Vanessa Williams for me is the complete woman. Courageous, amazingly talented, a wonderful mother...and a timeless beauty.
For me she is a national treasure. I love her so much.
It's a travesty that she never won any of the Grammy awards she was nominated for.

I loved Daytime Divas, it reminded me of Desperate Hoysewives, but taking place within the world d of daytime tv talk shows. I hope to see Vanessa back on tv each week soon.

I love Vanessa Williams! ever since her Miss America days, so glad she got an interview with Larry [R.I.P.], he's always been one of my favs, miss him being here, still..& love his story about Frank & Lena! I always loved Frank's songs & none of us are perfect, tho lately had been reading about some not so lovely things about him & I had questions.
so it's nice to hear of him stepping up & standing up for her and all decent humans..& of course I wondered what happened after that.
and I imagine that club had black servants since so many establishments were ok with black employees & also often hired black entertainers - but racist beliefs made them stupidly not allow black patrons.
but back to Ms. Vanessa...
she's older than I am but not by a lot & she's such a grownup..also, seems 10 years older than her real age & yet is still having fun, enjoying life..and appears to have genuinely settled into what - at a distance, from the outside only, of course - settled into what seems like a happy 3rd marriage.
[& yes, she's an actress but intuitively, how she talks of him on the few, brief occasions that I've seen, it seems like she really means the lovely things that she says about him].
anyway, she's such a grownup & I think I'll never be as mature, not even when I'm 80!🤦🏾♀️😭😐🧚🏾♀️

Larry mentions "colour" in entertainment today. "Is it better?". A question I guess was worth asking if a little on the edge of being in appropriate. As a person of colour (not Black) I think it definitely is better for Black entertainers. A lot more opportunities. Good roles. No longer rellagated to playing servants or thugs. Latino's are getting more respectable roles. With Asians still trailing behind. but better for everyone. There is work.
But I feel in film...where there's a lot more money involved...Hollywood is still not wiling to bank on a Black leading man or a Chinese one. In Crazy Rich Asians...the leading man wasn't 100% Chinese. he was mixed. In a film about Asians. And it took how many years after Joy Luck Club to bring another all Chinese film to the screen?
Asians in film/TV..it's hard to include them in the topic of "is it better". While it would be great to see more representation...most Asians come from a culture that's practical. Becoming a TV or film star is super unrealistic and even frowned upon. They want their kids to become doctors, lawyers...etc. Have a few kids. Live the "American Dream"....white picket fence...so, as far as entertament goes...it's a Catch22...
Interesting VW admitted doing those photos was the impetus to her success...clearly it was...as mentioned...we forget who the last Miss America was a week later...VW needed the publicity and she used it to her advantage after that. All beautiful "talented" women I feel have to "pay their dues" one way or another in entertainment...was doing the photos also a smart way of avoiding the "casting couch"/// To avoid having to do nude scenes in films (few beautiful actresses haven't done one or two in the beginning)...

She means that when she calls a resort or a restaurant to make reservations, and she tells them her name, they make sure to reserve the best table or best room for her because she's a [beloved] celebrity.
