Just got into this game. Went and bought the Gallantmon and UlForceVeedramon structure decks for my wife and I to try out. I saw these two at Walmart as well, but with us just starting, I figured a single color deck would be easiest to learn with.
There has been a lot of testing already with mastemon and I feel it to be equally viable as well as in later sets 9 and 10 it gets meikumon in 9 and gets to play psychemon as a purple as well as being able to pop tamers with Lucemon making it an antimeta pick for bt10 format
I love that Salamon has the DNA digivolve trigger in inheritance because a Gatomon DNA digivolving into Silphimon will need it, AND THEN Gatomon also has it because Angewomon or LadyDevimon DNA digivolving into Mastemon will need it. It looks like it works great in this deck, but I also like the flavor tied behind it.
Great video! The yellow/purple deck may be the reason I’ll be jumping into digimon, damn. Any chance for a video on recommended upgrades or anything like that?
Sadly, some of the big upgrades are pretty expensive. Cheaper upgrades: Flame hellscythe, ophanimon falldown mode, dead or alive, candlemon Bank Buster's: magnaangemon, lucemon chaos mode, zwart defeats
I've been playing A LOT of black decks to figure out how to counter both of these decks. Recently I've found that Turbo Black Royal Knights has been absolutely shutting down Mastemon with Craniamon's boosts from Gigadramon +2k and getting punished by Iron-Fisted Onslaught. Massive board wipes since all of the typical Lvl5s you'd play are the same cost. The only counter really is Chaos Degradation. Against Blue/Green DNA, Breathe of The God's has been my saving grace and absolutely punishing in security. That and Ultimate Flares are just deadly still since De-Digivolve from Dragonmode can go to Lvl3 or even Lvl2 if players aren't careful.
Just getting started and both of these decks where on sale so i picked up two copies of each. Your review and channel have been helpful as I try and pick up this game.
I will also add that mastemon is one of the more expensive decks to play nowadays, with the requirement for multiple secret rares and magnaangemons reaching 50 bucks each now. If you enjoy the stalling/recovery style of gameplay I would more recommend just buying the singles for yellow hybrid instead (I will however find you and hunt you down for playing such evil).
Just want to say after playing Mastemon for weeks now, there is something you need to know. When Digivolving you have to put a Digimon in security. All good we understand that. Yes you may play a lv5 from security if you DNA. What is not optional if you normal evo or DNA is shuffling the security. That is a mandatory effect regardless of evolution method. So even if you only normal evo and just place a Digimon on top of the sec stack, you must then shuffle it. That’s the ruling on her evolution effects. Otherwise great video.
@@trla6505 What do you mean by do both? When normal evolving from one level 5 to Mastemon, you put a purple or yellow Digimon from your trash on top of security and then shuffle security. When you DNA evolve with two level 5 Digimon into Mastemon, you put a purple or yellow Digimon from your trash on top of security, look in security, play a level 5 or lower purple or yellow Digimon, then shuffle security.
After playing for a while ,it feels almost standard and required by meta to have access to starter decks for the aboslutey amazing techs that are in them.
Was kinda disappointed to not see a New Awakening pack with these decks. While the decks themselves are both great, we pay more for starter decks over here and that extra cost was justified by the pack in st1-6 or (exceptionally so) the promos in st7-8. If we from now on just get the deck with no extra for the same RRP that the first 8 decks had then that's some real feelsbad. That said these decks are great enough to sell without extras and it's a luxury hobby so feels silly to get hung up over something as "small" as losing the justification for the price difference in Western product.
I have a question: I wanna start playing Digimon TCG and what i have seen is that there is currently a couple os starter decks available. Which 2 (to play with a friend) should be picked up like to be a fun match, where both have similar conditions of winning?
Wonder if I can slowly transited the ancient dragons deck to a 4 great Dragons one when we get the set on ENG plus it'd probably be a good idea to add 4 different coloured memory boost option cards, since it's likely gonna be a rainbow deck.
