There are too many cases of innocent people being pressured into admitted to a crime which gets them locked up. Hope she finds her footing now that shes free. She was robbed of her youth.
Exactly my question. If she applied for a retrial in 2015, why then take so long to hear the case and deliver a judgment for a retrial. And wait until 2025 to do so.
For sure. She still dumped the body and took out those insurances. Her acquittal was due to police misconduct, not because of evidence. She is still the no.1 suspect at the end of the day.
Wrongfully convicted, but not proven innocent. No one else has been arrested or charged for the crime. She should have been allowed to recant her initial confession, as she claimed it was coerced by police using force. While there’s no evidence to support or refute her claim, I believe she should have been given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to plead not guilty. The court denied her that opportunity, and that decision ultimately worked against her. There’s no proof she committed the crime, but also no evidence to clear her name. The real issue is that her right to a fair trial was violated. Even if the outcome might have been the same, she was never given the chance to fight the case on her terms. I can’t imagine how she felt when she learned her confession would remain. 😖
His blood alcohol was 0.303?? That’s almost 4x the legal limit in the U.S. It obviously would’ve been a factor in his death, especially since he would’ve been an older man, not some healthy twenty year old. Sounds like the police were just looking for someone to arrest.
off topic: whiskey? Back then, it would be rare for someone to drink whiskey. I'm pretty sure soju was around $1 at the convenience stores. I remember going out drinking in the early 2000s with 3 of us and the bill was always around $20. And, we would get bar food dishes as well.
Exactly. Especially outside Seoul whisky was rarely found. Scotch perhaps. Its changed dramatically in the past few years. I used to bring Bourbon to Korea as gifts but not anymore. You can get fine Kentucky whisky at Home Plus now. lol.
I’m so afraid of the government officials for the Korean people… it’s too scary how the officials feel the need to close a case to appease their higher bosses!! No thoughts of getting to the truth.
I dunno man, something still feels off. Why dump the body by the roadside then? Why not just call the ambulance or police if the death was accidental? 🤷🏻♀️ And taking out insurance policies right before death are always a red flag.
Because it’s not about weather she did or didn’t kill him but that they don’t have evidence and can’t use her testimony, and pressured confession are common in Korea I find especially among women
I agree that story as well sounds shoddy but in criminal cases it is the role of the prosecution to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt by adducing evidence in court which didn't happen. First there was no evidence that the cause of death were the pills, secondly there was no evidence that she was the one who administered those pills as it has been reported that there were other people living in the house. And on most cases, it is the government to prove its case not her to prove her innocence and in this case the government failed since there was already another possibility that the man had alcohol content in his body which might have caused her death. Thus in such cases where there is doubt as to what possibly happened, the doubt has to be given in the favour of the accused person.
The body didn't magically end up on the roadside, and why didn't she just call the police or ambulance if the death was accidental. Either she did do it or is covering for someone and helped with disposal.
@jinnimoo Just shut up. Do you have access to the case file? If not then shut up. Who made you judge jury and executioner? The police botched the investigation. She was never proven guilty. Innocent until proven guilty. You are a good example of trial of public opinion that destroys lives everyday. I am sure you won't think 'guilty until proven innocent' is correct if it happened to you
Oh, it's really sad. She paid a heavy price throughout her life, even before prison. I hope that this whole nightmare is behind her and that she can only grow stronger from it. It's not easy at all what happened, but maybe now she can start a better life for the first time in her life in every way. I definitely think she should be compensated because this was a terrible and horrible mistake. So at least now they will help her rehabilitate and maintain her status.❤❤❤🩷🌸🇮🇱💪🏼❤
The Korean government should compensate her. They wasted her youth and freedom for so long.
There is a process for this. Victim will sue and the courts will decide the amount.
Two military men got sentenced to 3 and 5 years recently for killing a military recruit.
The double standard is shocking

10 years after her retrial....TEN YEARS? WTF were they doing in those 10 years? Shameful!
THIS 😔

They were listening Kpoop
Umm working on other cases 🙄 u think she the only case they working on ??
@@luzindaausi9412um u act like they don't have other cases
Justice delayed, justice denied
Holy shit the Korean justice system takes way to long. Definitely needs too be updated someway.
I would want to get paid BILLIONS for having my life taken for 25 years
They ruined her life! She needs to be compensated!
But why she left her daddy's dead body on the side of the road? Will the 8 insurance companies appeal the decision?
These things happen in the US all the time.
Then later it's like, oops, sorry.
Still, his body didn't throw itself on the side of the roadside. And why did she create 8 insurance policies in his name?
What, how can this happen. 25 years. 😮😮😮
I feel like she only got out because of the illegal search / forced confession coming out..
For sure. She still dumped the body and took out those insurances. Her acquittal was due to police misconduct, not because of evidence. She is still the no.1 suspect at the end of the day.
What about compensation?
Only if she decides to sue
So sad.
I hope that they will find out what really happened.
Why did it take 10yrs of retrial
She wasn't proven innocent, she had her conviction overturned.
THE POLICE BEAT HER AND FORCED HER TO LOCK HERSELF UP OR SUFFER BASICALLY! Evil
People demeaning her without knowing the truth. Shoddy investigation
This shows that there are actually innocent people who get convicted and imprisoned.

What the. 25years lost from her life
Judicial system fail her.
A strong lady
Im confused. Was he murdered or not? They said the pills wasnt enough to kill a man. Just wondering why his body was found near a bus station.
I guess all those kdramas about Korea's policy and judiciary have some truth...
I think so too. They have way too many weird cases there, especially against females. Domestic abuse even won't be taken seriously there
Those that convicted her should go to prison .

she lied so much, how does anyone know what to believe? where is the real truth?something still doesnt sound correct
