Man I really really like your channel. By far my favorite and I’ve watched a lot of catfish channels. Your authenticity makes me feel like I’m fishing with ya. You should do a couple tutorials for hook sizes for certain size fish, bank fishing tips, etc.

That was fun. Brought back a memory of a crowded lake in the city and a kid that took off running when he got a bite and that poor fishbeing dragged ten yards up the bank. Craziest hook set ever! The kid was completely out of sight over a hill when his friends told him he could stop running the fish was caught. No idea who those people were but I still remember it from around 50 years ago. Little man made lake called Mile Square Park Lake. Middle of Garden Grove I think.
Watched this some time ago and liked it then.... second time just as good. liked the cooking part..... I know you'll probably be bringing out the Wing Sauce next time....

I'm definitely a fan of the okuma spinning reels. I should have got the 3000 size though. The breading is legit.

Way to go Spencer. I've caught 2 at once one time. Same "technique" as you. Landed bigger one while holding other rod between my legs. Thanks for reminding me of the good ole days lol. So you use a bait clicker on your other reels. What do you do with a spinning reel? I'm torn between a loose drag and open bail. We have lots of flatheads here and I try to let them take it a few minutes before putting the heat on them. I only use spinning reels. Curious as to what you do. Thanks brother.
I have a Shimano spinning reel with a “fighting drag” on it. It basically lets me set the drag super loose and adjusting it down with the push of a lever. My other spinning reel has the drag on the end of the reel and not by the spool so I loose drag it too.
@@ElkinsEric yea i had a rear drag shimano before. Not anymore. I just wondered how other people do it. Especially with circle hooks vs j hooks.
If I was using a spinning rod for flatheads, I'd probably just leave it locked down and put a circle hook on it. If they had louder clickers, I'd use them more. Maybe haha

Imma have to try a cast net for bait. We are aloud to have a 6’ net with 3/8” mesh. Should be able to get some chubs and suckers with that.

The Des Moines River is looking a little low up your way.. I live in southeast Iowa so I'm very familiar with the last few miles of it before it reaches the Mississippi.

Another good way to tell the largemouth and smallmouth apart is the largemouth have that thick black line down the side of them. When they are old and fat the line fades a little bit but you can still see it.

i cut all my fish into chunks. it gives you a more equal ratio of seasoning to fish. i dont mind tasting fish or i wouldnt be eating it lol, but i like seasoning too. great video man. love the catastrophic line jumble that worked out in the end. we have all had those times.

That was as good as it gets. You catch your own bait, catch your own fish, do your own cooking, and consume the end product. That process has kept mankind going for thousands of years, but it is a dying skill. Today, if fast food places suddenly stopped making food, there would be a lot of people starving to death. They can`t cook, they can`t fish, they can`t catch their own bait, but they know Spencer can, and they will come calling if the SHTF. Thanks for another great video.

You need to pick up a nice cast iron skillet, preferably an old one. You will appreciate frying in it.

I definitely have some hard lines (no walleyes, muskies, smallmouth), but largemouth and crappies are definitely fair game if I can't get anything else haha

I cleaned a Saugeye and 5 hand size bluegill last week and I tell you what the bluegill was delicious I cut the head off and gutted it and fried them hole the Saugeye was also tasty
2 questions, do you always tie new rigs on.. have you ever lost any poles while fishing from the bank or kayak. You've got a great channel keep up the great work.
I tie on new rigs every 2-3 trips minimum. I like fresh knots. I've lost one pole when I was 12. It still haunts me haha. Glad you're enjoying it man!
