Anthony Charles if you go to your settings under controls > soldier button layout > custom you're able to map whichever act to do in the game to whatever button you want. So rather than pushing down the left stick to steady your scope you can remap it to steady scope as you zoom in. Just find the "steady scope" in the custom mapping menu select it and it will prompt you to press the button you want steady scope to be remapped to. So pull your left trigger and all your default buttons will remain default but now when you zoom in with your sniper rifles your automatically instantly holding your soldiers breath to make your aim not sway around. Just be careful you don't stay scoped in too long or your aim will sway all over the place. It's also good practice to keep you from remaining scoped in for too long so your not giving away location via lens glint and keeps you aware of your surroundings. Hope it helps and are able to find the correct menu and can try it out. It helps wonders
Great video SMK, been using drag shot for nearly as long as I’ve been playing battlefield. It’s a great technique, I have one thing to add however for guys new to this technique. Learning to centre you aim before adsing can improve on the technique described here massively. Practice centring get your cross hairs on the target before scoping in, it is difficult at first but once learnt can make aggressive sniper play extremely enjoyable 🤙

I didn't realise you could do this type of shot on this game. I used to use this technique sniping in halo 2 all the time. I got very good at it. I'm going to try those settings. Cool video.
Many a day have I wondered how the hell the tubers I watch get these incredible shots when I cant seem to hit a barn door with a rocket launcher! Not saying they are all drag shotting but its obviously a technique that good players employ. Gonna try it for sure. Great video, very concise.
That steady scope technique is going to be a game changer. The shaky scope nonsense has been one of my biggest complaints since they introduced it into Battlefield games.
I made a video about this just after BF1 was released. The aim assist mechanics on console can be easily exploited. Focus on the crosshairs over the player not the player, then aim down sight the aim assist will pull the crosshairs to the player and then fire. The mechanic in BF1 works best with iron sights or pop up sights, not scoped weapons. I don’t play console any longer, but the drag shot mechanic on PC does work without being able to see your target. Takes a ton of practice. Good video.
Hey max, BFV doesnt have the auto rotation aim assist anymore on console, only slowdown. It was auto rotation that gave you that "snap" when you would ads close to a target. It's why infantry variants with iron sights were popular in BF1. Thanks for watching the video :-)
I did want to talk about this also, and did record the audio for it but it made the video far too long. But I feel like you do, I do it sometimes and know that wasnt a headshot. Pay no attention to the hitmarkers they are always on the crosshair. But slowed way down the bullets dont seem to go where you always press to shoot
Don't know if I would call it a glitch. The game anticipates your movement into the hitbox, you get the kill if you pull the trigger within the hitbox, sometimes it looks like it's outside of the hitbox, but not by much. Drag shotting is present in every FPS I've played. Kind of hard to justify a glitch between multiple games, multiple dev studios, multiple publishers.

It's like a little cheat isn't it Josh, it mostly helps in situations where you want to line up your shot. Sometimes when you press down on the stick it can throw off your aim, not anymore ;-)
i am working wit this, mostly using the panzerbush, boys . kar98 and ghewer 95/98 , using the 6 times scope, still not up to a level i want , ;) and not laying down ;)
Cool video. I will give it a try.... i am very slow to aim when snipping.... hopefully this will help on moving targets. Also i always thought the hit box for headshots was larger ... thanks for confirming it.
Hey Graeme. I suspect it can appear bigger for some compared to others. Notice that in my video it was the female elite who is smaller than the males in terms of size. However, her hit boxes are probably the same size as the others but appear bigger because she is smaller. The other players depending on their size may not have the hit boxes outside the character model as much

Excellent video. I've been sniping a long time. I usually have aim assist turned down to avoid that issue of another player interfering with the shot. As I've been playing a lot of medic and assault lately, I turned aim assist up again. I did notice I was hitting the drag shot more often, so that makes sense. Hey man thanks for tweeting this at me, sorry for the delay in watching, really well put together! i have been sniping on console (and some PC) for as long as i remember and i pretty much already do this, however on the drag scope i tent to think of this as a correction to bad centering on the target in the first place, thats why i love BF sniping, hard scope/ drag scope/ quick scope even no scope all have there roles int he recon class, especially myself as the more aggressive type like yourself, you really should do a series breaking down other peoples recon games, i alwas wanted to but never got a follwoing :P
My only worry with that might be monetisation issues, how much of their footage can I used before I get a copyright strike? No one knows the limits of fair use really

