I also like the small details put into this scene actually. I wasn’t the first to notice this but when Din removed his helmet, when looking around he’d fully turn his head and not just his eyes because he’s had a bucket over his head most of his life so he tends to turn his entire head when looking around and not just his eyes. Props to them.
@@dantegallardo1974 yup and good acting at that. If you notice, in that scene, Pedro's eyes look ahead most of the time. If he needs to see something he moves his entire head in that direction. That is because din has been in a helmet for more than half of his life so he would always need to move his entire head to see something outside of his vision
I remember in s1 being scandalised when you see the barest bit of wrist in the first episode. I almost exploded seeing his face full out. Pedro's acting throughout this whole scene was just amazing
I like that before Din takes the lead in every situation. He comes up with the plan, sometimes talks to diffuse a situation, makes the decisions on what to do and how to proceed. But here without his helmet, he is completely out of his element. He barely says anything, he's filled with anxiety, and is acting in the sidekick role with Mayfield taking charge. But you can also see with his face that one thought is in his head "Grogu. Grogu. Grogu. This is for Grogu."
Pedro is the best. The emotion he gets us to feel with a mask on and then taking it off only to save the baby. Melts my heart. Mando had to break his creed to help the baby he loves.
It takes a strong director, a strong person, to let actors try ideas, even if it's not the director's idea. Rick Famuyiwa, thank you for being a strong director, a strong human, a good man.
It is really good, i do prefer The Expanse, but that's personal of course. Mandalorian really is a gift to fans, Expanse is something new and unexpected
Powerful moment. I think up to that point the code has been the most important thing to him in his life. Sacred. However in this moment he makes the decision that some things matter more than the code
Mad props go out to Rick, Pedro, Bill, Gina, Carl, Ming-Na, Temuera, Katee, Rosario, Giancarlo, and all the cast, guest directors (Robert, Bryce, Carl, Taika, Peyton), crew, and stunt people who made this awesome show happen... one of the few bright spots in 2020. THANK YOU, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau!!!🙏🏼
I see how terrified din is when taking the mask off and how he connects to ig11 and grogu on a personal level, like taking his helmet off is such an innocently intimate thing.
I love many many Chileans: Salvador Allende, Patricio Guzmán, Cecilia Vicuña, Isabel Allende, Raúl Ruíz, Diamela Eltit, Alfredo and Nicolás Jaar, Lotty Rosenfeld, Eugenio Dittborn, Las Yeguas del Apocalipsis... just off the top of my head!
Rick said it perfectly: "He (Mando) is deciding what this code really means for him." that incaptulates it perfectly, Mando has change, his code and the creed was the only thing he had in his life after being saved by the Death Watch Mandalorian when he was a child. He didn't know anything else besides do anything for his creed and seeing how much he's developed and adapted to protect and save Grogu really is amazing. The writing in this show is phenomenal and the consistency in character motivations is astonishing.
Even after all of the starpower of Season 2, this remains my favorite episode. I couldn't even bring myself to care about the problematic pirates or ponder what the heck was going on with the New Republic (ex-ISB had access to their databases?!): it was just great. Characterization, action, plot, evil villain, Din crossing the rubicon.... Direction, writing, acting, stunts, scenery, lighting.... Heck, there wasn't even Grogu in it. Still my favorite episode. Thanks to all who made it happen.
My favourite episode of the series so far. Bill Burr's acting was amazing. I hope he returns as a semi-regular. His character does a really good job of making fun of things in the universe. Something Han Solo's character did in the OT but was missing from the prequels. When he was putting on the guys armour and was saying "This guy stinks. His gloves are all wet" I was dying laughing. It's that kind of thing you don't think about but is true.
yea he was great, but it felt like it was Bill Burr playing Bill Burr but in a Star Wars setting lol the way he criticizes everything is just so typical of him, love the guy :)
I know this is kind of shameful, but I’m 15 years old and I had never seen Star Wars. But my brother kept saying how awesome the Mandalorian was, than one day he just dragged me to the living room and we watched the whole show and the book of Boba Fett together. After those, he showed me the original Star Wars movies. Im really glad The Mandalorian was kind of my introduction to the franchise. I love that show, and because me and my brother had so much fun watching it together, it makes it even more special to me.
This was an amazing episode. Season. And Ep 7 & 8 👏👏👏👏. When Mando took off his helmet for thermal scan and Bill B’s character looking away saying he saw nothing. And the. The end with Grogu ugh 🥲🥲🥲🥲. Mando realizing what is more important, his Mandalorian Code or his basically son? And how far he would go to protect his family.
Din Djarin is such a great actor seeing him taking off his Helmet to save the Grogu just Warms my Heart maybe he won't be taking off his Helmet anymore in Season 3 This is the way
I guess in season 3 there will be a strong debate among Death Watch clan questioning his right to rule them because he did took off his helmet before life forms
I find it so funny that he has a well kept up mustache under the helmet. I just imagine him waking up in the morning looking in the mirror and going like "yeah - this looks good" and then puts on his helmet for no one to see.
It might actually represent his not-totally supressed desire to take off the helmet one day. It seemed to me for the whole series he never really fit in with the clan, he just felt obliged to stay with them and follow their creed because they saved him but he wasn´t really happy with the situation.
@@johnelmartagbago3764 I really, really want to believe this, too. But Moff Gideon would let anyone register an account and find out where he is in like 10 seconds? I can’t quite make that fit.
