In your discussion of spell duration, im 98% sure it effects lifelink as well (based on nothing but personal observation in my runs). Getting an expert/master duration bonus with life link is insane. Those green beams just stay on the screen forever!

I also think I remember you mentioning spell area and the vortex dash in a video... That, too, does work! I was managing to leave massive black holes all over the place

Thanks! Trying to foster a chill place. If you're playing with Merris I would focus on getting some combo of Time/Mort/Lightning.
Mort > Deadly strike > Soulstealers/Ravens to trigger Mayhem is probably the strongest thing you can do in game.
Time > Warp Strike > Gem High > Alteration Ritual is very good
Lightning > Just get lightning bolt and Ball Lightning run around, Pairs well with Gem High.
If you don't want to ball lightning Life Link from Mort is probably the best dash in the game.

the problem of this build is Skadi i think. Your spells and dragon kill alot of things far away from you so you missing out on a lot of exp. Merris with the infinite pull sign make this work so damn well, lightning and blight just kill everything off map while you effortlessly pull all the exp, running blazing fast on gem high hence spawning a disgusting amount of lightning bolts
I did that sort of build, and then defeated one of the slime waves, once there was nothing targetable, i was literally yeeting across the map i was so fast.
Shuriken was a terrible pick. Your first hit bonus wasted every time you fight groups.

I love that helm - I had a sword that had the same effect, but I dont think they game stacks them properly
Oh, that's a shame, I was wondering what would happen with the helm + the First Strike Legendary

Just yesterday I did a run with this item plus a relic and sword that had me at +560% damage to undamaged enemies and using exclusively flare to attack. Just sprinting through hordes of enemies deleting everything with rank 5 master flare doing around 3-4k each hit. Hilariously easy clear and all the bosses are still pretty easy since you can just stand on top of them while minions are running at you so the flare aoe hits them.

I have the same unique helm thornripper, and I found an amulet that is 237% damage to undamaged enemies... Would you think it's a good idea to stack those items on the same character or is there diminished returns or w/e to where its better to use it on another character.
I don't think there's diminishing returns on the effect, there are only a few abilities that do enough first hit damage to make it worth it. Master Flare if you can get too 100% proc rate seems like the best place for this.
Stacking those two items seems nice with consecration

if player survives N time with a boss while chipping away at boss' health and not losing any health themselves, game should just give continuously growing damage buff to prevent slugfests
How can you tell if an item is a unique? I see no distinguishing features???
Unique items will say Unique by their rarity.
