5 is way better than people remember I think, some of the best acting in this one I always saw it as more of a drama, just wish they focussed more on that aspect of the film because all of those parts were brilliant.
Rocky 5 is definitely the worst of the series, Stallone said so himself, however, I was pleasantly surprised by Tommy Morrison's performance considering this was his first and last acting job.
@@davidvainqueur5511 I do agree that it was unfortunately the worst, but it could have been great if they had just focused on the acting and drama, it was to confused as a film, some bits were great, and some bits downright crap.

@@KalElCanFly Samaritan was good, but I saw him use a stunt double more near the end which sucks. But I underhand why. Sly has had 9 surgeries since making the expendables. I know he’s fucked up from all the stuns but I didn’t know it was that bad. He had recently had his blood taken or an IV in that episode because the middle of his arm was bruised. Turns out it’s not just from the stunts, it’s from when he used to play semi professional polo and falling off of horses. I really admire sly. I think he’s amazing. I always seen all this prised for Tom Cruise, and he is great, bur he’s almost 20 years younger than Sly and just doesn’t have the injuries Sly has. I’m looking forward to Cliffhanger 2 but I don’t want him to be relegated to an “old man” cameo. It doesn’t work for Sly. I want to see him do what he does best. At first , I too thought that it wasn't good. Until I started looking at it from a different perspective. As opposed to expecting a final boxing match where Rocky fights the challenger That it may not always be pure happiness. We get to see the consequences from fighting some of the toughest fighters. Rocky's brain Damage forcing him to retire And Rocky losing everything that he worked so hard to achieve! That was definitely a "hard punch" Got me thinking about how some famous people have been through that! Remembering when Rocky told Apollo "Look at that, we can't go back to the way were. We are turning into REGULAR people" And Mick saying that if it weren't for Rocky, Mick wouldn't be around. That little by little , we lose our friends, we lose everything, and we keep losing....and you finally say "what the hell am I living here for? I got no reason to go on" So I learned to appreciate Rocky V from a different point of view. It was way more emotional than the first couple of times I saw it.
I feel the movie would've been great as a standalone movie. "A retired boxer who had the toughest fight of his career, suffering from PTSD from it and the losses of people in his life who is trying to relive it through his protégé while neglecting his son." That sounds like a story on it's own and it would've worked. I feel because we had this different writing in the prior Rocky movies that it seemed like the odd one. But even though I prefer the others, looking at it this way, I have grown to like it for what it is.
I remember watching this film the theatre: when he had his flashback with mick prepping him to get back up off the ground: “get up you son of a bitch cuz Mickey loves you” the attendees clapped and laugh with excitement. When he said “sue me for what”they were roaring with laughter
Tommy Morrison is related to MARION Morrison...better known by his stage name JOHN WAYNE. Also, there's a dope a$$ docu about the making of al six movies. STallone actually wrote for Rocky to die in that street fight. Studio was like ahhhh helkllll no
There is an interview with cus D'Amato the trainer of Mike Tyson where he says I think the exact same thing about Mike. About how he wouldn't have lived as long as he would without Mike and he loves him like a son. You should watch it it's great

