    Mate that came up a looking a million bucks all the hard work paid off hope you have many great trips in it. Is the Mrs wrapped with it? Good advice with the insurance mate and you are right they will look into everything to get out of paying out the insured glad you looked into it all and done it the right way.
    Will you be adding any driving lights to it mate??? Should start kitting out vans on side mate a couple a year for some extra cash would be no shortage of buyers. Cheers!

    • @EFFICIENTSELF
      @EFFICIENTSELF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mick .yeah mate heaps of work. And lots of thinking. Don’t think the minister for finance was impressed at first I got the van but she was impressed with the finished van. Not putting any lights on this stage as I mainly drive through the daytime. Been looking at other vans for another build as I have lots of electrical parts and accessories left in the shed but vans are so expensive to buy . I will do another if i can pickup a cheap one . Hope all is well with you mate in vic with all this COVID crap mate . Will it ever go away? Stay safe mate 👍🍻

      @@EFFICIENTSELF Good to hear she was happy in the end mate. It sure wont take long for the young bloke to grow much more and no longer be able to sleep under there he could always sleep in a swag under a awning if u put one in future I guess. Yes wrong time to be trying to buying anything used or to go away in for a trip I'm sure one day things will return to some sort of normal and then you can get into flipping vans. All well here mate Vic has been the worst state to live in for lock downs for sure government here lock downs everything at the drop of a hat. Take care mate hope the weekend was a good one. Cheers legend! :)

    Thanks for sharing.
    Am looking to do a van build next year, so that advice on the Mod plate and the Insurance was awesome advice - that went straight into the van build journal.
    I've already subbed been watching the build. The Fantastic furniture cupboards might be what I'll use too, as I'm no carpenter.
    Flat pack is a great bonus, as they are easier to be adjusted to mould into the van (a lot of work, worth in the end).
    Am waiting patiently for November to get onto those battery specials... 😉 (another great tip I got from you).
    Cheers mate.

    That's cool you mentioned about modification and insurance because most people who do van tours don't talk about it. I just finished getting my van certified for registration to be switched to motorhome/campervan. I went with CIL as well but when I was 80% into my build I could only get insurance with NRMA (in NSW) until I was 100% finished. But I didn't get a mod plate, RMS just said to keep my certification form with me in the van at all times. Is the new mod plate only available in QLD?

    • @EFFICIENTSELF
      @EFFICIENTSELF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure how the mod plates work in other states sorry. Best to contact transport of main roads and ask.. I just asked on Facebook messenger the questions I wanted answered and they replied the answers with links which made it easier to find . All the best of luck with it 👍🍻

    With insurance, you can insure your van or car for agreed value, which can be good, for example, if you paid $15,000 for something, under agreed value you might be able to do $20,000.. speaking from experience, I always do agreed value..

    Thanks for sharing your series on the van build. How much do you think all the different sections of the build cost of the top of your head?
    solar, insulation, flooring and paneling, accessories ect. Big thanks

    • @EFFICIENTSELF
      @EFFICIENTSELF  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers mate. This build all up cost about 10k and this was buying a lot of things when they had sales so I didn’t pay full retail price . All the work was done by me so if you were to get the work done you could add another 20k . This took me about 4 months to do with all the spare time I had . Good luck if you choose to do a van build . Just do what suits you and with what you really need . If I had my time again ,I wouldn’t have the sink as I found I didn’t really need it and I would have the kitchen as a pullout so you can fully stand up . Thanks for watching 👍🍻

    • @shaynewinter4213
      @shaynewinter4213 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EFFICIENTSELF thanks, that helps heaps. Just at a guess what do think the gap between roof and underneath of the bar. No need to measure, just what you think. Looking at putting on roof racks on my HiAce with solar same as yours. Not sure of the roof rack heights as I can buy either from gutter to underneath bar 205mm, 150mm, 200mm or 280mm. Also want to put a roof box on and the one I have had like claw type things that grab around the bar. Hence gap between bottom of bar and roof.
