    This DIY van conversion is an excellent example of how to live van life. Completely off grid this tiny home on wheels features 200W of solar panels and 120aH of battery storage. John has decked out his old van using wood finishes, and it includes electrically pumped water, a foldable hand made bed, and plenty of storage.
    6 months of weekend work to convert this old 1986 Toyota Hiace van, and now John's loving full time van life with his dog, River.
    Although he faces the typical van life challenges like where to sleep and where to find water, he's escaped the crazy priced Australian real estate market, and wouldn't change it for the world!
    Join Nomads Around Australia as John and Evie give us a van life tour of their amazing van dwelling on wheels!

    Love the 'real' of these videos. No really staged vans. All for living life in them. Your doing a great job producing these videos. Egos definitely on the back burner. I love honesty and real. Thanks.💞

    👋 I’m selling up at the end of the year or so doing a lot of research and it is a nice breeze of fresh air to watch your Aussie channel, I totally got sick of watching the American channels. I’m doing a van build, I am looking forward to watching more videos.

      Thanks Leanne for your nice comment. We started this channel because we thought that it will be nicety get an Aussie take on van life. We are releasing new episodes this Wednesday called The Pit Stop about van and bus tours. Hope you like them and good luck with your conversion!!

    Trying to place his accent was driving me nuts!! I kept hearing something else besides the Aussie. I was pretty sure that he was from the US, but not where. His van is very nice, the workmanship shows throughout, so I wish him luck with future builds.

    He has done a very neat job, good on him in keeping his dream alive. Thanks for sharing. By the way, it is not a Ford Econovan, is a Toyota Hiace.

    Sweet van man...
    You think I can find used pop up top for my 91 hiace in Australia and ship it to USA?

    • @NomadsAroundAustralia
      @NomadsAroundAustralia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I reckon you could find a pop top for your Hiace in Australia and ship it back to US. But before you do anything you have to look into the USA customs and importation costs and rules (especially around the right hand drive that we use here in Aussie land if you decide to get a full van!).
      Check out sites like Gumtree.com and FB market place to see if there’s anything suitable.
      If you do end up getting the pop top from Aussie, let us know. Good luck with it mate!

    What brand is the black fan (not ceiling) and what size and where did you get it?

    • @NomadsAroundAustralia
      @NomadsAroundAustralia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Pauline Watkins - The fan is a Sirocco. Not sure of exact dimensions, but it's probably around 25cm to 30cm diameter.
      I hope this helps

    why not buy a little trailer for your tools,? then you got both a rolling example of your work, and the stuff you need to build out

    • @NomadsAroundAustralia
      @NomadsAroundAustralia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Whip Tech - A little trailer is a good idea. In our travels, we've seen a few setups with trailers like you mention.
      But, I'm pretty sure John has now upgrading into a bigger van!🚐
      Thanks for the idea!🙌

    • @NomadsAroundAustralia
      @NomadsAroundAustralia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Pauline Watkins - I think John's already sold this van and converted something a bit bigger.
      I hope you were able to find something😀😀🚐
