Have you thought of Zip tying the coiled electrical cable to one of the hydraulic lines on the ruckus rake at 4 or 5 points so the electrical connector is always close to the hydraulic connector. That way if you forget to connect it or the connection come undone, it wont fall in the wonderful cord eater. :)
Another rainy day in the workshop... it's just not the same without man behind the scenes lol.. but totally enjoyed the works with Mr "Almost" Millennial :) You 2 work awesome together. many thanks guys and see you on the next one
I think you made a mistake when you installed the bottom roller / rear idler roller bearing. While you were able to figure out that the alignment pins needed to go to the rear the issue is the grove that you install going up should have been installed going down. If you go back to 23:00 in your video, you can see the old bottom roller / rear idler roller bearing coming out has the groves going down.
Knowing the track record for the shipping companies I have had the "pleasure " of using, all that wrap saved the idler roller from from irreparable damage.
Hey guys this is nostalgic to watch.. changed a few tracks, wrenched on a bunch of big stuff..! And it reminds me of laying on a creeper under a gravel train in a tyvek suit when it's 90° outside!! Greasing and tensioning slack adjusters!! One of the most miserable jobs I've ever done in my life!! Next to changing steer tires/balloon tires, with a hammer and pry bars!! the boss would only buy dish soap!!! We did go through quite a bit of P.B. blaster that summer though!! 🤔🤔😜😜👍👍!!!
The AMI 'rock rake' machine really appears a well built unit. Well thought out & surely tested. Best thing is it's served you well. I'll say 'maybe' an empty paper towel tube may work where the grease comes out to lessen the mess - think so? Getting that track back on gives new meaning to, "I Love it when a Plan Comes Together"! Nice job 'gentlemen'! With thanks. Sonny
Well, a brick "outhouse" may be tough, but it's awful hard to move it when the pit gets full. Just saying. Owning three Kubotas right now, I have to agree about not thinking forward about maintenance, (a flexible neck funnel is the only way to add hydraulic fluid without taking the seat off on two of them) but the easiest one to work on was built in 1981, so probably the only designer that thought about maintenance has retired.
Next time u have to raise the skid steer get a good size wood block put it under the back and use the boom to raise the front and it will pick up the back
Not as slow as grass growing but just as exciting as watching them unload food trucks at the grocery store. 😂 Good video guys, stay safe and Happy Holidays to you all.
for those rubber pads on rake, it would be nice to have a right angle impact wrench? ... see them used a lot in the automotive world ... a lil pricey but cheaper than that cord replacement ... chuckles
The new owner will have to had not watched any DP videos with the Kubota in them. All good things to point out to look for when purchasing equipment. Good video!
If those don't last ether. Maybe use an old roll of conveyor layered. Would probably last much much longer.👈😉👍What cost $488 was the large connector. I would really keep the old one just in case the new one ever gets smashed.
Take the cord and wrap the coil part around your hydraulic hose about four or five wraps that way the cord is always right there at the plug and not hanging where it can be damaged.
That will also make it really difficult (not impossible) to forget to undo the electrical when you remove the attachment which is what I originally thought DP did to violently tear the cable apart.
Get a piece of round stock put it in the sprocket, run it around it will suck in track. We used to do that to tighten up the track on old draglines to move them.
When isn't it expensive lol, gotta love breakdowns and oopsies! Love watching the videos though, actually seeing how things are put together, the work/time it takes, how things work, and sometimes what it costs. I think what I like the most is you all have the ability to find the humor in it all. I'm sure there are times you have to step back and take a breath first but you are able to and thats what matters.
Eric you are so right in what you say and the expense must be over whelming at times but credit where it's due i have never seen him skimp on repairs or maintenance jobs Cheers
@WALL BAWDEN You are absolutely right. They go all out and make sure it's something that will last and its back to the drawing board if it doesn't. What i love is everything they come up with is unique and it fits their needs. Its not the same ol replacing oem stuff to just get by until it goes out again.
Things happens even though it cost you money we all ain't perfect even though we try to be but it's all good I remember when you got that roller and use thinking about getting it in you got it that's good on the front of that machine for sure well least now you got the parts replaced it should run very well for next summer meant to say rake but you know what I meant when they pack that roller at least they packed it least you didn't get damaged that's good on your part well at least you got it fixed now it looks good wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas I hear a lot of people's been getting sick out there because of the weather will you take care and God bless🙏👍
Those power cords are ridiculously expensive. one of the guys broke the one for the skid steer plow a few years ago but he broke the connector to the machine too and it was like $700 total. That def. hurts.
