Derrick’s hi-hat work has always been a defining factor in his playing-style as he once said himself. He tries to make them “sing” and it’s very apparent when you listen to him. What I love about Derrick is his humility. He is not arrogant like other drummers. A perfect example is the ending of this video: he clearly made a mistake and did not end the song properly. But he laughed it off and I’m sure some of us did, too. Keep up the awesome work, Derrick! You are the heartbeat of Jamiroquai.
