    That c-80 is incredible for that price! I've been stuck in the middle of 2 mics, but this video has confirmed to see that the Sony c-80 is the next mic to purchase!

    C100 plus neve 1976 and cl1b will give you the c800g sound. I prefer a shure ksm32 or ksm42 though 😅✌

    Strange, my ~$11 black microphone (that was supposed to be gold) looks nearly exactly like that, though of course it's not amped and doesn't actually have gold. And ironically in the boxes of both coz I got two of them (at least the boxes look the same), both show the same different microphone. I ain't buying more microphones. I've got 2 reference FET "pencil" mics, 4 dynamic "lollipop" mics, 6 large diaphragm condensers (I might return one of them to exchange it for a slightly different type of mic though). In total it was probably around $150 (including various cables and mic stands). Be careful with USB mics, mics with DSPs, sometimes they drop the potential (for instance, only supporting 16bit, or 24bit or low frequency rate). For playback, I currently use 24bit 192khz or 32bit 384khz (two different PCs). The caveat with that is, it's pretty difficult to do in realtime if you use a DAW or whatever. So you have to do like comparative correlation. Like I'd edit realtime at lower bitdepth/frequency rate, then render at 32bit 384khz, play that back and compare the differences.
    Even my blind dad with hearing problems is like "why do your things sound better than mine"...and it's coz I don't fall for UAD etc sort of ripoffs (and by that I mean, UAD shit is a ripoff).
    Btw, what's the purpose of a $7.5 44mm Titanium diaphragm? Pretty soon I'm gonna start recommending tungsten carbide silicene sort of "fretboards" and such.
    And have a good day.

    I've been looking at some mics that I wanna buy for my home studio. Which of these mics are best for rap vocals?:
    sE Electronics X1 ($160 in my country)
    AKG C214 ($435 in my country)
    Avantone CV-12 ($570 in my country)
    Sony C-80 ($630 in my country)
    MXL Revelation II ($650 in my country)
    The less money I can use, the better, but I don't mind paying $600 for a mic if it's a lot better than the cheap ones.

    • @EdwardSmithMusic
      @EdwardSmithMusic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The sE Electronics X1 is a great budget microphone, and can compete with the rest on these list. It might not win, but it is still a microphone that can perform at a high level for the price. If you are looking to spend more, the C214 is a better purchase vs the C-80, especially when looking at the prices in your country.

    Alan Parsons: "There's nothing worse than disrupting a session because of indecision over a mic choice. I've certainly spent many hours with finicky artists trying different vocal mics, all of which sound remarkably similar, and all I have to say is that I felt it was a waste of time. Some feel they need to go through every mic available - ridiculous!”
    I like the fact this channel compares super expensive mics to reasonably priced ones where people can decide whether or not the small difference is worth the big price differential.

    Being both of them nothing similar to the C800G, the C-100 has a sweeter top end, the C-80 is harsher. In the C-80 prince range I would recommend other options like the Mojave MA-50BK, IMO much radio ready than the Sony.

    Excellent demonstration. However, Edward, you need a singing lesson, and your choice of songs does not match your voice; your vocals sound the same in every demonstration you provide. Having said this, bravo for your expert analogy on different audio products!
