Hey team, here's a video link to this slightly less edited version of the podcast with Aja Barber. A member of my community suggested that I upload the video of this recording to TH-cam so that (alongside auto-generated captions) it's more accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing community. I hope you enjoy ♥️
You can listen to this podcast in the following places:

Aja Barber is a writer, stylist and consultant whose work deals with the intersections of sustainability and the fashion landscape, building heavily on ideas behind privilege, wealth inequality, racism, feminism and colonialism.
Her brand new debut book “Consumed: The need for collective change; colonialism, climate change & consumerism”, is a blazing polemic against both the exploitation and injustice of the fashion industry and the cynical manipulation of consumer culture as a whole. It’s divided into one learning section and one unlearning section, so by the end, you’ll understand why fashion is exploitative, how it’s causing a humanitarian crisis and contributing to climate breakdown and you’ll feel equipped to be a better consumer and, fundamentally, a more active citizen.

Hi Venetia!! just wanted to quickly say that I ADORE this version of your podcast? It's so nice to see both of your faces while you're explaining your ideas and these complicated issues! I tend to lose interest in podcasts very easily but getting the video too really adds to the experience and I find it way more engaging! I'm looking forward to videos of future episodes :) keep up the brilliant work, you're truly inspiring!

Loved that chat! And: online outrage DOES work. Here in Germany we had an all-male start-up selling pink plastic gloves for women to "savely and discreetly" dispose of their tampons. They claimed they were inspired by the nasty smell and unpleasant sight of the bathroom bins when they shared a flat with women. They also claimed their solution was "sustainable". So the backlash was so great, in the end they stopped selling their plastic shit.

This peaked my interest so I wanted to learn more about it. What an ignorant business idea (let alone how it’s underpinned by making women feel shame about their bodies). One article put it nicely asking whose interests it’s actually meeting (hint: not the people the products are directed at) 🤦‍♀️
I guess with every advancement in equality we’ll have ridiculous re-actions that will try to retain power structures
      thanks for sharing!

Loved watching the pod- something about seeing both of your reactions and facial expressions just makes it all the more enjoyable. Keep it up and looking forward to the rest of the season 😃😃

Loved listening to this last week! Aja Barber is such an incredible human being. Very cool to hear a little more about her background. I'm so excited for her book to be out in the US next week!
Out of curiosity, are you thinking of uploading all future ATST pods as videos?
