9 years ago I did a project of demoing a building & ordering & installing a new modular home. I was using a FieldNotes as my regular ToDo/note journal but dedicated a second one to this project. I could carry both with ease in a front pocket. The project one had drawings, measurements, todo lists, refined todos in proper order. I had to get permits & inspections for everything. Demo, septic inspection, survey, remove & install electrical power pole & meter, electrician power pole to house . Ground work & slab, retaining wall redo, propane hookup, heater stove install. I noted info from phone calls to various offices, contractors, utility company. On & on. But was all in that 1 notebook that I could carry all the time. Didn’t matter if messy because small I could quickly find info, numbers, names so didn’t bother to index.. And we had to move household to storage unit, move to RV unit for 7 months, then back to new place. No sleepless nights. I’m not an organized person so this saved my b*tt & mind so many times. Would be easy to do in a Traveler’s Passport dedicating 1 notebooks to the project. I’m now using your BuJo layouts in a small notebook. May use a FieldNotes or a Smythson softcover notebook similar to the soft Moleskine. Expensive but I found a couple for same as Moleskine. Initially didn’t want to draw squares for a monthly calendar but I do better understanding with a picture vs a list. Thankyou for showing this & your Future Calendar. Not time consuming to setup & keep up. One other thing I have done in a FieldNotes is start a small project from the back or even use the 2 pages at the staples. Can Index or not as they are easy to find. If used a longtime & getting beat up clear packing tape on the spine & the magic scotch tape over the staples; can write over that if needed. Sometimes use Book Darts (commercial name) to mark certain areas.
Sounds great. 👍. Field Notes are great. The perfect size for the pocket. I like the idea of using it for a specific project like that. Thanks so very much for taking the time to share this great response!
passport user here as well, I was pleasantly surprised running into this video, majority of the travelers notebook videos are from a woman's POV but seeing a man's use case is very interesting and I love everything about this video! Very intentional and useful
There are a lot of great guys in the notebook community - Planning With John, Job’s Journal, Stationery at 4, plus knowledge management enthusiasts like ParkNotes. There are more, but these are the channels I remember off the top of my head.
Exactly, that's the only reason why we journal and bullet journal. We just enjoy doing it by hand and laying out the pages because it's a grounding practice. There's something that we can get with real pages and handwriting that we just cannot with a screen. I love to think that when we handwrite it gets imprinted in the subconscious, it's the magick of learning from our experiences and actually take action toward our goals. Thank you for sharing your journal and ideas.
Loving your channel and you're convincing me, in a very short time of seeing your videos to switch to this type of notebook from the A5, bulky, notebook. Thanks for your content.
Brother, I kinda like this like cameo thing you are doing. Where you’re sitting at the table and speaking to us….gives me Mr. Rogers vibes. Love it. Keep it up.
The bigger size is just called a standard TN. You will like it .. I have a couple . I ordered a new last week lol it's a rabbit hole .. Love the video .happy weekend !
I started bujo in january. My second one will start monday for april. I use your methods mostly I use field notes. And i also got a pentel pencil. Ive loved those for years anyway. I waited to comment til after my first run at it but its changed my life. I dont do whiskey or cigars but i still watch all your stuff.
Some of them are really good artwork too. Thanks for watching brother. I haven’t been online much lately and need to get caught up on my favorite channels. Yours is definitely one of them!!
Great to see someone elses setup. I’ve found mine a good daily edc notebook too. The cover helps keep it together and tidy, i need to work out a pen clip for this without adding to the bulk. You may have enabled a fisher space pen purchase!
@@SigogglinJack The Midori clip works well on the full-sized notebook but not so good on the passport size unless you pack it around in a bag. I've found a Space Pen in the plastic insert or a pencil that has been worn down a bit simply shoved into an insert work well.
Just bought a passport one. Like your setup! Trying something similar. I usually like shoving a notebook in my back pocket. I have a tendency to sit on them alot throughout my day and usually they fall apart after a few months. Even leuchtturm1917s seem to. Hoping that this will hold up better!
Looking good! I was setting up April earlier this week, finishing up today so I’m ready for Monday. I split it so I journal in an A5 book my “Morning Pages” (MP) writing 3 pages a day + anything that needs that kind of room, and a Field Notes sized pocket notebook where I keep an abbreviated BuJo. April is the first time my BuJo will be in a genuine Field Notes journal because I was gifted a 3 pack of the National Park series. The little BoJo is what I always carry in my shirt or jacket pocket while the A5 MP journal 📓 usually stays in the car until I sneak into my local coffee house for an afternoon break. Should be interesting using the FN this time.
Brilliant! I just stole your spending log idea! It makes me accountable for all the craft stuff and pens I keep buying! ha :) I find the passport size you have there a little too small so I use the Standard size you are waiting for. I look forward to your vlog of that x
Seems to work for me too. It is kinda redundant for me as I also have an outlook calendar on my desktop and on my phone but I find myself using my notebook more.
I usually stuff this passport one in my jacket pocket or my sling bag. It’ll fit in my back pocket but it’s really too big. I will probably leave the bigger one at home and use it there. Thanks for watching brother!
Nice. How do you carry it? Back pocket? If so, is it bulky or can you just it used to it being there? I thinking about doing this as well. Wallet / Notes
This past few months I’ve been mostly in my jacket pocket. I do edc a sling bag and it goes in there a lot too. Occasionally I’ll put it in my back pocket but it’s pretty big for that. Thanks for watching Nick!

