On the scalpelled lobe, it's usual (to my knowledge) to scalpel on smaller lobes, where using a punch removes too much tissue for the size of the lobe. This may also be done on larger lobes if the person is planning to stretch very large. Hope that makes sense!
Sorry me again! The belly button was done with a floating navel bar, it's s slightly different shape to a curved barbell, but not straight like a standard surface piercing. I've not seen one done before, they weren't around when I was a fixture in piercing shops over 20 years ago, so it's nice to have seen it on video. I'll leave you alone now, promise!

I ended up getting her to do one for me and the reaction from school kids was hilarious. They’d ask if it hurt... Just as smart as the magnet comments.
Something that I find so cool about your tattoos is that the two arms actually balance each other out so well. It looks a lot more tonal and harmonious than you might imagine, based on how strong and colourful the designs are.

Actually, much of the visible ear doesn't do much to prevent infection, it's mostly the tragus and the hairs on the outer and inner canal. Most of the visible ear bits are for hearing, which will def be affected by this.

The thing with removing a riangular part of the ear like that, I've seen someone getting something like it after they had gotten a hysterectomy, in reference of how they do it with stray cats in some regions, where they get a notch cut into their ear as a sign that the cat has been neutered.
I got a scarification done about two years ago and my artist does a lot of them! She's even working on a full scarification leg sleeve right now. She also sews up stretched or ripped ears, but scarification seems to be her main thing right now, according to her social media 😊

You can get a certificate if you want but it's not required and there's no governing body making sure people who are causing harm in the profession will lose their license because neither exists. This is why researching who you go to is so important and if something doesn't seem right or feel right, leave. Don't be worried about being rude, no one is supervising them.
At 36:00 The triangle out of the ear is sometimes related to sterilisation or infertility. Wild cats that are sterilised sometimes have their ear cropped on one side, either in a triangle like this, or just a bit off the top, to show they're fixed. A few people will mimic this by getting their ear cropped. This is a mod I'm also going to do, as I am very passionately anti-child. (That discussion I will not go in to here)😊

Scalpelling is sometimes done on the earlobe to correct for a piercing that is no longer in the center of the lobe (for example, a lobe piercing that was done when the person was young). You can cut towards the center of the lobe so that the new hole for the jewelry is...well...centered! Additionally, you would never use a dermal punch on an earlobe, as removing tissue is counter-productive when the goal is to have large, stretched lobes. You want as much lobe tissue as possible, as that will dictate how large you can stretch.
Hi Roly! You inspired me to get my conch punched at 8mm for my 20th piercing yesterday. It didn't hurt very much at all (like a 4/10) but it bled like hell and was definitely one of the messiest piercings I've ever gotten. I had my ears dermal punched and stretched to start my stretching journey. The round shape of flesh removed makes way more sense than it does to use a scalpel! The piercer who did it for me was so efficient that he said my ears didn't have time to start bleeding and they didn't ooze blood at all because he put in a snug 6mm.
As someone with a lot of scars, the skin is so unpredictable and the ones you'd think would heal the nicest and smallest, often ironically heal the worst.. like I have scars from severe sh, yet the scars from "before" it got very serious, are the most obvious scars I have lmao.. Like some very serious injuries have healed so nice and easily, I have covered a lot with tattoos and you can barely see or feel them anymore. But ones that were shallow and barely broke the skin, won't take ink and are just annoying the f out of me.. scarification is such a risk tbh.. like some are really lucky and it looks cool, but also scars heal for years. So there is rarely a "final healed photo" within the first couple of years? Like some will always be raised, some will suddenly sink down along your skin, and if you're WHITE white, they most likely won't be very visible bc scars have no pigmentation and so with equally pale skin, it will all fade together lmao
Yes! My recent surgery scars are red, but my old ones and my scarification from two years ago are white and flat. My stretch marks are a lot more visible 🤷🏻

But yeah, like the idea of scarification sounds cool, but knowing what I do know about scars (and how many don't know if they are prone to keloids etc until they get them) and how unpredictable healing is, it seems a bit wasted to get something really intricate and complicated 😅. And like if you get a "bigger" area, you risk the scars healing differently on the same thing? Scars are literally so weird in regards to healing, bc the ones you expect to heal poorly etc often heal nicer than those with the best circumstances 😂. Also depending on where the scars are, if you grow (like getting scars at younger age) both regarding height and weight, your scars can change a lot too.. as well as become problematic.. Sincerely the woman with zero kids despite having what looks like 2 C-section scars after surgery for 2 hernias, one at 3month old and one when 7yrs old, so now they look horrible bc my body has grown (obviously) which makes my body looks weirdly shaped from the scars.. Idk tbh they look cool when heal smoothly, but also what a waste of money and useless discomfort 😂
Being a pop collector, I have had the falling wall of pops before 😂 I hardstack a lot of mine these days and I would put a few in a hardstack (or softstack) and then secure them to the wall to prevent another avalanche from happening.

