To draw off a Star Wars line, an elegant vehicle from a more civilized time. You are right to rate this SUV so highly. It is a combination of both nostalgia and BMW excellence, the likes of which we have not seen in a while from this once stellar manufacturer.
that was the glorious era of BMW BRAND. MR CHRIS BANGLE made the best designes and he fixed the brand s identity that we miss today. classy and timeless shape that will never die. never. we tune undlesly the machine and keep it alive. GREAT SUV.....STUNNIG REVIEW.
I have a 2004 X5 in grey, but with the 3 liter straight 6. I love mine. The design was and is gorgeous. BMW designs now are just weird and make no sense. Especially with the monstrous grills.
I have the exact same car same color everything bought the car but I had bad luck with it if any one is interested in this vehicle please lmk now, unfortunately I couldn’t find anyone to fix it for me so it has been park in my garage for 5 years.
Nice video. The smell you mention about the interior is called old car smell. It happens to all cars around 25 years old. In a few years, it will start to smell like moth balls.
Clearly you have never smelled the inside of a brand new BMW 20 years ago, it a very unique smell and not the old car smell you refer to, modern new cads just smell like disposable plastic bags while BMWs back in the day smell like hide and wood.
Agree and disagree. The 4.8 is a much more modern motor. But this definitely is the best looking one. The body is taut and simple but interesting. All subsequent X5 look like they have puny little wheels even with 22 inch rims. They look like ugly bloated minivans.
It’s the negative camber in the rear that you see on X5s without 20s that make them look horrible, but a well kept and maintained X5 with 20s changes the look entirely. Sucks that 90 percent of e53s on the road today are clapped

That button wasn’t an e brake. The actual brake is right next to it. It’s lock and unlock.

the X5 carries the beautiful finesse of the E46 which still is one of the best designed BMWs still today.

My 4.6is is in Nigeria i miss it badly. Mine is in silver with comfort seats and double glazing.

Life is too short to drive ugly cars. Especially those whose design aesthetic is best defined as caricature.
Well just your taste in the end. I don't feel anything for these for cars. There is no nostalgia, just dated design. It has not aged well imo.

These cars were not designed by chris bangle. He came later and made the e9x 3 series and e60 5 series
Will never die? I like BMW but this did not age that well at all.
It was actually developed by the M division then cancelled and rebadged at the last minute it has an alpina engine with reworked heads and cams by M
