Another spin off series idea would be Luke Martha and Mickey returning in a UNIT spin off as well as Kate. It’s been a long time since we have seen the other 3 in action in the doctor who universe and the characters are more than valid for a spin off series, especially a spin off from a spin off with Luke.
@@leonidasrising5998 would be cool to see some sort of UNIT spinoff although Mickey returning is very unlikely due to what happened with NC.

This is easily one of the best Blu-ray trailers they’ve done. Just hearing “thank you Sarah Jane” and the moment where she remembers Cliff made me tear up.
And now, Jo grant joins the club of companions who have all their episodes on Blu-ray (alongside Romana II, Adric, and Mel)

Not just two people who have died, two people who worked and acted on Doctor Who during the Jon Pertwee era. Although we associate Sarah Jane more with Tom Baker's Doctor she began the show with Pertwee's Doctor. Very sweet indeed, I was crying by the end of it. 😢

After Elizabeth sladen had passed away I kept saying that Jo would be perfect to carry on Sarah's legacy of protecting the earth from the attic with the gang, and seeing that jo has been given Sarah's sonic lipstick just makes me happy. Also I now want a baby sea devil plushie because that was adorable.
I love how these trailers have slowly turned into mini-episodes while still also acting as trailers! Looking forward to the set as always!
I'm wondering if the promo is actually feeling out the concept of another spinoff series in the vein of Sarah Jane Adventures. That spinoff was something RTD came up with, so it wouldn't surprise me if he has something like it in the cards for the near future...
@@techno1561 Right, there was something like that with Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood, but in the late 2000s/early 2010s it was a little bit ahead of its time. Nowadays, of course, you generally don't have fixed TV schedules to get in the way of all these spinoff ideas anymore. So the main limits are now the budgetary resources and creative talent (actors, writers, producers, etc.) available to create a streaming series...
@@techno1561 The BBC will not stop RTD from doing that. They saw what a hit the new series of Doctor Who was for them back in 2005. RTD is the best person to craft a good & profitable future for Doctor Who.
I think that they’re the most special ways to help us celebrate the glory days of the classic series. Most especially with revisiting such extraordinary Whoniversal creatures like the Sea Devils.
Pete does an excellent job with these announcement trailers, and this might be up there as one of my favourites, not only because of the adorable baby Sea Devil, but mainly due to the tributes to Stewart Bevan and Elisabeth Sladen. Much missed people of the Doctor Who community.
Pete was robbed. He should be showrunner.

@@DarthAzabrush I'd say Pete should have been the writer for the Sea Devil story as it probably would have been tighter than Legend of the Sea Devils. There are elements I like in Legend of the Sea Devils, don't get me wrong, but I'd really would have liked to see what Pete would have done.
@@ireallydidntwanttomakeanac575 I think if the original Regeneration episode cut was released Legend would make a whole lot more sense. That said Power of the Doctor at least gave us an Anniverssary special worthy of the name before the RTD comes in and ruins everything again.
@@DarthAzabrush I easily find Power of the Doctor to be a better celebration of Doctor Who than the actual 50th anniversary. It is loaded with fan service, sure, but it was more fun than watching the whole Time War concept basically become just Gallifreyans and Daleks just shooting at each other.
Makes me so proud to be a Whovian. If it wasn't for Doctor Who, I would have never discovered medical pathology and go to uni to study a bachelor of medical science. Thank you Doctor Who for everything.

I've been watching the pertwee era for a while now and I'm on Jo Grant's final season (currently on frontier in space). I'm gonna miss her, can't wait for sarah jane. Jon Pertwee is one of the actors that I picture IMMEDIATELY when talking about about the doctor..
Have tissues ready for the end of The Green Death. It's one of the most touching and emotional goodbyes for a companion ever.

Coming up to the 50th anniversary of The Green Death, so what a lovely little tribute to Stewart Bevan.
That was beautiful, acknowledging Doctor Who actors we've lost and keeping a current feel to the story - and even though it's a promotional message for a blu-ray collection, the care, attention to detail and love of the stories is so clear to see. They really do need to do more adventures featuring Jo and more of the classic companions, while we still have them with us.
What a beautiful scene, genuinely filled up when Sarah Jane was mentioned, then totally lost it when Cliff was mentioned, wonderful tributes to Lis & Stewart, can't wait for this box set
So Jo Grant is following in the footsteps of Sarah Jane, Sarah's Sonic lipstick is Jo's now, and what looks like her own little group forming, I love that very much

I love Jon Pertwee so much , but I'm so thankful they were able to release the 2nd season of the 1st doctor. I hope they're able to release more seasons of the 1st and 2nd doctor. They are both important parts of doctor who. My wish is that people start remembering that.

The great thing about these trailer is they can get me excited no matter the season. I’m not the biggest fan of Season 9 (I like Curse of Peladon and the Sea Devils though) yet I am hyped as hell for this

That's the talented Rob Ritchie at it again.
This is such a creative and great way to announce these boxsets, getting to revisit a companion in live-action is such a treat. It's a bit sad there are no new updated effects episodes this time round, but still this is really cool.
I think they put that part of the budget into making TWO episodes feature length (instead of just one like in the previous sets).
@@gordontaylor2815 Yeah... but what exactly does that mean? Removing the cliffhangers, adding new sound effects, getting surround sound? That's neat and all, but I like the updated effects too.
I like seeing what they do with updated effects. In some cases, (like Day of the Daleks) they really add a lot to an episode. I think "The Mutants" would have been a good choice this time round.

I love this so much. It's such a lovely touch that Sarah Jane gave Jo a Sonic Lipstick, and it makes me hopeful for a Jo Jones spin-off during RTD's upcoming Whoniverse. If we're getting a shared Doctor Who universe as seems likely, what better than Jo fighting the good fight and protecting the Earth from the climate crisis?
I love it how they always announce new Collection seasons, it's like a very tiny minisode every time.

Another great trailer, I loved the baby sea devil hatching, a lot of the episodes in this season apart from Day of the Daleks will have significantly better picture quality than the DVD releases as they originated from US videotape (525-line) recordings and were converted to PAL (625-line) via Reverse Standards Conversion (RSC) which left a lot of artefacts on the picture (pulsating horizontal line effects, made worse by outdated DVD compression!), anyway these will look much better now that they've been newly re-scanned and combined with the black/white film recordings, I look forward to watching these stories again, I pre-ordered this latest boxset as usual LOL!

Oh my goodness, this is everything! Jo Jones is one of my favourite companions. As an activist, I love that she mentioned working with nature, not against it and is still continuing to defend the Earth. She NEEDS her own series. I can see it now. She recruits those two teenagers and they go on adventures! Katy Manning also has some serious style. Love her so much :)

Yes please! It only makes sense. We’ll have the Five Doctors on Blu Ray with Season 20, and I’ll be shocked if we don’t get Season 1 by November😀
@VanillaGaming nope. Just Season 20 is gonna be next. Plans for Season 1 were paused post-2022 due to technical issues. Season 20 has the most consistently intact film inserts, including The Five Doctors (which makes it easier for remastering). There was also an attempted re-remaster of Inferno episode 7 around the time the world turned into bricks.
