I was lucky enough to be able to spend some time talking to Mr. Clarke here in Montreal in 2016. Nice guy. He was a tremendous leader on and off the ice.
Great video very inspiring . One correction though, Clarke didn't break Kharlomov's in Philly in 1976, he broke it in Moscow 1972 during the Super Series at the height of the Cold War. Which makes it even more ballsy of a move. Clarke one a pure warrior and my favorite hockey player of all time.
I miss hard hitting tough as nails hockey so much I can't even really watch the sport i loved anymore. Didn't like the way the Flyers played the Reds They weren't trying to beat them down they were trying to hurt them like Fred van Impe. They knew the Russians did have enforcers. It embarrassed the game
Ballsy? An assault to take out the best player is gutless and classless. But, despite that other heinous acts, he was an indefatigable and smart player.
"Leadership". Thats something sorely missing from the game today. Guys like Clarke, Hull, Ted Lindsay & Mr Hockey himself, Gordie Howe would throw a devastating open ice check them score a goal before fighting to protect one of the enforfers meant to protect them Clarke would protect Schultz, Van Impe, Kelly & the Moose Dupont. They were blue collar guys whom the fams could relate to You had guys who were tough, offensively great & leaders in the next generatjon. Messier, Neely, Shanahan but it wasnt the same Now that no longer exists. No super star is a blue collsr playing but super star skilled hard hitting and fighting guy that also leads on and offf ice Closest is Ovechkin
Certainly name to be breathed in sane breath as Howe, Orr, Bossy, LaFleur , Lemieux , Gretzky, Crosby , Messier , Hull(s), Richard (s)Kane Et-al , Just add up the championships of all those players
The inaccuracies not withstanding not a bad vid. It may be the AI, poorly sourced research, or non-Canadian. Most Canadian boomers will see the errors as they come up. But then again, why let the truth get in the way of a good story.

You beat me to it. I was about to comment on the error.

Thanks for catching that! It was a real gutsy move for sure.

The slash was in a different series. 72 summit series.😬

I never saw Clarke fight anyone. I saw him start a lot of fights and let other people finish them for him. Coward. He was cheap
I hated him. He was a winner though. Would have loved him if he played for my team.
