Honestly the game is in a weird state at the moment. A state where i honestly could't tell you if the final product would be good or bad. The best way i can think of discribing the state now is lacking of the most important game mechanics. (religion/fuedal/economy) It's like trying to see if basketball would be a fun sport, but only giving the players a court and a ball and forget adding baskets to it.. Like it could be fun? But we need more content to actually tell. Now we're just running around dribbling a ball, but can't seem to score lol. I truly hope the game attracts it's initial interested playergroup when the core content is added and that it's good enough to keep them playing.
the crafting 100% needs attention. It’s hard to prioritize what needs to happen first when there are so many big holes that need tended to at the same time.
For traveling just make horses and some other wierd creature. That would be fun. Maybe also a few magic portals for travel. But not to much just a few.
They need more pve ,,big bosses ,,/monsters ,a reason to play for hours , Throne and liberty has so many thing to keep you playing for hours {totally different game type i know) but its things to do in the pax dei style we need
The TREES 🤣 honestly with how much it bothers people it should be a priority. Being able to make your base without having bushes and trees in the floorboards would be nice. Is especially a problem in highly populated areas where you may build unknowingly on a tree that has just been chopped - which was my experience. 😅 I waited a few months for a fix and finally just moved all my plots to an area with no trees.
it breaks my heart to go see beautiful buildings that are empty and trees growing through them. You just know the frustration that builder must have felt.
@@jennifergoode We all agree on that, but as long as Unreal Engine is the cause, there is really not that much to be done. Hopefully the newer Engine versions will fix the issue.
Lol.. I love your honest and critical approach here, It is clear you love the game and hope it works out. More Transparency would definitely be great, but I feel most Devs are just scared now to share too much info, because the gaming community in general is very critical and angry right now (even if they have the right to be). You can clearly see many developers are having the same reserved approach recently.
Good point. I feel like Pax Dei is one of those games that can benefit from giving a little more details on what the approach is. They've told us the wild concepts they have in mind and want in the game, but they won't tell us how they plan on getting there or what that would look like. There's a weird balance to be had where too many and too few expectations are a death sentence.
I want this to be great and I get the idea of the crafting grind, but I don't think it will fit my lifestyle if we can craft from storage. Is this coming in the future?
I think the rumoured requirement of a monthly subscription to play coming in at somepoint might have something to do with the lack of interest. People dont want to have to keep paying to play a game already bought.
Game released too early, obviously. Money is always an issue, so that is a thing that happens. However, the lack of development since that time is concerning. I really wanted Pax Dei to be successful, and it may still be, but the impression given by the lackadaisical development is, frankly, very bad.
Yeah, it really seems like they just ran out of seed money on dev salaries, server tech, and game show marketing so they released it hoping what they made would generate enough revenue to continue paying for development, but what they made just doesn't interest enough people.
really wish they would stop focusing on combat and start focusing on the actual systems that will make this an actual game...I know they need to tackle that eventually...but would like to see where the other systems are going...like the economy...
Nah i started playing again after the update. Nah the game deff improved overall. Im enjoying it more now you can find stuff easier. It makes more sense. And im schitty at building games.
Such comments, which don't get the point at all, are a mystery to me. Yes, we all know that there are still a few hundred players, but an MMO cannot survive on that. Without at least tens of thousands of customers, the servers will have to be shut down sooner or later.
Game is in development stage and they took our money to play as a tester. Not a way to do business. They promised an economic update that never came and punished people trying to solo. Just too many negatives. I still have hope in the game but have to get closer and honest with community and produce results. Great video.
boring ass rat race of a game. Get ride of these resource Nodes. Allow actual Graphical MINING. Allow building anywhere but outside of certain areas is full pvp, then again maps are to small
Your complaint that they are focusing on building pieces is asinine. The team that is working on the building mechanics is NOT the team that is working on the combat mechanics. They are completely different people. The artists aren't programming the combat...
I'm sorry but analysing the player count is just lazy. The game launched too early, everybody knows that, and people basically did everything there was to do. But that doesn't mean they're not ready to come back when new content drop. Plus, there's a wipe coming. Empty servers before a wipe is basic stuff. I guess like all others, you just decided the game is dying without knowing what you're talking about. Unsubbed.
As you saw, we analyzed not just player count but interest in the development overall which is abysmally low. I think the developers are dealing with a very dangerous situation where players just...don't care. Hopefully they are able to course correct but I remain skeptical. I really hope for this game to succeed. I'm very passionate about it and have been waiting a long time for a game like the one they marketed to us.
lmao did you even watch the video? have you seen any other content he’s made around pax? Did you hear anything except the ten seconds of looking at stats? Because it sounds like you’re glossing over LITERALLY every single piece of constructive criticism that was said, deliberately.
@@SwampRobin I just watched the rest of the video. The content is fine, so I apologize for overreacting. But as a positive guy and a fan of the ground that this game sets, I just can't stand videos titled "Is Pax Dei dead already?" (yeah that was the original title before it was changed), because guess what, if that's the trend now for Pax Dei videos, people aren't gonna get curious about the game and play it. In their mind, the game is dead because when they researched it on TH-cam they found 10 videos that were implying so in the title. And that's bad for the game, that's bad for Mainframe. If you love this game and you're optimistic about it, you shouldn't be doing that. What's wrong with a simple "Pax Dei devs interview reaction"? Tired of that need for sensationalism. And I'm also tired of Steamcharts defining wether a game is alive or not.

^^ This is the best description of the state of this game, very valid
Decent building game, really bad combat, tedious and bad designed crafting.... They have alot to do to Pax Dei to Succeed....
Definitely more than a year's worth of work. I want this game to succeed SO bad.

Just one plum tree in 4 months of development, just doesn't cut it.

yes it is
um frankly i didnt even know it was alive to begin with

i was about to buy it when i saw the hey we want people to pay a sub for this turd i said nahhhhhhhh

i totally forgot about this game lol.
can't expect to have such an insane nickle and dime monetization scheme and expect people to just act as if it is 2005
