I think this is beautiful. I love hearing you chat to yourself, and seeing you work with colours that are not your usual choice on a larger than usual scale, and sharing thoughts and comments as you work. It is great memento of your holiday.. I spent the afternoon Gelli printing, some colours unusual for me but lots of textures and variations of two main colours. partly because that was a challenge to myself, but also influenced by the beautiful collage you create. Thank you for your great videos and inspiration.
For what it is worth, I am much less skilled at collage than you are and I have been using mat gel since beginning and love it and the way it dries. I would suggest that you might have an easier time if you applied the matte gel with a soft brush. The brush strokes don’t show when it is dry and it is much easier to spread smoothly. For that size I find an inexpensive brush about and inch or a little more works great. I always love what you come up with and have learned so much from you.
So lovely to have this memory of your trip to Umbria. It is so interesting to look at. I think a soft brush is a better tool for working with matte medium.
I just ordered some new brushes and the first description on the back of the package was in Danish and says "pensel" so I know how difficult that must be for you. However, your English is excellent and I love that you are explaining your process. It helps me understand why things work and others don't work. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful art!
Hi Lisbeth - beautiful inspiring work as always! However when I was watching you apply the gel medium, I think I could see the problem. I use it all the time and much prefer it to glue stick. I think the problem is the tool you are using to apply the glue. It looks too stiff and harsh. I just use a large soft paintbrush and paint on a layer. The quantity you are using looks about right. Then smooth down the paper with mor gel medium over the top. Stroke the paper flat. This works for very thin papers even, such as tissues (although I do get some wrinkles - but that's part if the texture to me). It should be a perfect glue for the work you are doing here.
Thanks for taking time to enlighten me. I will try a brush next time. But I am so impatient and the drying time is to longe for me when filming. But I can se it used in work for sale.because it is sealed and have a nice surface.
@@lisbethdegn-dragenkunst You are quite right - drying time is long. I just leave my project and walk away for a while, which I can see won't work when filming a TH-cam video. I haven't tried a hairdryer or other drying tool on my projects, because I have time to wait. But I see other TH-camrs using them so it might be worth a try.
I’m wondering if using a bristle brush to spread your acrylic medium would give you better results. The bristles would hold more medium, which might be helpful.
Very beautiful!! I can envision it in an antique gold wooden frame. Maybe a deep pink velvet matte.

Thank you for sharing your process and beautiful collage! Your printed pics are amazing. Were they taken with a digital camera?
Thanks. No just with my IPhone but I used a better quality if paper to print them out on.