I love 5.. it's callback to th original rocky with the drama being his personal home life drama and what he's dealing with outside the ring and retiring and such.. I get it its not the boxing drama but I think it needed this to call back rocky the man
I loved this film when I saw it in the theaters in 1990. That said as a 'last film' it pissed some people off. However, now that it has Rocky Balboa (6) and Creed and Creed II, it really has 'found its place' in the series and really has become a important part of Rocky full story and life.
Your reaction videos are always so authentic. I think Rocky5 is pretty good as a single movie, but it's just not good as a franchise. I believe it is due to 2 reasons. 1. Why are they losing all the money because Paulie signs a power of attorney? That doesn't make any sense to me. Why Paulie? 2. Rocky is just coming back from a big fight (so not a forgotten sports star) and shouldn't have any other opportunities like advertising or anything like that to make money other than fighting?. That doesn't seem like a good story to me. You did a good job 👍 Greetings from Germany
Yes to me, it is the "worst" one out of them all.. but using the word "worse" very loosely, because all the movies are still freakin awesome! Glad Emily liked this one! 6 is up there in my favs, can't wait for that reaction 🔥🔥 also Paulie is super likeable in 6.. infact his character development noticably improves throughout the films which I love! Of course don't expect him to ever be perfect lol
I was one of the ones for a long time who didn’t like this one when it came out but over time I came to enjoy it . I guess why I didn’t care for it was because no in ring fight . But like I said Over time I noticed it takes it back to the first film with them going back to being just normal every day people . And that really is the heart of this saga them two but yes it is still the weakest of the films not the worst none of them are bad .
I hope you react to the movie Rocky Balboa in the future. It was after Rocky V and to me, it is my favorite Rocky movie after the original Rocky. It goes back to the character battling his own soul that the first movie had rather than focus so much on boxing, and I found it to be a very underrated movie. Thank you for this reaction.
the fact this one wasnt well accepted was more related to the fact he announced it was the last one and it was not a good ending for the character. it's not the movie itself. now time made it justice since it's just another step of his journey.
I personally don’t like this entry of the Rocky series. That said, this actually had some of the best interpersonal acting of the entire series. I particularly love the scene between Rocky and Mickey in flashback! That seems so touching that sometimes I have to turn away to keep from shedding a tear. Rocky/Adrian, as usual, there’s things always get you. And I love the scenes between Rocky and his real life son Sage who plays Rocky Junior in this film. Sadly, And I had to look this up, he died on July 13 in 2012. Overall, I love the Rocky/Mickey scene and I actually dug the street fight. I still think it’s the weakest entry in the series but it is worth one watch.
@@KalElCanFly yeah. I remember when I was younger, I’m 47 now, hating this film. But I did used to go back and watch the Rocky/Mickey scene and the street fight even back then. Not one of my favorite Rocky movie but it is ok. Fun fact I just recently learned that actor who plays Paulie used to be a pretty good boxer in his youth. Also Fyi his son in the movie is Stallone real son who tragically died in the age of 36. This not the last Rocky movie there is Rocky 6 and 2 Creed movies.
My biggest problem with this film is the continuity. There is no way in hell I can believe this film is still meant to be set in the mid 80s directly after Rocky IV. They should have just done a time jump which would account for the actors looking visibly older as well as Rocky’s son ageing about 9 years. How long exactly was Rocky in Russia for!?
i can speak at least in some way for people that dont like this movie, because even as recently as me watching peoples reactions to the rocky movies, i sometimes suggested that they shouldnt bother watching rocky 5.. and i will say that it seems like the dislike for this movie, is mostly due to us watching them when they were released.. and when this was released, it was a lot different from the previous movies.. first of all, you have an even older rocky, secondly, hes got brain damage and loses all his dough and stuff, and is acting in a cringy way because of his brain injuries.. then you have the shift from fighter to trainer, and the focus on his son and tommy gun.. and then you have the 90s music, and the kind of annoying shaky pan ins with the camera.. and then the big fight at the end is the street fight, which for those of us that were going thru the 90s all recognized as the trend of the times.. and it just didnt settle well with us because it appeared this was going to be the final rocky movie and stuff.. but now that ive watched all these reactions to this and 2006 rocky balboa, i regret advising people not to watch these, because you know, its necessary viewing, and it just adds to the story of rocky in the long run.. rocky 5 has grown on me quite a bit because of this, and i thought rocky 6 was a good finish to the series.. maybe rocky 6 even made me feel better about rocky 5.. maybe one of these days ill even give the creed movies a chance heheh
Didn't really like them making Rocky broke again and back to nothing plus brain damage which I guess makes sense for how many hits he took. but yeah this one got some stuff wrong!!!
For context, this is not me bitching at you, as i have had people suggest this several times but i wanted to offer an explanation. This may not make sense to you if you have never edited videos but it takes a lot more work to do that in the editing process. It would push videos back a lot longer. I use 2 video files the video of us with the movie overlayed on top so that i can adjust the audio of the movie for copyright issues with music and such. Every time i pause the movie i will have to sync up the movie to our reaction. Do that 30-60 times a movie and it becomes double the work. Editing this video took me about 4 hours as it is and we put out 5-7 videos a week. I hope this helps explain why we cannot do that.
Honestly the boxing parts are the weakest parts in the movie. The drama is actually pretty good. Tommy Gunn's character was def over acted in my opinion
IMO, the worse overall movie of the series with the best scenes of the entire series (flashback scene). I skip the movie and watch that scene on TH-cam, then jump to Rocky Balboa. And that flashback scene gives the movie Creed a different perspective.
I’m with you. I only watched this movie for the Rocky/Mickey scene and the street fight at the end. This is the worst overall film in the entire series but it had some of the best scenes in the entire series! How does that work?! Lol!
@@EVGriffinJr A very unpopular opinion but I think Rocky 4 is a bit ridiculous and over the top, as is Rocky 3. With that said I still like the content of those movies. I think I'll always like the first 2 Rocky movies, Rocky Balboa, and the Creed movies the most. Again there's things in three and four that I like but they're just so much more over the top ridiculous and the bad guys are cartoon characters.
This film l thought it was dire when it came out seeing it at cinema. The acting in this was so bad especially by The promoter, Tommy Gunn and Union Cane.
the reason this is the worst one is because we followed him fight to earn what he accomplished all for Pauly to loose it all for Rocky and Adrianne. that is why I did not like this one
Not to get too in-depth. I was 18 when I moved to the US and got married to my first wife. When that didn't work out, I met Emily on Yahoo game chat, and we lived about 90 minutes apart. She eventually moved up to where I was to be with me. That was about 18 years ago.

