- I’ve uploaded this track before, it sounds a lot better through this system. Got this album on CD too but on vinyl it sounds even more textured and more dynamic. There’s moments where it snaps, crackles and pops from the speakers and other moments of cavernous ambience and I love those contrasts.

I still have it, it’ll be making another appearance soon. I was planning to sell one of the turntables, just haven’t been able to decide which I prefer! It’s always the one that’s being used, until I switch them round again... Similar dilemma with speakers that I am switching in and out. There’s different strengths but neither have any glaring weaknesses that turn me off
Some people say Rega tunrtable sounds like CD player, is that right?
I wouldn’t say so, but it’s true that as you move up from Planar 1 through the range to Planar 10 the sound goes from warmer to more neutral, the timing is sharper and the noise floor drops significantly - as the reproduction becomes more accurate with less and less “bloom” and cleaner/tighter bass with little to no mid-bass smearing.
The cartridge and phono stage will play a larger part in sounding what we’d describe as a digital sound, but ultimately the recording and production quality of the vinyl itself.
I actually feel it’s the other way with the Rega CD player I have, it sounds more like their turntables than a digital source.