I actually find the aim assist and slowdown more effective the higher the sensitivity / lower deadzone but the overall control is janky it's really not necessary to have on and has pulled me off easy kills... Which is substantially more frustrating
Have you seen my Lazer aim video? It has settings related to recoil control and how to reduce recoil a lot. You can change your colours in the gameplay settings ;-)
It's interesting. I have done everything mentioned here except I have done it implicitly. Probably means I have developed some bad habits and will have to be more deliberate when deploying this technique. Anyway extremely helpful thank you so much!
Most people fire too early in the beginning during the shot. I recommend you record your gameplay and watch it back to see where you are potentially going wrong
Excellent video on Dragshots man. On The Settings Menu Set The L2/R2 Threshold To 5% this setting is 100% on standard which will give you a Hair Trigger on Aiming & Trigger pull making the timing of the shots faster also set the Center deadzone to 15 - 10 range to make the joysticks respond a bit faster. I hope this helps out. I have a few Dragshot montages.

I don't know if you seen my lazer aim video but I discussed those deadzones in it. I did experiment with lowering them but it didnt feel right to me with the high sensitivity i use

Nice, comprehensive video. Truly different from others who just say they use their settings just because it "feels right." I for the most part play with bolt action rifles with the Kar98. I'm decent enough at sniping but I tend to miss certain drag and other shots at any range that I KNOW I should have hit. I really feel that an overhaul of my setting can help mitigate some issues that I have and will be applying some of the techniques in your video over the weekend. I do have a question in regards to your other setting components. When sniping, do you also keep those settings the same? That is, do you have your soldier aim and zoom sensitivity at 100% and 200% with uniform soldier aim off and customized zoomed sensitivity as mentioned in your previous video? My sniping sensitivity is currently at 100%/100%, with aim acceleration at anywhere between 0-30% (will most likely be changing this to either 0 or 100; no more middle ground), uniform soldier aim ON, no customized zoom settings, default axial dead zones, and aim assist slowdown at 80-100%. Thanks for your time and videos.
Hey R Gray, I'm assuming you seen my lazer aim video to know I use 100/200% with USA OFF? I would put acceleration to 0%. I have my sniping sens for x6 scopes set at 80% now and I'm liking it. But you shouldn't adjust individual scopes sensitivities if you play with USA ON, they should all be at 100%. If you plan on turning it off then you could adjust them. I would go with 100/200 and then start adjusting each scope sens. What I am suggesting is usually said to hinder muscle memory due to each scope sens being different and to a degree that is true. But if you are like me and you find say 100 STICK and 125 ZOOM with USA ON, (this is what I had in BF1) good at low zoom levels but too fast for x6 scopes then my way would suit you better. It drove me nuts, that is why I never EVER sniped in BF1 or used high magnification scopes. Its only when I decided to really look into my settings that I found this way of doing it

The aim of my videos are to give people the knowledge to be able to adjust things to how it suits them, not simply copying me or my settings/style. Just showing people this is how you drag shot, by swiping like this wont teach people. You need to understand in game mechanics to perform this shot. Glad you enjoyed it
Only hated sniping,though 80% of the players that just...Camp. This shows enough,that you can move and support your team. Will need practice, maybe op underground not a place to start? Already now with that, we have the players just sat in corners waiting for kills. Just makes you want to snap your controller in half. Great video and streams.
Hey Ben, I went 80-30 as a sniper on conquest on that map the first day it came out. It is a good place to start learning this for sure. But as it is all pretty much close quarter combat it could be frustrating until you get the hang of it. Thanks for watching :-)
I do just fine on console without automatic aim slowdown as a snipper. I've manually adjusted my scope speeds for every scope and that works just fine for me and I've got my assist to zero because I despise that cheese.
I have adjusted my individual scopes also. But as someone that plays high sensitivity with the x1 and x3 scopes I like a bit of slowdown. I set mine to 55
main is 45% 1x 90% 1.25x 80% 1.5x 77% 2x 80% 3.0x 70% 6.0x 80% then I like that 8 times at 150 for extreme swiping of the horizon with the spotting scope. I'm not claiming to be the best, especially after abandoning the game for months now, but once I got the hang of it, I never really had much issue with not being top 5 at a minimum.
Mine are quite different to that. I hope you have USA off since you have changed your individual scope sensitivities. I play at 100 stick and 200% ads with USA off. Off is key, then x1 is 100%, 1.25 is 95% x3 is 80% and x6 is 70%. I dont use x2 Its all in this video th-cam.com/video/hy14JLsFMkw/w-d-xo.html
If you haven't looked at it, it is most likely on 100% as that is the default. I haven't really used the Krag much, but most seem to like it for the drag shot

