Here's my take on the Rudolph situation: The main reason he has been relegated to 3rd string until now is because of the draft status of this QB room. Mitch was the 2nd overall pick of his draft class. Kenny was the only QB taken in the 1st round of his draft class. Mason was a 3rd round pick in 2018. Unless you get a chance to prove otherwise, your draft history will dictate the rest of your career in the NFL and that is especially true for QBs. Because Pickett got hurt and Trubisky sucked as his backup, Rudolph just got another chance.

    • @elscruffomcscruffy8371
      @elscruffomcscruffy8371 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Agreed. Look at Purdy: 3rd string, got his chance, and now thriving. The NFL is brutal. There is a lot of luck involved too in getting to the starting lineup and it is about taking chances. Steelers were just stuck in a competitive AFC North this year and didn't click. It can't click every year. A good evaluation needed, a solid draft ahead to fix both lines of scrimmage and take the best available defensive players to keep on top of top notch offenses. I say keep the same QB room and replace Mitch with a rookie to learn. Keep it competitive. Tomlin knows what he is doing.

No one who wants tomlin to stay is content with just being in the playoffs. those with common sense understand that without this man keeping things together for this organization theres no shot in hell this team in the state it is in has a chance of winning. We won a superbowl back in 2009. Since then we have had injuries, people get old and retire, and just plain old knuckleheads. The problem with the steelers org is not solely tomlin. He could for sure secure a betetter secondary defense on a regular FOR SURE!!!!!!
but to say hes the reason we have been mediocre when weve gone through a whole period of having a sh!tty secondary.... Not paying the talent we do have to stay and perform.....Players coming in and acting a fool so we have to let them go.....Players not taking a step back so younger talent can develop..... We have been LUCKY to consistently see the playoffs most of the years we have been around and mike tomlin is a primary reason why that luck turned into success.

Rich finally is starting to understand, it isn't all about winning super bowls, it is at least going deep into the playoffs and maybe an AFC Championship once in a while is what Steelers fans expect. Not an occasional playoff game where we go one and done. The last time we made any deep run and also played in an AFC Championship game was 2016. The year Big Ben had to call out the players AND coaches after going 4-5 losing to the Cowboys, and that was the catalyst of winning out the last 7 games. Anyone realize Ben did it again this year too with the "lost the Steelers way?" Now look at us.

Except, we've had multiple players confirm that, those comments aren't true. Tomlin never lost the locker room, Tomlin never didn't have the locker room keeping the Steelers way. It's the individual players not executing. Mason is inserted and uses his vet ability to make the offense cohesive.

Do something. Fix it. Get a real QB. Don't let the OC run the same crap for 3 years.
Tomlin doesn't know offense. He won't call plays. Get a guy who will and is good at it? You think Bieniemy is taking Washington over Pittsburgh?
I like Tomlin. I want him to stay.
We have the pieces. Make the necessary changes. That's all I'm asking. Mason is not the long term answer. Mason is the answer to hopefully a playoff seed, best case a win.

Ummm...no, he doesn't. Steelers fans know it's all about the personnel in the pads. Get the people who want to _and are able to_ do the work and success will follow. Matt Canada is the exception; his system was flawed beyond repair. So much so, the Steelers did something they hadn't done in over 80 (yes, I said EIGHTY) years: Fire a coach mid-season. Pittsburgh is different; always has been, always will be. They don't subscribe to the "new coach, new team" meme. Tomlin will go when he's ready...not before. Noll, seven losing seasons out of 23...retired. Cowher, three losing seasons out of 15...retired. Tomlin, no losing seasons out of 17...he will retire. Period.

@@NeilTruick Tomlin doesn't deserve to mentioned in the same sentence as Chuck Noll, who took a perennial losing franchise and turned them into a dynasty that still resounds nationally today. Tomlin is the beneficiary of what was already built in Pittsburgh and inherited a future HOF QB in Big Ben with plenty of talent up and down the roster. Tomlin had initial success but has since then mostly hovered around the playoff edges, and choked in a number of playoff games they should've won. And now it's been 6 or 7 years since the last playoff win. If that's fine with you, so be it. But don't add Tomlin into any conversation that includes Chuck Noll.

No, here's my issue with Tomlin
    - No playoff wins in 8yrs. Previous length was SIX YEARS as longest streak since the Merger.
    - Tomlin's fire is gone in his eyes. The guy isn't the same & is looking too comfortable.
    - Andy Reid. Reid would NOT be successful if he was still in Philly. Sometimes, a coach is really good, but has been in 1 place too long.
    - He liked Pickett. Pickett stinks.

    • @NeilTruick

Chuck Noll: Six losing seasons out of 23.
Bill Cowher: Three losing seasons out of 15.
Mike Tomlin: No losing seasons out of 17.
I've been a citizen of Steeler Nation for 50 years. We do not fire head coaches. The head coach sets the tone. The players execute. Pickett wasn't ready, Trubisky has never been ready, and Rudolph was on time out. Big Ben spoiled us, then he stayed too long. We always did better when the WRs weren't acting out. Now that we have a reliable run game, the WRs have to understand they're not going to be leaned on as much as other teams lean on their wide outs. It's not flashy, it's not sexy...it's Steeler football. It's not supposed to be.
Let's say we get rid of Tomlin (which won't and shouldn't happen). Who takes his place? Regardless of who it is, the head coach never takes a snap, never makes a tackle, never recovers a fumble. Not his job. What _IS_ his job is making sure everybody else does theirs to the best of their ability. Canada had no ability. First time in 82 years the Steelers fired _any_ coach midseason. Noll retired. Cowher retired. Tomlin will retire. That's the Steeler way.

Timeouts usage. Head scratching to say the least. Super slow to make changes in personel. Talk about beating a dead horse. Bringing back Canada and Trubisky? Stuck on suck. Listen, I like Mike. The problem I have is that the Head Coach is supposed to put you in the best position to win. I’ve seen his game analytics that put them in worse positions repeatedly. Nonsensical. Mediocrity is not my flavor. Also, when your offense goes 3 and out repeatedly the defense becomes vulnerable to injuries. Just my 2 cents.
