Great vid Rick! What a kind and knowledgeable guy that Andrew. I'm going to look up his videos, sounds interesting. My father probably likes it as well, as he visited the sony factories in japan many times in the late 80's and 90's and had always great stories to tell.
He said primarily so basically saying it’s not only just for vocals, you can use it on other things like podcasts or instruments etc,, not just for recording vocals !
I used to work at Sony Music Studios in NYC when it existed. The studio had a little bit of everything...and I do mean everything. I have yet to see another studio as equipped as Sony was. I think we might've had two 800Gs. As a big Beatles fan I preferred using the 47 though. I don't remember how often I used the 800G. From memory I think the predominate mic pre used was the Avalon 737. Nowadays, a Neve (mostly 1073) into a CL1B seems to be most people's go to vocal chain, no matter the mic.
I would hate to buy a mic right now for over 10k and wait over a year to get it and then when the tube goes out know that i wont be able to get it replaced lol. That would suck.
I think I've watched every single video 'bout Sony c80 that is out there. I do want to buy another mic to replace my rode nt1, as it is to sibilant to my taste. I've been looking at Lewitt mics, but I do feel like sony would be a better choice
@@vladlabyrinth6335 honestly I don't know, I'm still stuck with my rode nt1 and learning de easing through EQ and de essers, but I'm gonna buy Sony, just not yet as I haven't been making lots music lately, just a couple of songs
love poeple that love and enjoy what they do

Wow, so much awesome info! Great nugget right there!
Thanks for watching Dany!
Fantastic ! A personal lecture from The Man , because you were prepped to engage .
Thank you so much!!
Why do you think he’d say the c80 is “definitely not” for vocals? Especially if it’s made to be “voiced as close as possible to the c800g”.
What was meant by that statement was, it can be used on much more than just vocals.

I spoke to Enrique Iglesias's producer and he said he uses 800G with API preamp and CL1B for the vocal chain.
The recommendation is a preamp with at least 3 kohm impedance so it would be nice to hear it with an high impedance pre like the AEA preamps.
great infos ))

They are Russian tube 😂😂😂
Use Russian tube it’s the same lol
So you they're running out of 6au6a's huh? That must be why the PSU now uses a single ECC81 and not 2 6AU6A's as originally designed.

the sony is fucking killer!!! also worth noting that austrian audio makes killer mics as well.
@@makebelievestudio in your opinion: what would be better for a slight sibilant and quite low voice at the same time : Sony c80 or Lewitt 540 ?
both are great, hard to make that choice but I'd def check out the sony! @@chesskiller666
how is it going?) @@chesskiller666

So misleading that $10,000 mic is way cleaner with a lot more high-end clarity.
