I love your videos. You're an inspiration for me! I'm an AI research scientist that sits on my butt all day behind a screen, but my dream is to move to Japan and just spend all my time exploring the seemingly endless beauty of the country. In the meantime, I can live vicariously through your incredible videos and adventures. Thank you!
I was already blown away when we went there and just walked around the lake area, but wow Tateyama looks even better from a hiker's POV! I'm glad that it's one of the easier hikes for all fitness levels. Makes me wanna go back and actually climb up one of the summits (i'm held back by my fear of heights tho lol). Another great video! Thanks Quinlan!💜
Absolutely gorgeous! I love these videos in which stunning vistas are combined with local stories and the cultural importance of those landscapes. Such a perfect combo. I was wondering if the priest hiked up the mountain every day or only on special occasions, but then you said it was easily accessible via cable car and bus. Until that point I was thinking he must be the fittest person in Japan doing that hike every day! :-)
Greeting from Thai! Thank you for your amazing footage and great storytelling as always! I actually planning to do the hiking from Hakkoda ropeway on 29 December and another hiking from Zao ropeway on 31 December. Reaching summit or not, will depend on my physique. But after all, thanks to your video and good advice that I decided to planned for Japan visit and do the hiking!! Hopefully the weather will be kind to me during that date!
Sounds like a great trip!! Zao is fantastic! If you can go farther north, I also recommend seeing the snow monsters on Mt. Moriyoshi via the Ani Ski Resort ropeway!
@GoNorthJapan thanks for your suggestion! Ani sound like a real hidden gem, I might consider to go there next time if I can drive in Japan tho, seem like it's kinda hard to go there by public transportation
The view is indeed breathtaking . Am under the distinct impression though that someone wouldn't really want to step on the wrong stone . At times it was kind off tricky to hike .
Your videos are so inspirational Quinlan. I'm hoping to visit Tohoku and Hokkaido for a second time in the spring. I loved Morioka, such a chill town. But I might have to make a diversion to do this hike, those views are stunning. Great job!
So that's what it looks like up there. I've been to workshops high up on Mt Tateyama and I've been to Toyama countless times but I've never been to the top.
We’ve tried reaching out via email but haven't heard back regarding the coffee machine collab. Could you please check your inbox and get back to hera? Thanks!
Accessible and less crowded than Fuji, definitely sounds worth a visit that and it just looks spectacular. If you’re wanting feedback I love this type of video. An interesting and gorgeous mountain and a bit of history/mythology.
You have now visited both ends of the Japanese High route - Tateyama and Yari. I visited Tateyama with a group I was guiding on the haute route in October 2019 - th-cam.com/video/OPfNMg-ATKM/w-d-xo.html (Yes you've already seen my video and there were no drone restrictions in 2019). Unfortunatley we didn't have time to do the whole horseshoe of mountains, I will some time.
Thanks!
Thank you so much as always!
It is a great vid. Thanks man!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
What a great hike, the weather even cooperated! Thanks for sharing these videos, Quinlan - they're great.
Yeah, I really lucked out with the weather!!
It looks absolutely magical with the fluffy clouds resting on the mountains!! Thank you so much for this video!
Gotta love storytime hiking with Quinlan!
Thanks!!

awesome views! im sure its covered in snow now but i wonder if you can still go up to the summit this time of year?
I think it's hard to get close enough to hike it now since there's no bus access...
Thank you! Exhilarating mountain scenery, and a fascinating historical narrative - again, thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
That view right before the summit was outstanding! Great place to set up the tripod and camera!
Definitely!!!
Thanks Quinlan. That ridge walk looked amazing. 🙏
It really was gorgeous!!

Thanks! I think it would definitely be worth a return trip!!

Well back in the day there were none of those things of course! They couldn't do it every day, but must have on a regular basis!

There were some tricky spots past the main summit, yes! Nothing too messy, but yes

Definitely come back to Tohoku again!! So much more here to see as well!!
So that's what it looks like up there. I've been to workshops high up on Mt Tateyama and I've been to Toyama countless times but I've never been to the top.
You know what to do!

Time to do the Haute Route ;)
Gorgeous views!! Again jealous you were able to fly your drone there!
You need to pay to enter one of the summit areas? Seriously?
Yeah... they do a prayer for you at the top and such. The money goes to help preserve the area though.
I see. Not that bad considering that the money goes to conservation.
