Distance: 33KM
Steps: 41,212
It was a rather misty start to the day. I soon reached the improvised 100 KM marker and then pushed ahead along the complementary route. By turning right instead of left, I shaved 10 KM off the distance balance and that meant I'd end up on the Camino Francés by the end of tomorrow.
Today's route was mostly asphalt after some forest trekking on gnarly ground. My legs ached.
The accommodation crunch bit again. A scout troop took up 40 beds at the monastery in Sobrado Dos Monxes. There was no choice but to book ahead for tomorrow in Arzúa.

Such a beautiful work my friend! 🤗👏
Thanks, as always, for watching. It means a lot.
Lots of asphalt on this day
Yes, you're right but I didn't mind it too much. Sometimes, I find, the gravel pathways are too much.
Gravel would be an ankle ripper methinks.
Yep!
Questions: I am one maybe two rest days before Baamonde where I will meet my cousin. Where is the best place to take a rest day? Also, how was your body after the Camino? Did you lose any weight, Do you feel you got stronger? Last, Are there any vegetarian choices on the Norte? I have been vegetarian for 14 years, I don't want the break it. Thanks!
Thanks for your questions. I felt relaxed, invigorated and supremely strong at the end of my Camino. After 40 days on the Way, I reached a level of calmness that quickly disappeared once I returned to the hustle and bustle of daily life. Anyway, I walked with several vegetarians and vegans ... they usually made or bought their own meals from supermarkets. There are few meatless options otherwise. I don't think I lost any weight to be honest but I noticed that I wasn't as hungry as I usually am especially in the afternoon. May be that's due to constant snacking. If I were you, I'd give yourself an extra day to rest in Santiago de Compostela.
@@PhillipATowndrowHikes Thank you for your response. I will have a rest day in Santiago. I will be spending two days in Porto and then Lisbon, before flying to Berlin. Last year, I did the Primitivo and earmarked 15 days from start to finish. I finished in 12 days, so I had quite a few restful days in Santiago.
This summer, I have 40 days to do in and I plan to finish in 31 days. I just hope I can do it. I have been studying the Primitivo and Norte profiles and it seems like 31 days are doable for me. I hope I can do it. My pack is all ready and its not evenJune yet. :)
@@noralynification That's fantastic! I'm returning to Spain in May to walk with a friend from St. Jean to Burgos.
@@PhillipATowndrowHikes That's wonderful. The Camino always beckons.
