Not complex but for a super villain ironically relateable one. I don't see many layers. He is straight forward in what he wants and who he is. He is an interesting character though an that actor does an amazing job.
@highrollerlion What do I miss? Homelander is a narcistic socipathic version of superman, all because of his isolated upbringing. If thats very complex to you ok... All his kinks, his god complex , his violent acts and most of all his distachment from humans are explained by his unsocial upbringing. For me thats one layer. I could write more about what makes Jerry Jerry the most basic character from Rick and Morty. Homelander is more interesting but not more complex.
@Brian Babin if you think about it there is multiple storylines that can damn near build up into its own universe so it should have ALOT MORE SEASONS because there can be so many super hero’s and super villains with the comPound V
It could have been a masterpiece. But it got ruined by modern progressive leaning politics. Now it's in the category of art that will be quickly forgotten shortly after it ends. Chalked up to a byproduct of an ugly time.
Homelander is one of the only characters that has ever scared me. I feel like in any scene he could come in and kill everyone at any time. It adds an amazing amount of creeping dread to the show. I love it. Great video, too!
Being able to feel sympathy for someone who doesn't have any sympathy for anyone, is how you create the perfect villain. I think Homelander is the most well-written antagonist I have ever seen. The greatest symbol of hope for humanity is its most dangerous threat. All of this is because of one reason and one reason alone: he didn't have a mother.
The tension of Homelander and the threat he brings to the show is derived from his power and his wasted potential for being a true hero. But the tragedy of the character and the reason we can feel some twinge of compassion for him is because of his wasted potential to be human.
This Is a Masterpiece, Homelander Is one of The most complex Villain in The modern TV Is one of that Characters that you Hate him but you love him at The Time and i can Say i felt bad for him
Yep I just completed Banshee after the boys and I have to say this that the show is BOMB as expected But Antony man He is such a good actor that the word good doesn't do justice to his acting ability I thought he would always be homelander to me but he is forever Sheriff Lucas Hood (Maybe till season 3 of the boys) ♥️♥️
His costume resemble america who only controls thinks with might, how powerful they are but (or and) they dont want to be other on first place, so selfcalled superpower 😄
Honestly i dont think he is a full on villain yet. he actually shows he loved both his son and stormfront. you cant really say the plane was his fault either because he couldn't do anything anyway
The way I see it he only loves Ryan because he also has powers, which makes him proud, which then strokes his ego. I don't think he'd give a rat's ass about Ryan if he was a common human, AKA a failure. He'd probably despise Ryan for not living up to his expectations, and we all know what Homelander does to people he despises. Same for Stormfront, the way I see it Homelander only loved her to the extent she contributed to his ego. The moment Ryan turned her into a schnitzel he was like "eh, whatever". As for the plane, if Homelander wasn't an incompetent fool he could have used his X-ray vision to see through the cockpit's door, and then laser'd the terrorist's head through it. He can defrost a bottle of frozen breast milk without melting the plastic, so he clearly has extreme precision of his heat vision when he wants to... But he was too busy basking in the applause of the passangers and let his guard down, dooming everyone but Maeve and himself.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 no it’s already been kinda confirmed via the actor and such that he very much is capable to to love it’s what he wants more than anything and the scenes with his son where done to show that that’s part of the complexity of the character
@@nothingbutintroverted4372 Well there are a lot of gray areas in love. Yes he loves him, but my point is that I doubt Homelander would care about Ryan if he didn't have powers too. Homelander is an extreme narcissist, and the most common trait of narcissistic people is perceiving others as an extension of themselves.

The show is really a masterpiece, I don't want this show to end.
I hope it wont end anytime soon

I just realized that Billy did what he promised in season 1. He hurt homelander by taking his own son away from him

This is how a hero goes melancholy...
Another comment said that Homelander is slowly slipping into madness. If he’s this bad now, what will happen when he finally does?
Most people would've been worse than homelander growing up like him.
He really in bodied this character from the ground up

Deep within Homelander is a hero , But he's been so abused and used he is truly a lost soul .

The two modern interpretations os Superman, All Might and Homelander are like two whole ways to look at Superman
It would be dope if they did a 20 episode final season. (whenever the show ends)