I have seen quite a few pc players complain about it recently. I was the same, it still doesn't counter the fact you have mnk and high frame rates, however, one person showed me a video of fortnite in their latest update. The level of aim assist in that game is nuts, the person shooting couldnt even see the player they were targeting. I know quite a few pc players were looking forward to MW to wreck console players and when it didn't turn out that way they blamed aim assist also. I do see this topic of discussion getting much bigger as crossplay becomes more and more a thing. What I did on my xbox. I just put the hold your breath bottom with the aiming button. So when you first aim at on a iron sight or scope you will be already holding your breath. Making you have a aadvantage and a headshot expert. Getting ready for the Pacific maps. You can do it with no aim assist on.
I swear my crosshair doesn't slow down when I move it across an enemy... Aim assist at 100, aiming sensitivity at 70 percent. Using a PS 4 controller on PS 5
Aim assist changed a bit since I made this video. You now have to be moving your players feet to feel the effects of slowdown. When the other player (enemy) is moving it also feels stronger too
Hey mark i dont use dragshots when sniping i aim just past the person running then shoot it works but it has taken time to perfect but since ive not played for a while ive got rusty.
Hey, go into game settings, controls > control schemes. Set soldier buttons to custom. Then press triangle and scroll all the way down to hold breath and set that to L2 also to hold breath as soon as you ads ;-)
Not really, you are still trying to aim for their head with the drag shot. You swipe across their head ;-). The swipe will be faster than what they can move. But if they are stationary I would then line up the shot
The ratio? Both of mine are 100% I think, default is 48 I believe. My soldier stick sensitivity is 100%, and zoom is 200%. I do explain the reasoning behind this in the video though. I play with Uniform Soldier Aiming (USA) off so set max sensitivity and then adjust each scope sensitivity to what I want. You only do this with USA off
@@SMKGAMING x-y ratio is up n down and side to side.. For instance move up n down horizontal then side to side vertical and see if there the same.. My horizontal is a slower than my vertical. Do u just keep it on default
@@dustylevi5774 yes that's the ratio one, if you want them the same then set the sensitivity to 100% on both like me. It will feel weird at first due to most playing on a 16:9 screen. If you want horizontal the same then default setting should be what you want.
@@SMKGAMING personally i feel like sloppy joe having them the same i was curious what you use but for me having it even ratio for for horizontal and vertical throws off my muscle memory to much considering i play alot of cod and the vertical is always slower

That's why aim assist should be on consoles only. Pc has way to many advantages over axis. Planes , tanks, etc. Axis the ISS simply no way to out maneuver a pc player
No you can KEEP all your settings as you have them. When you bind breathing to aim down sight sight (ADS) button you still ads,, don't change your ads button. It will warn you that button already has a function but that is ok

when you want to steady you scope when sniping you normally have to press down on the right stick. By binding it to the button you use to aim down sight (the left trigger) it does this for you automatically
You map it to l2, go to controller custom settings and set it to custom and press triangle. It will then bring up a controll binds. Scroll to breath and set it to L2
@@Nancyceleste if you want a bit of extra zoom then ads fov off. A lot turn it off for sniping only, and have it on for everything else. Personally I just keep it ads fov on all the time
i might possibly be the worst sniper in history...stevie wonder could get more kills than me using a sniper rifle...LOL...i do not know what it is but it takes a litteral age for me to get the gun on the target and even then headshots are nothing more than pot luck or if the target is stationary,i seem to always pull my shot when i go to press the trigger,the boys at and other one shot snipers are my go to snipers of choice as it seems for me anyways swapping between rifle and secondary takes way more time then on PC...or is it just me...!!!
It can quick switching weapons on console also if you have a controller with paddles. On console most have to press a button on top of their controller which takes more time compared to a pc player who uses a keyboard

SMK GAMING indeed it does. With even more practice u end up snapping to a target at 250m shoot and headshot. So much easier than bf1 but the sweet spot helped then. Kar and krag on aerodrome is headshot heaven

Whatever your system this feature is a cheat. What a shite Dice are plus that method of lowering recoil via FOV etc. Such a shite balance and its gonna get worse. They suck!
why do you think the drag shot is a cheat? I do kind of agree with you though that lowering recoil via the FOV is a bit odd. However, unlike another popular FPS at least there is recoil.
@@SMKGAMING i like the old sniping mechanic from bf4, in bf5 its a helping mechanic to take perfect shoots with no aiming skill. Sorry if my english are a bit rusty, im from Germany. In real life drag shoots are not useful. I think bf5 are a bit to casual and the hipfire are OP. I like the old style, but its gone since bf4. I use drag shoots too but its not the way how it be.

