      I agree, we need to stop blaming other countries for our problems, and countries need to stop looking at us as a model country, everyone knows this country was founded on an elite class of gentry, and only made an equated constitution that only benefited them at that time, good ideas bad execution of those ideas.

    What Kim is trying to say is that her restaurant is a reseller type, and that's fine, but what's awkward and ridiculous is that she didn't name here restaurant like this: "Sweet Dixie Kitchen featuring Popeye's Chicken". Lol I was trying forget this first story while watching the rest of the video and I somehow managed to, but when that twitter logo appeared, Popeye's chicken came back to my mind. :D

    I'm wondering how the catcalling law will be enforced. Will it require that law enforcement witness it? Or just a third party as a witness? Or we'll it be an honor system, where the woman's word is enough? There will obviously be issues with all three of these. Requiring law enforcement see the catcalling we'll essentially ensure that most instances of catcalling go unpunished. And simply using an honor system could very much be abused, where a woman could simply lie. I wish that didn't need to be considered, but we see far too many instances of the alleged victims lying just to get someone in trouble. Perhaps the best option is to require any third party witness, but even that has issues.

      @jasonsamedi5617 7 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      cat·call : a whistle, shout, or a sexual move as a person walks by another person.
      It will be enforced poorly because there's no proper way to enforce it without crushing the rights of people. Witnesses would almost always be required, but the quality of those witnesses unreliable at best. You say "Excuse me", she hears "Floozy", and her friends agree with her just because their friend is really upset. Enjoy your fine and criminal record without a trial. Or you have a falling out with a girl, and you're both yelling at each other, enjoy that rap sheet because it's your word against hers and the law will undoubtedly be gendered to favor women.

      It sounds so impossible that I think the Frech government just said they'll try and do it to shut people up. I don't think they'll actually introduce a law that's so one-sided it's laughable.

    • @captaincaptain2674
      @captaincaptain2674 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It sounds difficult to enforce but I'd think that the best scenario would be if the woman records it, and presents evidence of the person harassing them. Its not ideal for women who would want to utilize this law to defend themselves, as they'd need to be recording themselves all the time. But who knows, time will tell!

      Please, can you stop talking on the behalf of my fellow citizens and making erroneous statements ?
      The movement has little to nothing to do with muslim men, and there aren't any legion of muslim in our streets.
      There is A legion, the French legion, who kick ass and has probably some war crime (I say probably because I don't want to be killed) and rape is probably part of it, but no muslim legion (even figuratively speaking).
      In fact, most #balancetonporc tweets accused, when color could be inferred or noted, white people (French people, in fact, hence mostly white people, but you got it, I think). For exemple, a former minister was accused.
      There are also muslims that were accused. But those we know (nation-wide) to have been accused aren't young nor recently-arrived from a muslim country. Because he is from the helvetian confederacy (i.e. Switzerland). And it's been a while since we know he has at least some horrible views, even if the law guarantee him from being accused for these views (which is a good thing, democracy would have be a horrible view two-hundred years ago). And he is currently charge for his alleged agressions.
      So, we aren't apathetic and muslims aren't the majority of the perpetrators of alleged agression (at least the ones revealed by #balancetonporc).

    Firstly about the chicken: she realizes that's illegal right? Once you buy something at a restaurant it's illegal to resell it for profit like that. That's why at concerts they either pop the tab on your can of beer or in some other way open it and make sure you can't close it again so you can't resell it.
    Secondly: this was honestly your best Alex Jones impersonation thus far good job Phil!

  • @eos4672

    If she had worked out a partnership with the company first before using their chicken (and they would ship her some or something for her to use in her meals) that would be one thing but she was just buying it and passing it off as her own. That is just stupid and I am sure it is illegal/against FDA regulations in some way (it has to be right?). I don't know if she just wasn't thinking or was intentionally trying to mislead people but it was stupid on her part either way

      Wrath's Turntable Time Machine Rocksmash Attack (AKA The Mysterious Reuploader, Ace-edo Mask!) Well for example I'm in Wisconsin and I certainly don't remember seeing any Facebook ads but if people want to blame that on why Hillary lost Wisconsin I'd simply rebut that with the fact she never came here once. Its mind blowing to me that some people believe $10,000 or $100,000 dollars or whatever in Russian ads completely derailed Hillary's (or any other politician for that matter) multi-million dollar campaigns with way more spent in ads. I can't speak for everyone, but an ad has NEVER swayed my voting. At best, it makes me research the information it's claiming.

      There is a difference between buying hotdog buns and buying the entire hotdog with sauce, relish and pickles already included on the dish and then claim that everything is made from scratch in-house. Everyone knows that restaurants buy *ingredients* premade.
      But the restaurant can still say that they made the dish and bought the ingredients elsewhere. We call that "giving credit." That's like claiming that you made your thesis by yourself when you bought it from some Chinese student and all you did was put your signature at the bottom.

Whenever Twitter does one of their crackdowns on bot accounts and shuts a whole bunch of them down, you always see people with a ton of followers lose a bunch of of them. Twitter actually stopping bot accounts would bring to light how many of the accounts aren't real, and make advertisers question how effective the ads on Twitter are, hurting their business model.

    The chicken story made me laugh especially when Phil compares pricing with Popyeye's and mentioning a biscuit. I live in Australia however while holidaying in America I visited a KFC AZ. I ordered chicken, chips and dinner roll. The staff were confused by dinner roll and said, "oh, you mean a biscuit". I said no, (biscuits in Australia are cookies) like a mini bread roll. Anyway, got my order. The chicken was delicious, the chips were potato wedges and my "biscuit" was what we call here "scone". So, I reheated the biscuit/scone the next morning and buttered it. It was delicious. lol.

