RV Camping in Tofino: Can you fill your fresh water tank with a sink?

  • It is a surreal experience to dream about traveling to a location for years, plan a trip to the dream location for years and then finding yourself in your dream destination! The road from the east coast of Vancouver Island to Tofino and Uclulet is quite windy, at times narrow and there are some considerable grades to contend with.
Can you safely RV to Tofino? Well, that really depends greatly on what type of RV you have. We do not recommend this drive for very large towable RVs.
There are some really amazing beachfront RV Campgrounds in Tofino but very few. IMPORTANT to note - they book up to a year or more in advance. We first tried to reserve a spot for July in February and we were too late.
Also important to note - the campgrounds have size restrictions so know before you go!
We wished we could have been oceanfront. Crystal Cove Beach looked amazing but we were quite comfortable at Long Beach which is a golf resort. We’d never been to a campground with dry camping and not potable water/dump services and we’ve definitely never stayed in a campground that didn’t know what sizes they could hold or where to fill your tank….but as we always say, “All’s well that ends well”!!
We were incredibly fortunate to be in our Airstream and not our Solitude Fifth Wheel. We are not joking when we say we would have had to leave if we’d been in our fifth wheel. We would have never made it into the site and there was nowhere else to stay. Whew! Don’t you just love when things work out!

I remember Tofino before it was a National Park and you could camp right on the beach.

Just found your channel. Great video!. We reallly enjoyed Tofino. Travel days are fun, but exhausting for us (we are in our mid 70’s and now travel in a 37’ pusher). I carry and have used a water bandit. Very effective. If you decide to go that direction, I suggest that you also get a large hose clamp to tighten the bandit onto a non threaded faucet. Maybe one with a wing nut tightened, rather than requiring a screw driver or socket. I got quite wet the first time that I used a water bandit..

Sorry you got wet….BUT we bet you laugh about it every time you think about it! 🤣 We we’re not familiar with the water bandit until comments from this video. We love how much we learn from others. After 4 months in the Airstream (which we do love) we must admit those big DP’s look soooooo comfortable! 😉 Travel safely!!

Yes! There are some great options. When we started calling in February, they were already booked so that was on us. We didn’t realize it booked so far in advance. We were advised to book a year ahead.

Went to take the family Camping on our yearly adventure , Only to get to the the Lake and be turned around because of new legislation in BC. Now need to make online reservations months in advance,Good luck with that. BUT if your a Islamic Arabic Muslim The BC parks are now FREE at your disposal on any given weekend and Mondays no reservation required. You are now priority and us Canadians are benched.

Planning on Tofino and area in May. Hoping to get a site in Green Point campground ( Pacific Rim National Park). Reservations open in a couple of days. Hoping we are able to book a site for a week.

We so hope you get one!!! We are usually on top of all our dates but we definitely missed the window on this one. Now that we’ve been we understand why everything gets snatched up so quickly! Have the BEST time!!

We managed to get back to back reservations at both Crystal Cove RV resort and Green Point on Long Beach for end of April/ beginning of May. The advantages of booking in the shoulder season!
By the way, great looking dog!

Would a "water thief" have helped with the sinks?

Oooooohhhh! What is this magic you speak of? We really didn’t know if there was a solution but this community never fails! We will look into that!

When was your trip to Tofino? I visited on a car trip many years ago and always wanted to go back and camp. So - I was supposed to be there second week of June 2023 at Crystal Cove. The forest fire that closed the road started the day before I was supposed to drive over. Thankfully the nice people at Crystal Cove refunded all their guests who were supposed to be arriving so at least I got my 9 days $$ back. It was a HUGE disappointment since I won't have a chance again.

We LOVE our power station. You are right, they are awesome. We used both on this trip. Our current power station won’t run the AC.

We have more love in our lives than we would have ever thought to hope for and we’ve spent 7 summers traveling the continent with our fur babies. We ARE spoiled brats! 100% God help those that doesn’t realize they are as well.
