Being unable to follow everything from guidelines to laws and then justify his own actions as correct through his interpretation of scripture doesn't seem like a penitent attitude necessary to get his kids back. I mean he’s not entirely wrong. There’s polygamy in the Old Testament. Now Abraham having two wives isn’t a great example because he takes his second wife explicitly because he gives up faith that God will give him a child with his first wife even though he was told it would happen.

Yes they did commit sexual immorality in the Old Testament and it always ended terribly. That's the point, they were wicked people. We are meant to look back at the Old Testament through the lens of Christ's perfection. Those in the Old Testament could not measure up to God's standard. They had to put their hope in someone greater to come. That is Jesus. Narrative isn't normative.

God told them they would be the parents of many nations, but Sarah didn't trust God would bring about an heir through her. So she told Abraham to sleep with Hagar in order to circumvent God and have the child "her way".

Dude, watching those trials with 40,000-100,000 other people live with lawyers making fun of everything was a unique experience and a good time. That's why we watched, or that's why I watched. When he stopped covering trials, I stopped watching. His streams when it was just talking with him or with a panel always erked me, in the sense that these are not my type of ppl. But I liked watching the trials with them.

Yeah watching the trials was exciting and really engaging. Unlike anything I'd seen at the time. I never expected Nick to fall victim to fame and substance abuse but even that isn't why I can't stand him. It's the way he's acted since.

Abusing scripture for self justification is the behavior of the pharisees. Pray God opens his eyes and puts it in his heart to repent and change his life. Right now, he is lost to his own ego and his worldly lusts. If you call yourself a Christian, that gives other Christians the justification and the right to judge according to the scripture. If the judgment is based on the scripture and not of the personal opinion, it's absolutely justified and worth heading.

Jesus himself didn’t speak out on things like homosexuality and polygamy because the Jews of that time were not engulfed with those sins. One to one marriage was the norm. It was only kings who had multiple wives. The story of the prodigal son was about the father not the son.