4:40 I have quite a few scars on my body for personal reasons, and based on what happened to mine, your absolutely right. Of course scarring will be different for everyone, but with mine they all turned a practically bleach white color and looked like they had been blurred around the edges, so yeah the healed end product will definitely look quite different.
I'm not even a collector, and I still hurt for all the loving work that gets undone when they come down. Like I *know* that they're likely placed intentionally, and super carefully, so it cannot be a good feeling when gravity gravities.

Hi Roly! You inspired me to get my conch punched at 8mm for my 20th piercing yesterday. It didn't hurt very much at all (like a 4/10) but it bled like hell and was definitely one of the messiest piercings I've ever gotten.
Also the FFDP meme was very on point, as someone who frequents metal festivals it's painfully real. Their music is popular with the military glorifying crowd.

I had my ears dermal punched and stretched to start my stretching journey. The round shape of flesh removed makes way more sense than it does to use a scalpel! The piercer who did it for me was so efficient that he said my ears didn't have time to start bleeding and they didn't ooze blood at all because he put in a snug 6mm.

As someone with a lot of scars, the skin is so unpredictable and the ones you'd think would heal the nicest and smallest, often ironically heal the worst.. like I have scars from severe sh, yet the scars from "before" it got very serious, are the most obvious scars I have lmao.. Like some very serious injuries have healed so nice and easily, I have covered a lot with tattoos and you can barely see or feel them anymore. But ones that were shallow and barely broke the skin, won't take ink and are just annoying the f out of me.. scarification is such a risk tbh.. like some are really lucky and it looks cool, but also scars heal for years. So there is rarely a "final healed photo" within the first couple of years? Like some will always be raised, some will suddenly sink down along your skin, and if you're WHITE white, they most likely won't be very visible bc scars have no pigmentation and so with equally pale skin, it will all fade together lmao
Yes! My recent surgery scars are red, but my old ones and my scarification from two years ago are white and flat. My stretch marks are a lot more visible 🤷🏻
@RisWish haha not the stretch marks being like "hey see me instead" 😂. But yeah, like the idea of scarification sounds cool, but knowing what I do know about scars (and how many don't know if they are prone to keloids etc until they get them) and how unpredictable healing is, it seems a bit wasted to get something really intricate and complicated 😅. And like if you get a "bigger" area, you risk the scars healing differently on the same thing? Scars are literally so weird in regards to healing, bc the ones you expect to heal poorly etc often heal nicer than those with the best circumstances 😂. Also depending on where the scars are, if you grow (like getting scars at younger age) both regarding height and weight, your scars can change a lot too.. as well as become problematic.. Sincerely the woman with zero kids despite having what looks like 2 C-section scars after surgery for 2 hernias, one at 3month old and one when 7yrs old, so now they look horrible bc my body has grown (obviously) which makes my body looks weirdly shaped from the scars.. Idk tbh they look cool when heal smoothly, but also what a waste of money and useless discomfort 😂

Being a pop collector, I have had the falling wall of pops before 😂 I hardstack a lot of mine these days and I would put a few in a hardstack (or softstack) and then secure them to the wall to prevent another avalanche from happening.

I would love to watch your commentary and hilarious reactions to the ugly tattoos and your satisfaction of them being covered by something beautiful. Idk if you would be able to do that tho without having to tag the tattoo artists that did the cover ups 🤔 but I would love to see your reactions and some of your positive and informative commentary. something I noticed as well for the zipline guy, the harness around his legs doesn't look that well secured so I feel like if his skin were to rip he would tip forward, slip out and then just fall.

Despite having no piercings as still at the age of 18, {well, a few years ago, I got my ears pierced (at Claires of all places, learned my lesson, dont worry) but as I was afraid of the pain, I got the earings removed like right after} I absolutely love your channel a lot, Roly. Keep being amazing.

I have pretty much the same ear shape as the girl at 7:00, and while I'm not planning to get any piercings at the moment, I might ask for an Industrial first just to see if I can trust the piercer. Like, do they tell me "no", or should I find another studio?
Also, Industrial and glasses probably don't make the best friends, too.
For someone who wants a industrial piercing but doesn’t have the anatomy for it, maybe consider a floating industrial piercing.

4:40 I have quite a few scars on my body for personal reasons, and based on what happened to mine, your absolutely right. Of course scarring will be different for everyone, but with mine they all turned a practically bleach white color and looked like they had been blurred around the edges, so yeah the healed end product will definitely look quite different.

14:11 yes I totally remember when nail piercings were a thing because I used to do it to my nails all the time in middle school when it was a trend. Usually what happened is after like a week it usually cracked and broke off eventually from getting snagged on everything ugh ☹️ I loved them while they lasted tho!
