READ THIS: Caitlin Clark is astonishing….is probably as good as ANY shooter from long range, men’s or women’s, but let’s not detract from what PETE MARAVICH did in college, when there was no precedent before him. Maravich scored his 3667 pts in only THREE seasons, averaging 44pts/game. He did this before a three point line, and before a shot clock. His bombardment took place from anywhere on the half court, lots of difficult shots coming in traffic. His FG pct was only 44 percent because many shots were long range or circus-type shots. He did all this with only two coronary arteries, rather three. His pro game was hampered by injuries, lack of chemistry with/teammates, but actually seeing him score 64 once in ‘68 was high on my list of moments.

Caitlin Clark has got me interested in the women’s game and I think she has for a lot of other people too. She’s an amazing performer. I love watching her shoot those deep three pointers. Handles herself with class too. Much respect to Caitlin Clark.
@@darrylthompson672 You're right. Caitlin and Pistol Pete hold the scoring records for NCAA Division I college basketball, while Pearl Moore holds the AIAW record. I guess it's like having an ABA record vs. an NBA record. The NBA doesn't acknowledge or incorporate ABA stats into its records, so some great names aren't getting their due. The crazy thing about Pearl Moore is that she got 4,061 points before the implementation of the 3 point line.
It's not the same thing just because Caitlin and Pete played the same sport, Flo Jo ran the fastest 100m for a woman ever but no one says Bolt broke her record...because he's a man. Catlin can't break the men's record if she's never played against men.

Nope. She’s not the best scorer ever. Maravich’s record is apples and oranges. She’s got the women’s record. Period. Don’t try to push that bs on Pistol Pete’s greatness.
Ms Caitlin Clark no one knows the heart and soul and sweat it takes to do what you have done counting from being a kid to high school to AAU to College as a Athlete to give up a lot of holidays and Birthdays from missing a lot of relatives programs and what your parents had to give up as well but you still have a lot to go enjoy what you love to do a lot of Athletes would have love to have that seat I feel you on what it took to get where you are now enjoy and be blessed
In the Maravich area there was no three-point line. He would’ve averaged well over 50 so apples and oranges I guess but she is arguably the best pure, shooting, female in history and has ball skills, court presents IQ team oriented, and the attitude of a winner.
Congratulations Caitlin , I did not start watching women’s basketball until you started playing ! My coworker asked me during the game last night , what are you watching ? I said “ A star is being born” . I asked him if he has ever heard of Caitlin Clark. His response was no. Well you have just missed one of the most transformational athletes in women’s sport history.

Congrats to Caitlin for the record!!! Nothing burns me more than an anticipation foul call. That happened on the 4 pt play by Clark. Replay clearly shows the player wasnt even near touching Clark , Clark falls down gets the call.
I love her game, she's talented af But I think someone like a 2-way player like Cameron Brink Will be a better WNBA player than Clark But, I have loved watching her journey to break the record! Go get that Natty title, won't be easy tho
Congratulations to her. However there was no 3 point line when Pete played and Caitlin had 156 three pointers giving her an additional 156 points that Pete never had an opportunity for so it’s kind of an apples to oranges thing. Like all records rules changes often erase the accomplishments of another player. Still she broke the point total officially and now holds the record. Congratulations.
I hate to give everyone a reality check, but Pete never had the option to play the 3-point game which changed everything. Someone a while ago did an analysis of Pete's scoring and if he played during the 3-point era, he would have averaged something like 65 points a game.
I will go you one further. 3 point line or not this is a women's all time scoring record. Has everyone lost their mind? Why is she being compared to the men's all time scoring leader? They are different leagues. If men and women played on the same team it would make sense. Would she have this record playing against the men? If so then will she play in the NBA? Great for her for being the best in her league but this is agenda pushing at its finest.
People keep saying that they fell apart is why they lost to Nebraska, no she just quit shooting so she could break te record at home. If she would've kept going hard regardless of the record they would've won.