I run the same kind of rake but it is make by Harley I have had it for 20 years and I can’t imagine not having it for cleaning up jobs. It is almost time to replace it. I have replaced all the teeth on the drum about 3 times and I have had to weld a patch on the bottom of the chain case twice now because it has worn through and the oil started leaking out. It has several thousand hours on it so I have no complaints.
Dp, you should WRAP that Electrical wire around one of the hydraulic hoses as it might just help you with that $488.00 mitsake? Why didn't you klean out the tracks when you had the track off?
think jcb 3TS. the door on the side alone is almost worth the price of admission, though that is a high price, man! the tele-boom part, well it could be useful when LT is up a rolling. jcb could make it a bit bigger with a 350 hp engine, what's 2 extra feet, so us tall folks can stretch out our legs and feet. everybody can use more ponies. put a mulch head on that bad boy, we are talking no need to burn and in a year you've got some pretty good soil, even if you are just mulching the cleared stuff.
It’s irrelevant now but when hammering on something that rings like a bell, stick a magnet on it and it will reduce or eliminate the ringing. Just something I picked up from bladesmithing/blacksmithing years ago.
I have a feeling the designer for that years Kubota thought everyone would be refilling the oil from a 55 gallon drum using a pump and hose. Merry Christmas to you and yours DP!
As for your funnel conundrum, I've used various fittings to get fluids into hard to reach areas. Couple 90s and a pipe nipple to offset the funnel helps sometimes.
Heeeeyyy DP & Mr. Millennial, the wrapping at 24:00 isn’t to protect the pulley, it to protect other items in shipping from the pulley. T or T aTodd, this is your only break, Ha Ha Ha!
The last Kubota repair video I said there was a hole in the exhaust elbow but you said "No No!" This elbow is all good, ha ha ha it at least held a year without set fire what ......
Welker farms just put a block in between the sprocket and track then pulled ahead to suck in the idler and it pushed it all the way to give you more slack to get track off easier
you can take a two before and lay between the drive gear and the track and rotate it around it and it'll suck that idler pulley back squared all your grease out works great
Nice unit! The man who makes no mistakes doesn't do anything!! I am thinking of buying one of those tracked skid steers! Kubota is the one i want! Thanks for the experience!
If you're looking for a grapple i would recommend Favor manufacturing up here in Northwest Ohio! I've had mine for years and can honestly say you can't hurt them!
For the air controls on your overhead crane it might just be a stuck valve inside the valve body. We use a lot of lift assists at work and the up/down switches get stuck. One of the very knowledgeable maintenance guys would remove the airline and add some pneumatic oil and with the airline back on cycle the valves. It might help free up the stuck valve and stop flowing air causing the hoist to raise up.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos. Still the perfect mix of interesting and entertaining. Was great seeing the kids supervising. Don’t know if you follow wranglerstar, he just paid a similar amount for the cable to hook up his snowblower to his skid steer. Apologized to his viewers for taking the easy way out and not just finding the proper plug for the end of his cable. Have to wonder if you could of sold him your broken cable to salvage. Wishing you and your family the best and a Merry Christmas.
What I was told at the Kubota dealer about the oil fill cap. It was designed to be serviced at a shop that has the oil fill hose with the ? looking nozzle on it. Not with a jug of oil and a funnel.
@11:55 I think I might invest in a bottle of thread locker for that Ruckus Rake. @15:30 That should be a $50 or $60 cord at the most. @26:00 You'll be happy to know I rewound the video and yes the alignment dowels do go to the rear. @40:10 The first suggestion on that rake would be to have a plate with a twist lock connector on the rake head and not rely on those plastic connectors for on the solenoids. The second suggestion would be to replace the $488 cord with a 7 wire trailer connector
What i love so much about your channel, as well as #letsdig18 , #southernhomesteadtransformation, #captainkleeman, and #andrewcamarata is that you almost never hear cussing, whichis rare among heavy equipment operators. Mike, you mentioned that there happened to be a notch in each end rubber piece. It looked like you installed one with a notch in the middle of the lineup. Just wondering! J.R.
That wheel was wrapped so thick to protect anyone who dropped it on their feet. It still won't keep it from injuring someone but the sharp edges are rounded enough to blunt the damage.
I thought you said last spring that you had sold the Kubota for the "creative differences" you have had with it. I like TAkeuchi but I don't work with them for a living so ... thanks for the videos
Mike in stead of them inch pins that are on top of the rake get your self some nap pins like are on the 3 point hitch pins. The ones that snap on you damn fingers lol
You got the idler “bakerds”. Yes the pin is to the back but the “dirt cups” go down.
@23:00 you can see the old one.
Is weird seeing Lt. Dan in the shop, when we already saw you park it down at the gas station lot ;-) There's a glitch in the Matrix!
That's the time dilation you get from living so close to the gravitational pull of Logger Wade.
Lol
16:48 end bolt for the right guard missing 43:00 still missing that cover bolt on the right side ! good video !
I know it must be hard to work for DP, Matt you did a great Job.
Glad to see the kids have safety crocs too