In bf1 infantry rifles had auto rotation so if your crosshair was near a player when you aimed down sight it would snap straight to them. I think bf games will always have this kind of thing

You might be able to test things in Combined Arms against bots.
I don’t know if slowdown activates on them but it should.
I figured out since this that you can go to the test range with others in your squad also. Bit silly of me not to realise this

I actually find the aim assist and slowdown more effective the higher the sensitivity / lower deadzone but the overall control is janky it's really not necessary to have on and has pulled me off easy kills... Which is substantially more frustrating

Have you seen my Lazer aim video? It has settings related to recoil control and how to reduce recoil a lot. You can change your colours in the gameplay settings ;-)

Most people fire too early in the beginning during the shot. I recommend you record your gameplay and watch it back to see where you are potentially going wrong
Excellent video on Dragshots man. On The Settings Menu Set The L2/R2 Threshold To 5% this setting is 100% on standard which will give you a Hair Trigger on Aiming & Trigger pull making the timing of the shots faster also set the Center deadzone to 15 - 10 range to make the joysticks respond a bit faster. I hope this helps out. I have a few Dragshot montages.

I don't know if you seen my lazer aim video but I discussed those deadzones in it. I did experiment with lowering them but it didnt feel right to me with the high sensitivity i use

Nice, comprehensive video. Truly different from others who just say they use their settings just because it "feels right." I for the most part play with bolt action rifles with the Kar98. I'm decent enough at sniping but I tend to miss certain drag and other shots at any range that I KNOW I should have hit. I really feel that an overhaul of my setting can help mitigate some issues that I have and will be applying some of the techniques in your video over the weekend.
I do have a question in regards to your other setting components. When sniping, do you also keep those settings the same? That is, do you have your soldier aim and zoom sensitivity at 100% and 200% with uniform soldier aim off and customized zoomed sensitivity as mentioned in your previous video? My sniping sensitivity is currently at 100%/100%, with aim acceleration at anywhere between 0-30% (will most likely be changing this to either 0 or 100; no more middle ground), uniform soldier aim ON, no customized zoom settings, default axial dead zones, and aim assist slowdown at 80-100%.

Hey R Gray, I'm assuming you seen my lazer aim video to know I use 100/200% with USA OFF? I would put acceleration to 0%. I have my sniping sens for x6 scopes set at 80% now and I'm liking it. But you shouldn't adjust individual scopes sensitivities if you play with USA ON, they should all be at 100%. If you plan on turning it off then you could adjust them. I would go with 100/200 and then start adjusting each scope sens.
What I am suggesting is usually said to hinder muscle memory due to each scope sens being different and to a degree that is true. But if you are like me and you find say 100 STICK and 125 ZOOM with USA ON, (this is what I had in BF1) good at low zoom levels but too fast for x6 scopes then my way would suit you better.
It drove me nuts, that is why I never EVER sniped in BF1 or used high magnification scopes. Its only when I decided to really look into my settings that I found this way of doing it

The aim of my videos are to give people the knowledge to be able to adjust things to how it suits them, not simply copying me or my settings/style. Just showing people this is how you drag shot, by swiping like this wont teach people. You need to understand in game mechanics to perform this shot. Glad you enjoyed it

Hey Ben, I went 80-30 as a sniper on conquest on that map the first day it came out. It is a good place to start learning this for sure. But as it is all pretty much close quarter combat it could be frustrating until you get the hang of it. Thanks for watching :-)

Binding breath button to the same as your aim down sight button is very useful
I do just fine on console without automatic aim slowdown as a snipper. I've manually adjusted my scope speeds for every scope and that works just fine for me and I've got my assist to zero because I despise that cheese.
I have adjusted my individual scopes also. But as someone that plays high sensitivity with the x1 and x3 scopes I like a bit of slowdown. I set mine to 55
main is 45%
1x 90%
1.25x 80%
1.5x 77%
2x 80%
3.0x 70%
6.0x 80%
then I like that 8 times at 150 for extreme swiping of the horizon with the spotting scope.
I'm not claiming to be the best, especially after abandoning the game for months now, but once I got the hang of it, I never really had much issue with not being top 5 at a minimum.
Mine are quite different to that. I hope you have USA off since you have changed your individual scope sensitivities. I play at 100 stick and 200% ads with USA off. Off is key, then x1 is 100%, 1.25 is 95% x3 is 80% and x6 is 70%. I dont use x2 Its all in this video th-cam.com/video/hy14JLsFMkw/w-d-xo.html

