Alaskan here it was from a jet but it is a very very unique occurrence. There was a lot of moisture in the air that day mixed with just where the sun was set so itgave this massive looking trail. The plane that's in the picture did make it to New York safely and Alaska search and rescue could not find any site of a plane crash
