7:45 may be a mistake, as I believe you have described it.
The die is is an action die added to the pool at the beginning of the next round, until that character is removed from play. It is not to the combat strength of an army. Gandalf the Grey does have an ability (Captain of the West) that does allow a combat die to be added, however.

You're right. The symbol means the character adds an addition action die to the pool. It has nothing to do with combat. It only appears on Gandalf the White and Aragorn.

Hello again, one more point I'd love someone to clear up: if I have an army with a character/minion/leader, can I use either the character action die OR the army action die to move/attack, or just the character action die? Thanks for another fantastic tutorial!

Army action die - Cannot move characters by themselves, but can move an army with a character,

Do seige battles require extra dice movements?

I have two questions: the first resolves around battles. When you include characters into the battlefield (minions or members of the fellowship), their contribution is only that they add leadership bonus? I thought they allowed the player to score a success by adding +1 to your battle dices. For example, if Aragorn is on the battlefield, does he allow the free people's player to score a hit with an additional number, i.e. 4,5,6?
Second question. Do you have to spend an action die to continue the battle? The instructions say that you may bring reinforcements, but how will you do that if the attacking player does not cease the attack?

Each specific companion will have specific abilities which may or may not add to their army’s combat strength. I believe Aragorn I proved his army by one dice.

The 5 five that came with this fantastic game are absolute GARBAGE. I bought two sets of 36 dice from Barnes & Noble. Red and black dice with gold colored pips for the shadow to represent the fires of Mordor, the growing shadow over Middle Earth and the Ring. White and blue dice with red pips to represent the 3 Elven rings, Vilya, Nenya, Narya.
