Once you have a 500+ hp build you really really start to notice pitch when you get on the throttle and boost kicks in. It feels like a boat climbing out of water. Thats the territory where you're gonna get the most out of a stronger pitch stop mount. But if you really want the most out of it, better to replace ALL mounts with stiffer ones.
Bro, I swear you're a godsend. When you showed that clip from DeTori Washington, that's the noise I hear when it's very cold outside. I've been to the dealership twice for this already but they can't reproduce it. Now I have a little extra ammo to get them to look into it further. Thank you!!
Great video, thanks for making it! I have this mod sitting around since Christmas...Hoping to get some time to install soon. I got the pitch stop brace from Perrin, and then the IAG street series Pitch Stop Mount. I also will be installing IAG motor and trans mounts at the same time as I've heard that those three mounts together make a big difference. I'm hoping there's not too much NVH, but we'll see. Bleeding the clutch is definitely not something I'm looking forward to...Also thought I'd mention, Torque Solutions also makes a knock-off version of the Pitch Stop Brace that is a little less expensive, but I decided to go Perrin since they took the time to actually design it.
Should the firewall connection bracket for the pitch stop mount ever fail? No, but if it is a weak point waiting for it to fail is a risk not worth taking in my opinion. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Thank you Perrin. Should Subaru be doing a preventive recall? Yes, but TSB 12-210-17 is more intrusive. I had both mods done by a shop I trust and sleep better at night. As far as performance goes, intuitively anything that restricts any unwanted movement is a positive and if it reduces unwanted stresses in other parts of the driveline or motor mounts etc, I am all for it. On top of that I have swapped out the engine mounts (STI), transmission mount (Perrin), rear differential mount (Torque Solutions), installed stiffer differential bushings (Beatrush) and a carbon drive shaft (PST). Together all these modifications combined have made a noticeable improvement in responsiveness.
Hey man awesome video. What wheels / fitment are you running in this video? I have a '13 WRX and I'm thinking of going with 18x8.5 +35 to fill it out a little but i was hoping I can avoid rolling the rear fenders with that set up
I have a totally stock 2020 sti, and its my daily driver. I'm mainly looking at this mod from a reliability and improved-drivability standpoint. Do you think Its worth it over stock for either or both of those reasons?
Yes it has been an issue, but not as common in previous gen’s. I think it happens more to wrx/sti’s with a lot of miles and all the bushing are worn causing more slop and movement.
This is a bit off topic but when you got tuned by Brentuning have you experienced some FBK or FKL? I am going to buy their e-tune soon when all the parts come in but on cobb's OTS maps I have noticed some -1.4FBK and -1.04 FKL on like 4th gear giving it some boost. I was wondering if this is normal and if an e-tune would reduce these numbers. Love your videos.
does pitch stop must install with pitch stop mount? 'cause I got the pitch stop installed, and the unpredictable NVH shows up, wonder if I need the mount too
@@Autofreakgarage thanks you for that. Been following you for a while and don’t know how I didn’t see that. I know on your last video you said you were selling your radiator shroud if it’s still up for sale def let me know
Comparing apples to oranges. Although the same specs, going from all seasons to dedicated summers is not worth comparing. They both feel great, but from a performance standpoint, the summers feel light years better.
Chris was curious. Spoke with my tuner for my Sti doing pitch stop n he recommended not doing just the pitch stop since it puts a lot more wear n tear on the motor mounts. What’s your opinion.
Anywhere you put solid mounts, it’ll stress more on other parts. It’s normal and to just the pitch stop. I rode for many miles and years on my wrx with a pitch stop and had no issues. If the motor mounts go at some point, I’ll replace. Not a big deal.
@@Autofreakgarage that’s what i was thinking. So you have had good luck with the Perrin I’m guessing. Was thinking about the Perrin mount and brace a maybe do the grp n mounts and tenant mount with white line bushings in the rear also. Going in for some work soon on the Sti
@@Autofreakgarage good to hear! Been following you for quite a while now. And as a fellow native of NJ. Was thinking about going grp n with pitch stop motor mounts and tranny mount but it’s a big decision if I’m gonna be doing motor mounts also. Always good getting feedback
I think you are thinking about it the wrong way. The r&d that goes into these things is pretty crazy. They aren’t just fabbing a chunk of metal and painting it.
@@Autofreakgarage Some sites are selling this kit for close to $300. The value of the item for the consumer is all that matters. Parts for the 2015+ WRX and STI are inflated and we're not getting a good value out of the aftermarket. Another example of this is the cylinder 4 cooling mod. Literally a rubber hose and hose clamps will run you $100 just because you own an STI. Idk about other STI owners but personally I can't justify giving these companies that much money to cover their R&D. I guarantee they're making an absolute killing. Their profit margin is probably disgusting.
Again, I think you are thinking about it the wrong way. A company did all the leg work for us. Supplied us with a product that we all want and can benefit from. And they are charging us for it because they are supplying the product. Supply and demand my friend. If people want it, people will pay it. If it wasn’t selling, they would lower the price. It’s business and it’s not just car parts.
@@Autofreakgarage I certainly understand the concept of supply and demand. I'm just saying with prices this high, the value is low. My opinion is that Perrin products are not worth the cost and I will be waiting for a competitor to produce a similar kit for cheaper. You certainly have the right to like the Perrin products and you of course have the right to say that their prices are a good value for your build. My comments are not intended to hate on your video or your car, it's just a response to the topic of the video. I also have a Lapis blue STI so I enjoy watching you add fancy parts to your car. 18x9.5 +35 is about perfect on any subie!