Another good vlog. Hope Mr & Mrs DP, NYA, MBTS and families all have a good Christmas and new year. Thanks for posting. 🇬🇧👍👍
You might want to think about painting the Kubota the same green as Lt Dan? I think it would be awesome. Great job on the videos. Thanks
I'm glad you guys don't get mad at each other much. Also glad you got good help. I think it's a rule. 2 things break at once.
You should add a dummy plug on the rake for the pigtail when it's not plugged in.
Thank you Mike and Matt for another very entertaining video.
23:00 The notch on the idler roller is clearly pointing downward. 26:14 The notch goes down.

@@DirtPerfect b
perfect packaging product arrived safe and the carrier was hopefully safe delivering it
Time for a bobcat T870 I just think their smooth to run and have very good service and has the power you need
turn the wheel over and groove for water displacment would be in down ward angle
The boss never breaks anything they just know when it's time to get a new part lol. Awesome is all I can say 👍👍👍👍👍👍

If your antiseze starts to dry up just add a little motor oil to it and it will thin back out
Love the Ruckus Rake. Does a mighty fine job. Even better, now that it's repaired from usage.
Things happens even though it cost you money we all ain't perfect even though we try to be but it's all good I remember when you got that roller and use thinking about getting it in you got it that's good on the front of that machine for sure well least now you got the parts replaced it should run very well for next summer meant to say rake but you know what I meant when they pack that roller at least they packed it least you didn't get damaged that's good on your part well at least you got it fixed now it looks good wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas I hear a lot of people's been getting sick out there because of the weather will you take care and God bless🙏👍

pounding on a bearing part, nice!

For a special funnel for the oil fill on the Kubota try cutting the top off of an empty oil jug.
If you jack it up high enough and put two creepers under the track You can roll it out and right back in with ease keep up the good work
Might want to put a small chain ⛓️ to slide the clip through before you lose them and might want to put a zerk fitting to keep them lubed
I have a feeling the designer for that years Kubota thought everyone would be refilling the oil from a 55 gallon drum using a pump and hose. Merry Christmas to you and yours DP!
That's probably how they do it in the factory.

Mike , my OCD kicked in again . The ruckus rake is still missing a bolt on the hose cover on the right side .
On the ruckus rake next time the rubbers go bad use old mud-flaps 3-4 together saves a few bucks & might last longer !
Could be worse. At least you have a nice dry workshop to replace the idler in. I had to do my last one out in the mud!
True
The last Kubota repair video I said there was a hole in the exhaust elbow but you said "No No!" This elbow is all good, ha ha ha it at least held a year without set fire what ......
Welker farms just put a block in between the sprocket and track then pulled ahead to suck in the idler and it pushed it all the way to give you more slack to get track off easier
Hey loop a small chain around plug like the safety chain on a trailer if comes out it stay not far from plug
Dirt Perfect makes mistakes! Never! Just proves you are human. Another interesting Video.
Forgot the replacement side bolt on the angled shield on the right hand side of the rake.
No sir did not thanks
you can take a two before and lay between the drive gear and the track and rotate it around it and it'll suck that idler pulley back squared all your grease out works great
I wonder if you were to grind the crack in the grease gun and put JB weld on it, if it might hold? Or let MBTS put hot aluminum on it.. 😁
Nice unit! The man who makes no mistakes doesn't do anything!! I am thinking of buying one of those tracked skid steers! Kubota is the one i want! Thanks for the experience!

Thanks for sharing the great video Mike!
Thanks
Hi Mike why don't you get a piece of hose and connect it to a funnel. Just a thought
Yes but not the point
Ready for more work!
Do you a piece of Hose pipe and a funnel and put the piece of Hose pipe on the end of a funnel and then it will reach just a suggestion
Not the point
Things happen but dang that was expensive. Great video. Stay safe
To compress the tension cylinder could you put a block of wood between the track and the idler and run the track around
Cool video, where is the man behind the scenes Aaron been at? He is usually the most effective fixing guy. Sure miss him and his infectious humor.
Thanks working

lookin' good, keep safe...
Deke is a good boy. Reminds me of my old Maggie.
Can I come back to you in about 20 minutes, I’m just watching you help the Captain do the Yacht floor?
I have a metal funnel with a flexible metal hose about 12" long. Sure something like that would work much better for filling the Kubota
I wonder how well one of those pneumatic oil dispensers for 55gal drums would fit down in there
23:00 you can see how it came out, 27:00
Looked through some comments isn’t there a bolt missing on the other side of the rake also!! Where you thought the other side was broken off??
missing another bolt on the right side hose guard
Another awesome shop video. Don't worry Michael, if it wasn't you who tore the cable, someone else would have 🙂
Great video Michael
Thanks buddy
from the Netherlands thanks for the video DP

Use J B weld to fix your grease gun.
I was told last week that the discount code to truck or track was discontinued.
Ah, the orange peril..... for the oil filler, use a funnel with a piece of hose joined to it, that will get you into difficult to pour spots 👍

Are those stickers on the garage door for a captive audience?
Lol and you didn't blame it on the capt. Funny vid mike thankd
Always enjoy your videos, Am I the only one that wonders why you didn't clean all the dirt off the under carriage before you put the track back on?

That in a upcoming video find that a complete wast of time

Another good shop video looking good
I thought you said last spring that you had sold the Kubota for the "creative differences" you have had with it. I like TAkeuchi but I don't work with them for a living so ...
thanks for the videos
Deal fell thru
Great Job 👍 Guys.
Thank you! 👍
Mike in stead of them inch pins that are on top of the rake get your self some nap pins like are on the 3 point hitch pins. The ones that snap on you damn fingers lol