Not sure what my slow down is set at, default I think, Love a good drag shot though, 6x and the Krag is my go to set up.
If you haven't looked at it, it is most likely on 100% as that is the default. I haven't really used the Krag much, but most seem to like it for the drag shot

I have seen quite a few pc players complain about it recently. I was the same, it still doesn't counter the fact you have mnk and high frame rates, however, one person showed me a video of fortnite in their latest update. The level of aim assist in that game is nuts, the person shooting couldnt even see the player they were targeting. I know quite a few pc players were looking forward to MW to wreck console players and when it didn't turn out that way they blamed aim assist also. I do see this topic of discussion getting much bigger as crossplay becomes more and more a thing. What I did on my xbox. I just put the hold your breath bottom with the aiming button. So when you first aim at on a iron sight or scope you will be already holding your breath. Making you have a aadvantage and a headshot expert. Getting ready for the Pacific maps. You can do it with no aim assist on.

I swear my crosshair doesn't slow down when I move it across an enemy... Aim assist at 100, aiming sensitivity at 70 percent. Using a PS 4 controller on PS 5
Aim assist changed a bit since I made this video. You now have to be moving your players feet to feel the effects of slowdown. When the other player (enemy) is moving it also feels stronger too

Hey mark i dont use dragshots when sniping i aim just past the person running then shoot it works but it has taken time to perfect but since ive not played for a while ive got rusty.

Hey, go into game settings, controls > control schemes. Set soldier buttons to custom. Then press triangle and scroll all the way down to hold breath and set that to L2 also to hold breath as soon as you ads ;-)

Not really, you are still trying to aim for their head with the drag shot. You swipe across their head ;-). The swipe will be faster than what they can move. But if they are stationary I would then line up the shot

No you can't do this on bf1, aim assist on scoped snipers is different

The ratio? Both of mine are 100% I think, default is 48 I believe. My soldier stick sensitivity is 100%, and zoom is 200%. I do explain the reasoning behind this in the video though. I play with Uniform Soldier Aiming (USA) off so set max sensitivity and then adjust each scope sensitivity to what I want. You only do this with USA off
@@SMKGAMING x-y ratio is up n down and side to side.. For instance move up n down horizontal then side to side vertical and see if there the same.. My horizontal is a slower than my vertical. Do u just keep it on default
@@dustylevi5774 yes that's the ratio one, if you want them the same then set the sensitivity to 100% on both like me. It will feel weird at first due to most playing on a 16:9 screen. If you want horizontal the same then default setting should be what you want.

@@dustylevi5774 vertical being slower is ideal for most, part of the reason why I have them the same is it helps me with recoil control having vertical similar.
That's why aim assist should be on consoles only. Pc has way to many advantages over axis. Planes , tanks, etc. Axis the ISS simply no way to out maneuver a pc player

No you can KEEP all your settings as you have them. When you bind breathing to aim down sight sight (ADS) button you still ads,, don't change your ads button. It will warn you that button already has a function but that is ok

@@eoinm5758 yeah its like a little cheat isn't it. When using the stick to breath and hold down it could throw off your aim a little bit with additional movement. You no longer need to worry about that

when you want to steady you scope when sniping you normally have to press down on the right stick. By binding it to the button you use to aim down sight (the left trigger) it does this for you automatically

You map it to l2, go to controller custom settings and set it to custom and press triangle. It will then bring up a controll binds. Scroll to breath and set it to L2

@@Nancyceleste if you want a bit of extra zoom then ads fov off. A lot turn it off for sniping only, and have it on for everything else. Personally I just keep it ads fov on all the time
i might possibly be the worst sniper in history...stevie wonder could get more kills than me using a sniper rifle...LOL...i do not know what it is but it takes a litteral age for me to get the gun on the target and even then headshots are nothing more than pot luck or if the target is stationary,i seem to always pull my shot when i go to press the trigger,the boys at and other one shot snipers are my go to snipers of choice as it seems for me anyways swapping between rifle and secondary takes way more time then on PC...or is it just me...!!!
It can quick switching weapons on console also if you have a controller with paddles. On console most have to press a button on top of their controller which takes more time compared to a pc player who uses a keyboard

SMK GAMING indeed it does. With even more practice u end up snapping to a target at 250m shoot and headshot. So much easier than bf1 but the sweet spot helped then. Kar and krag on aerodrome is headshot heaven

In bf1 infantry rifles had auto rotation so if your crosshair was near a player when you aimed down sight it would snap straight to them. I think bf games will always have this kind of thing