Absolutely. It overall improves the driving experience. Anything that does that and does not increase nvh, that’s a win in my book.
Same here I want it for my daily driver. Exactly why I got my IAG AOS.
Torque Solution and Perrin are both over 300 for the brace
Beautiful ride man!
It’s been an issue on all models wrx/Sti since 08 and up far as I know. My 08 was horrible, the brace did help non Perrin though
Yes it has been an issue, but not as common in previous gen’s. I think it happens more to wrx/sti’s with a lot of miles and all the bushing are worn causing more slop and movement.
Turbo inlet and tgv delete next! 😏🤔 Such a clean Sti

I am running Cobb OTS tunes right now and have the same question. I’ve noticed same thing with FBK/FKL.
-1.4 to -2.8 is 110% normal. You should see the knock on the stock map.
Does the brace fit other Subaru models like the Legacy or BRZ?
They have other options for other models. Check out their site to see!

Yes I would recommend installing the brace as well.
So did you go somewhere to get the clutch bleed? Im taking it to the dealer also
Yes took it to my shop and they did a bench bleed th-cam.com/video/lZt7Dk2mixQ/w-d-xo.html
What shop did you go to for the aos, cooling mod done? We’re in the same state and really don’t have the time to do both atm. What they charge?

Yes still for sale. Dm me on Instagram if you are interested.
Do you have to use the brace with a 2023 Wrx? Can’t just use the pitch stop?
This was an issue with 2015+. Not so much with previous gen.
What about wheels and tires do you feel a difference from the last setup?
Comparing apples to oranges. Although the same specs, going from all seasons to dedicated summers is not worth comparing. They both feel great, but from a performance standpoint, the summers feel light years better.
Was told in 2018 they fixed the weaker thing and so my 2019 did not need the brace.....what I was told. Not sure if true.
They added 1 hole for another bolt in the bracket. While it may help, I wouldn’t trust it entirely. It’s the welds that break.
So I should just have shop install the pitch stop/brace for me simply bc the it’s a PITA to bleed the clutch. Got it lol
If you aren’t comfortable trying to install, then go ahead and get it done by a trusted shop. Nothing wrong with that.

Cobb redline
@@Autofreakgarage did your perrin rad shroud end up not fitting with it?
You can only use the right side of it. The left side does not work with this intake.
