This trail looks doable for a newbie ebiker with not too much technical stuff. Enjoyed the commentary rather than just riding. Will be trying it for the first time this afternoon 4/2/22 which is an even numbered day !
Be aware there is some exposure and it is very busy and two way so be prepared to stop and let uphill riders pass on the down hills. Not too much technical. The worse section is the cone at the top but you can always walk that if you’re not sure about it. Enjoy your ride👍👍
@@Roaming50 pretty sweet trail mostly smooth with some shorter technical areas. I didn't find the exposure to be very serious. The switchbacks were pretty sharp though and required stopping on my part. Also some snowy sections on April 2nd. Not much traffic at all yet on this date.
Having ridden variations over the many years, before and after the Mayhem connection was added, I just rode it up, from the new Big Easy trail lot on Hwy 6, then Juniper trail, clockwise full Travois to Elk Range, Evening Sun, Travois, down Mayhem. Advisories: Senior status and cancer treatments are a poor recipe for training. I was so gassed near the end I had to walk ridable sections, and while compared to the Poison Spider with certain-death drops, there are significant stretches here where you might not stop in a fall. My balance was suffering with fatigue, and on tight switchbacks, going up you can use a sort of "controlled fall" to lean around with momentum; down, the opposite effect takes over, and making a tight turn can tip you off, with dropoffs and injury potential real in many places. Having MTB'ed since its infancy, I have been stripped of ego and pretensions long ago. I have had to assist in broken bone evacuations, and that takes a lot of the air out of bravado. If you're not wearing a number, you're not in a race; walk when it worries you, pick rides with more fun than fear quotients, YIELD to uphill riders, all hikers, horses. If you aren't sharing trails with a smile, take your attitude to the bike park.
i2ambler2002 not major but it can be intimidating if you’re not experienced in technical “stair like” drops. It’s short and is easy to wAlk if you’re not comfortable.

@@jimji2774 great feedback. Yeah, perhaps still early in the season. Wait for the summer crowds!
I havent been out there yet - looks like some pretty precipitous drops?
i2ambler2002 nothing precipitous but there are a few bits with exposure if you’re not used to it.

Is that bit at around 6 minutes major pucker time?

@@Roaming50 thanks for the reply! I'm planning a weekday ride in a couple weeks.
