at 160K miles a starter, ignition coil and battery will be bad on any car. In fact, on a non-BMW, they would be be well before 160K miles
I can tell you I love these cars but holy crap can they can become money pits. Just did my coolant tank, found out one of the front tires were getting chewed up while doing the oil change. While up at the tire shop shelling out 1k for new tires, balance and alignment I get codes pointing to maybe my alternator or battery going bad which is another $300 for the alternator and another $300 for battery while I just spent like $400 on new expansion tank, new cap, coolant and some new seals.
can you help me I got all the way up to the part of removing the alternator and it will wiggle but will not come all the way out. I removed all bolts and cables.
Not a big car guy but replaced alternator in my jeep a few years ago. Would anyone mind listing the necessary tools? I watched the whole video, but again, i don't know all the lingo and i want to make sure I've got all the necessary tools to get it done before taking anything apart
Hey bro i got a 2011 328i so i try to start the car this morning all i hear is a click every time i try to start i replace my starter and batter 2 year ago and today i bring the battery to autozone to get it charge it only got 23% after it change to 100% plug it back in still not start but it only start when i use a jumper cable to start after warm up for 20 min go for a drive for like 10 min and car show up battery light and all light flashing and wiper going off car went to limp mode and bearly can drive home then turn off by it self and i got ton of weird code and car feel like it missfire too is this a symptom of the alternator?
two years is a pretty good amount of time, it could be the battery. If it has a dead cell or is giving out it could cause that issue. now if you put a new battery and it dies within a week or so, then that is for sure the alternator. two years is a good while though
335i has N54 engine and different intake manifold and bracket holding the alternator. BMW made it impossible to remove alternator without taking the oil filter housing or the manifold. Please revise your title.
Yo I changed the alt on my 07’ 328i e92 coupe and I got permanent seatbelt & airbag red dash lights on… how do I get rid of that? Also, in general how much would this cost me u think? Saw aftermarket alt for 215 labor 150 so bout a little
I got an aftermarket alternator from Oreillys, no issues at all. That’s pretty good pricing for $400 with install. I’ll be dropping a video on how to fix the red airbag light and seatbelt light error here in acouple days actually
check the BST connection on the positive battery connector (the red one in the boot that connects directly to the terminal on your battery. Often times it comes loose when you're jostling around the terminals to disconnect or replace batteries. **If you find it's disconnected make sure not to plug it back in before disconnecting the negative side...It has a little explosive device rigged up to it similar to an airbag. You may need to clear your codes with a scan tool afterwards to get rid of the light on the dash.
I believe $250-275. OEM Bosch is about $400ish but honestly for the lifetime warranty and to be able to go down the street and exchange a new one, this aftermarket one is a good bet

All of those issues listed aren’t specific to BMW’s and are issues you’ll find with any cars. The only difference will be high labor rates
@@IzzyE9X its that all the parts of are higher quality level and or more advanced systems so everything is more expensive.
@@stevensims3342 that’s a fair point
Excellent video thank you for straight forward video
This video saved me a lot of money! Thank you for the clear instructions Brotha 🙏🏽

Hey just wondering if the aftermarket alternator is holding up?
This is sooo easy to keep up! Thank you.
Great vid.gotta do my wife's 06 330i.Cheers.P
Why did you say in the description that the mounting bolts for the alternator MUST BE REPLACED?
They are aluminum one time bolts I believe.
I have a 528i bmw 2011
Would it be the same precudure
Thanks for the awesome video will update u on how it goes.
🙌 Astute observation; very helpful as always.
If I was able to help in any way, then my job is complete! 💯

Thank you for catching this!
Great video bro very helpful saved me money,,👍
Question?! My battery is dead and when I jumped it the inside of the car lights came on. But, my headlights are very dim. Could it be the alternator?
start by replacing or testing the battery first
Great video🔥 I was wondering how you clear your dash lights?
when you unplug and replug the battery the car automatically will clear all dash lights and codes
Bro i change the battery and alternator same day but car start up fine warm up 20 min and drive for like 5 min car die and battery drain
Thank you bro for this appreciate you blessings

Mines seems like it needs an alternator to
It’s not too bad of a process to replace it
The dashboard screen is dope.