We have travelled a little, Niagara Falls, Florida, Vegas, and some other places. I love driving. It takes forever but its relaxing. Ohio to Florida is 16-19hrs depending on stops.

The real life version of that beautiful Myck's speech th-cam.com/video/XJtiio9sK8Q/w-d-xo.html Anyway, it is one of the very good Rocky in the franchise, also with a very legit pro boxer in (Tommy Morrison), with one of the best left hook in boxing history. ---------------------------------------------- I very highly and deeply recomend the watching (and even the reaction, why not) of Cinderella Man. It is, in my opinion the best boxing movie and one of the very best biographical movies. I am very dissapointed of so few (almost non existent) reactions to this masterpiece.
Rocky 5 is a terrible movie, one so embarrassingly bad that even Stallone has denounced it. It so disappointed him that he didn't want to end the series on this note, thus bringing in Rocky Balboa to properly close it out. The story, the acting......basically everything about Rocky 5 is just awful.
I hardly think he denounced it. Im sure he was happy to cash the paycheck he got paid. Whether it lived up to his expectations is another story and whether or not someone besides himself decides to enjoy it is also another story. You believe it to be terrible, stallone may feel it was terrible but there are many people who do enjoy the movie, does that make them wrong? No. Its subjective. Art of any type is subjective and no one person has the say so on what is and is not terrible.

Depressing. Eventually he would retire...but being so stupid as to trust Paulie and a shifty accountant with their finances....
This film l thought it was dire when it came out seeing it at cinema. The acting in this was so bad especially by The promoter, Tommy Gunn and Union Cane.
I hate when people criticize this movie. I think it's one of the best of the series
the reason this is the worst one is because we followed him fight to earn what he accomplished all for Pauly to loose it all for Rocky and Adrianne. that is why I did not like this one
I don't even blame Paulie. He's not the brightest guy on earth so why in God's name would you trust him with your money.
@@scottaznavourian3720 exactly..lol I wouldnt
BUT....on his eyes he didn't steal a fricken' dime.
@@KalElCanFly maybe rocky shouldn't have hired Bernie maydoff as hus accountant
Muito bom.
You have an American wife? What’s the story? You went to America and met her there on holiday or something?
Not to get too in-depth. I was 18 when I moved to the US and got married to my first wife. When that didn't work out, I met Emily on Yahoo game chat, and we lived about 90 minutes apart. She eventually moved up to where I was to be with me. That was about 18 years ago.
@@KalElCanFly what made you move to America? That’s a great story. She wanted the English sausage eh? Lol. I met someone from America online but it ended up disastrously. Unfortunately I didn’t get a good ending like you did. It’s really shit. Deeply bothers me even now. Guess she didn’t want this English sausage lmao. Anyway, you did well. She is so American lol and her facial features are awesome. She’s pretty, wish I had a jawline like her. Funny enough the girl I talked to for years has the same facial structure as her. Are you guys the same age?
Haha, We found each other at the right time. Emily is awesome. She is 4 years older than i am. I like them a little older ;)
@@KalElCanFly that’s nice to hear. Lol I can* underhand that. If you don’t mind me asking where in America are you? I’ve thought about going there, more so since I met the person I mentioned.
We live in Ohio. Not the most exciting of places but I like it. We get lots of snow in the winter, lots of sun in the summer, and the cost of living is reasonable. We have travelled a little, Niagara Falls, Florida, Vegas, and some other places. I love driving. It takes forever but its relaxing. Ohio to Florida is 16-19hrs depending on stops.
I love all the rocky series except rocky 5 i don't think rocky 5 is a good movie at all rocky 5 was the most hated movie in the series I like rocky 4 way more better than rocky 5
The real life version of that beautiful Myck's speech

Anyway, it is one of the very good Rocky in the franchise, also with a very legit pro boxer in (Tommy Morrison), with one of the best left hook in boxing history.
----------------------------------------------
I very highly and deeply recomend the watching (and even the reaction, why not) of Cinderella Man.
@@KalElCanFly No, he definitely denounced it, and as the writer and creator of it, I give him credit for acknowledging how bad it really is.
