    Thank-you for the video, just fixed mine. A few notes based upon my experience. 1) It is a lot easier to simply go ahead and remove the drum and hardly any extra effort. 2) While the drum is removed, go ahead and remove the four load bearing wheels and clean them and their shafts, inspect for cracking, etc. None of these contain actual bearings to fail. I put some high-temp grease on each wheel when reinstalling. BE GENTLE with the small triangular shaped capture washers as they will break. 3)Go ahead and replace the belt while you are in there. The odds are if the tensioner has failed, the belt is old enough that it has stretched 3-4 inches anyway and has become inefficient. 4) clean out all of the escaped lint and rake in the loose change that has settled under the drum like a 70s auto backseat! Super easy fix, especially with the help of the video!

    You helped me fix it. I replaced the bearing, belt, and side rollers, 2 months ago and then the belt started slipping on the motor. The bearing even though new, was freezing on the shaft. I greased it well, and so far no noise and no slipping. And with that, it is time to take a nap!

    Thank you I have this dryer and it was screaming and so loud I thought it would explode. I watched your video and got the part and I did it myself in like 20 minutes! Sounds good as new now! Saved me a lot of money doing it myself and not having a repair person come!

    Another successful student of your tutorial! Might add that the bottom of my frame just below the door was quite sharp and putting a cloth over the edge will prevent a scrape or cut on your arm while trying to do the work.. BE SURE you follow the video exactly when putting in new part.. IF you put the belt on first and then try to install the spring .. its extremely
    difficult.. THANKS for saving me $200 on a service call

    741/NASA!! Same dryer, broken belt. Thank you for an excellent video. I struggled to find how in the world to access the pulley area. I removed the back sheet metal, which need a good vacuuming. Getting the door off was the key. I'm now awaiting a $10 belt from Walmart (Amazon wanted $30). Thanks again and cool shirt.

    very helpful video...thank you! Saved me loads of time! if the tensioner pulley is siezed up, it is not difficult to remove it from the idler arm and give it a cleaning. This was the case with my dryer. the bushing interior was gummed up and frozen to the race.Sprayed a little wd40, removed the triangle clip (carefully though, it is plastic and could snap)and the pulley came right off. cleaned it and removed the wd from the pulley itself so the belt wont slide; greased the race and put it back together. my pulley was still in usable condition.

    I'm trying to take the top cover off the dryer door after dropping the door catch that holds the door closed. There are four screws along the inside top edge I took out but the cover doesn't want to pop off. I don't want to pry on it and maybe break something. Have you had your off and if so, how did you do it? If I take it off, I'm sure I can reach into the bottom of the door to get the door catch.

    why not just change the pulley.. it's easier than changing the assembly..?

  • @spearsg

    My dryer squeeks are fixed by spraying grease/WD40 on all the roller axles. This must be done approx 3 times per year. Luckily, removing the front cover for access is only a 5 min job (10 min round trip) -- so I'm ok with this, for now.

    Can you think of any reason my dry clothes(from the dryer)don't smell clean. If I line dry them there is a big difference. The machine is almost 20 years old and worked fine. Could the smell be coming from the dryer filter?

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might be the filter or lint stuck some someplace else inside. You might have to take it all apart and clean the insides out.