    I feel like the French consent laws are ridiculous. If you are under the age of consent, that means you can't consent to sex. If you don't consent, that is rape. Period. It shouldn't matter if you resisted or if force was used.
    And to add to that, under the standard enumerated in French law, what happened to McKayla Maroney and 100s of other young gymnasts would only be classified as "sexual abuse of a minor" which carries only a 5 year penalty and a fine per charge.

    • @jaredpoon5869
      @jaredpoon5869 7 ปีที่แล้ว +54

      Ok...I did a modest amount of Google searching, and it seems that there's this thing called a "first-sale doctrine," that is, after a person has legally bought a trade-marked or copyrighted, he or she can then resell it (but not reproduce it) legally.
      Thus, as long as the lady bought it legally, and they don't somehow reproduce the chicken, they are allowed to resell it. It's also the same reason why you aren't breaking any trademarked or copyright laws when you sell a book or an object on ebay. Since you (hopefully) bought it legally, you can then dispose of it however you wish (apart from making copies).
      Now, if you are caught using someone's actual product in your product (and not just ingredients), then it can cause some really bad publicity. But legally, you're fine.

      Matt Deezly There is a difference between whistling and make crude remarks and following women (possibly under aged ones at that) and talking about sexual things you would like to do to them.
      It's harassment. And like in any other case, there should be punishment. Nothing like jail time but at the very minimum a fine or a misdemeanor.

    I've had a problem with money in politics for a while now, and this just seems like a tipping point. The main problem is that the candidate with the most funds, therefore the most ads and more importantly the most donors, will win the vast majority of the time. It seems like the government is forced to agree with this, saying that political ads are SO powerful that we must restrict the "free speech" of other nations who may influence our elections. Well which is it? Are ads by definition manipulative and should not be used in politics and elections altogether, or are they simply the free market, and voters can make their own choice about who is best to lead without ads influencing them (which statistically isn't true).

    • @JacobCMayer
      @JacobCMayer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trump is actually an exception to this. He had much less spent on ads for his side than Hillary did for hers. Hillary just sucked at campaigning, never once in an ad saying what's good about her outside of her not being Trump. Marketing 101: Mention what the product does. But if it weren't for incompetence and the media crucifying Trump for the tiniest things, it would just have been the one who spent the most money on ads.

    About the whole Russian ad buyers, I personally had know this was happening a good 2-5 months ago. I learned this from an article that I found when searching for memes on Alex Jones(funny right?) and immediately understood why there was so much political nonsense. I've always thought how ridiculous people have getting with their movements. Making redundant "social" movements, gaining increased members from seemingly nowhere and how polar opposite some of these new movements were. I don't exactly remember what article it was, but I remember it talking about an investigation that was being conducted on social media platforms and the surge in political ads during the election.
    While what I think congress is trying to do will be good if passed, I think it can only do so much. All we can do as peers in encourage proper research. Don't follow an ideology because it sympathized with you at a certain moment. We have to be aware of what we're following and always remember to not encourage chaos. That is what other countries who are against us would want. We can't continue to repeat the past mistakes other large countries made. Many great civilizations fell due to internal chaos either causing the country to split or allowing other to invade from the weakened state.
    We have to focus on the people and make the majority understand how to take this with a level head.

    Catcalling is not enforceable. Cops would have to be there in the moment or women would have to be on guard at all times, ready with their phones to catch the men doing it. It isn't practical.
    Also how do you define catcalling? What is acceptable to say to a woman? "Hello, beautiful, how is your day going?" should be seen as being a lot different from, "Hey baby, bring dat fine ass over here, so I can get a better look," but with the state of things you can never tell how someone is going to react to something as benign as the former statement. It is something that will just continue to scare men away from approaching women altogether. If men have to wait for an invitation, then unless you are of male model status, you will be waiting a very long time.

    • @michaellimpert5178
      @michaellimpert5178 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      +Justin B Though we are not responsible for our government's actions, this outrage over Russia does make us hypocrites. America has been responsible for manipulating foreign elections all around the world for the last 50+ years. Being upset that Russia supposedly meddled with the American election is hypocritical because no one spoke out against the government while it was widely known that our government was doing that. Even so, Russia buying $100k in advertisements isn't going to sway an entire election while the American government has done much more to manipulate foreign elections.

    • @UshioKiss
      @UshioKiss 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      EveryDay Idk i feel like most people would be upset to find out that Russia wants to divide the country by promoting any and all politically polarizing ads. And John McCain is Republican but go off I guess.
      Also: an average citizen being upset by this is not hypocritical because chances are they don't know about and would be upset by American manipulation in foreign politics. If one country start to make moves to prevent this, others may too.

I guess you could maybe claim it to be "immoral" depending on your definition of morality but i wont go into philosophy now. Someone bought ads, Facebook sold that someone ads. You cannot hold facebook accountable for whom consumed said ads nor what they did with those ads in mind (who they voted for, how they reacted to news or whatever)

    This is probably the very first time that I don't see eye to eye with Phil to this extent (in fact, I consider us very like-minded). Her reply to that guy, I felt, was quite light and tongue in cheek. She never appeared to hide it (including from the patron in the restaurant when he asked about it). Restaurants evolve, change, and experiment with homemade vs. pre-made foods all the time (and most mom & pop type places don't typical update their website overly often either). Most often partake in the sale/re-sale of pre-made foods and indeed surcharge, as part of what you're paying for is the restaurant experience itself...a quiet place to grab a nice drink with a buddy, have a server cater to you at the table, try various sides/sauces that come with the food, etc, etc...so for us to call her "dumb" etc. seems a bit unnecessarily harsh imo. Keep up the great work otherwise :)