Great recommendations.
I love seeing this in use, from a male perspective. I found a lot of value in this. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks very much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
I am ALL IN for bourbon and cigar reviews :)
Congratulation, you got into what I call a Traveler's Notebook Trap: after ordering one you very rarely end up with one
Like tattoos!! Thanks my friend!
I now have the passport size, regular size, and an a5 😂 I love all of them and use them each for different things.
@@jennifermiller7986 looking forward to getting the regular size.

Enjoy your notebook content…I almost bought a Midori, but I decided to make one! That got me started leather working.
Your leather work looks awesome brother!!

Your cigar stickers is the cutest 😊

I love your setup! You’re making me want to hop back into a pocket notebook.
Thanks very much! I appreciate it.
Love that you started outdoors and moved in. It felt like visiting you at your home! Thanks for going into the details. It was interesting!
Thanks very much Anne. Too beautiful of a day to spend it inside. Spring has sprung here in the Smokies 😀

Love watching a mans version of a edc TN :) can you tell me where you got that perfect sized straight edge for the passport size?
Thanks so much! I ordered it off Amazon. It’s the Pacific Arc Pocket Master. About $9.
Love the organization. Have a great weekend
Thank you! You too!
I like your simple calendar view. I want to start using that. Thanks.
Thanks for checking it out and commenting. I appreciate it. I really like the calendar spread too. Gives me a bird’s eye view of my month.
Love how well loved your journal is.
Thanks very much. I’m definitely getting my money’s worth out of it.

Thanks for watching Jennifer!!
What a cool idea for cigar bands ❤
Oh shit… spirit log with bourbons… I need to see that in more detail, we might be twins separated at birth… 😂
@@jennifermiller7986 I’ll definitely be doing more videos on bourbon’s. Thanks

Always good advice on journaling, and excellent suggestions, thanks!
Thank you my friend!!
I like your setup, I have the same TN covers. I carry the Passport size with me all the time. Good video !
Thanks for watching. I’m really enjoying it too
I really liked the idea about the symbols for daily tasks - maybe you can do a video about how you use these symbols

Cant wait for unboxing and overview of the large TN when you get it. What color did you get?
Thanks Mike, I ordered the darker brown. Looking forward to setting it up.

Making a monthly spread in a pocket notebook in the days of really fantastic digital calendars is nonsensical and illogical...but seems to work.

First?
Way to jump on it Wade! Thanks brother!
Was kinda liking this vid until you beleived you had a provably fake virus and then I completely lost interest.
Thanks for watching August.
I read this before I got to that part and didn't understand. I know understand that August is an asshole
Great video buddy! This is what I long for buddy! More organization!!!!
We’re gonna have to pull a sticker swap!😁
