I’m so excited to take my wife to visit the birthplace of her mother in Madeira and then to Fatima, Coimbra, Douro Valley, Porto, The Algarve and Lisbon. We subscribed to your channel in prep for our April 2023 trip to Portugal. Absolutely the BEST trip we have ever done, and I've been to a LOT of places while in the Service. My wife and I traveled throughout Lisboa, Cascais, Sintra, and then into the villages of Palmela, Setubal, and Azeitao. Spectacular weather, super friendly folks, and what we'd say is relatively modest pricing for wonderful food and wine, made the trip so memorable. Super big thanks for the information your channel provided us on preparing for the trip. The work you two do is absolutely valuable and useful, without a doubt. Thank you again!

We have stayed in wonderful AirBnbs in both Madiera and Portuguese mainland.
A traditional windmill with all modern amenities on the outskirts of a village close to Sintra, with completely modern interiors. Check the AirBnb reviews.
Or Pazo in Northern Portugal.

If you go somewhere mega popular like the fairytale Sintra go in May or September, avoid the heat and the crowds.
There are definitely good airbnbs, but there are just too many bad ones. Even when reading reviews where everything looks good, we get disappointed.

Portugal is pinching pennies since Covid. We didn't enjoy our visit to Madeira and Lisbon earlier this month. We were served stale baked goods twice, the "fresh OJ" was watered down, and the poncha & nikita we ordered at a popular place in Funchal were served in small paper cups.
