I bought this game when it came out for the original playstation. The musical score and the cutscenes astounded me. I was so unprepared for the level of enjoyment this game gave me that when the game went black to load a cutscene that I unlocked, I would drop my controller and eagerly await to see what my actions did and what part of the story unfolded. This was a good time to be young.
Still have the game and all original packaging for the Sega CD, as a matter of fact I also have the Sega/Sega CD plugged in for those moments that I want to go back to when I was 15! Great Game!
man... this brings back memories... this is the very first game i ever owned and played on ps1.... though somebody barrowed it and never returned it.. lol..
man... this brings back memories... this is the very first game i ever owned and played on ps1.... though somebody barrowed it and never returned it.. lol.. one of my fave game ever... i just missed this game T_T
yeah as do I, have both 1 and 2, but no ps1 or ps2, but I still have memories playing both of them, and some times sheding a few tears at the end of both
Wow I remember the first time I played this game was the original first version on the Sega CD. It was the first time I saw animation and voice acting in a game and I was amazed. It's not shown here but if you didn't press anything in the start menu there would be another preview of scenes with this song "Fighting through the darkness" that I love and think of every now and then
Memories! I remember playing this with my brother (who was my teammate and audience at the same time haha)... good times So sad that Working Designs had to lay low. They made one of the best RPGs in the PS IMHO.
I just learned that the guy who drew the art for Lunar now does the art for THE iDOLM@STER, and the 3d models in the games are based on his style. His style has changed a bit, but you can definitely see the similarity between iDOLM@STER and Lunar in the original arcade version of the game. And you can even see the similarity in the newer games if you compare it to Dragon Song (I like to pretend that game doesn't exist, but...)
I know this was a year ago, but that's not far off. In the "Making Of" CDs it's revealed they used software to pitch up the voice actors to make Nall and Ruby's voices. For Quark they used software to lower the voice.
I like how the old dragon thinks you're there for something important, only to learn you're after something you have no idea is actually a piece of dragon shit ^.^
It's my understanding that the Saturn version was the best. I had the PS1 Collector edition(and still have it!) and didn't own a Saturn in my youth, but it seem to run smoother and had better FPS on that platform.
the remake for psp.. was alright.. shorter.. the ps1 version will always be the best both silver star and eturnal blue just for its sheer story it has, i cried at the end of both games :D thanks for the uploads
wow... i sure missed out on alot with the silver star story, looks like its alot better than lunar legend... i was introduced to lunar through lunar legend... 1 of the best RPGs ive played...
Played Lunar Legend (same story but worse graphics and such and on GBA) a while back and I'm now obsessed with the Lunar series. Why is there no Lunar anime series yet?!
@karitheninja I agree with you, its like now days, the RPG designers don't learn from this game and Final Fantasy, Chrono trigger, Star ocean second story, ect... well best of luck for you friend, fyi, i need to play more of this game, lol i only got to the part in the dragons cave, (sad i know) but at least i have a good sense its a good game.
do you guys know how to skip the cutscenes? i remember when playing this game, i used to mash the buttons randomly to skip the scenes and it work, do you guys have any idea?
Yeah, kinda sorry about that rant. I just saw the cutscene with the girl singing, and its animation is actually wonderful. But still, does animation only look good in key moments? mark me down if you like. I don't have a lot to go on since I won't watch past this video for fear of...spoilers...0.0
Please use the full title to avoid confusion. The PSX remake titles were appended with "Complete". Lunar - The Silver Star Story Complete, and Lunar - Eternal Blue Complete. Or "Lunar 1 - PSX/PS1" etc.
@DevHQLessons It was never meant to be an anime series. Although I can understand the popularity of this RPG to justify what you're suggesting. Sadly, I don't think Japan has any interest in reviving an old game as an anime series. One can dream of it, though.
their is a remake version on psp which is much better than gameboy. The psp remake on psp has improved graphics. The remake is a quality game but they changed the songs, which would be okay if you could also see the original versions. You would be chaeting yourself if you did not see the original intro and boat song on the ps1 version. Both great games though.
well I'm 21 and I only got to play disc 1 of lunar 2 of the psx version back in 1990s since I was borrowing it. But anyway Luna's voice for the psx version sounds half a sleep.
Thanks to Nintendo Power, I discovered the GBA Version of this game and it is amazing! However, it obviously doesn't have any of these movies. A wannabe animator has to see this kind of stuff, you know.
The game was like most RPG with a Upside Look, This Cut scenes Was Really Cool, Due to the Capacity of the CD (640 MB) Those were really Small but Worth waiting for them to Load..... Or even if you need to change de CD to keep watching it! it was a Really Nice game, the only One that was over this one at that moment was Castlevania Symphony of the night. Most psP games Were terrible xD
This game looks pretty great. Too bad I've never played before and it's so expensive nao. Before the2 minute mark reminds me of superbook. lol ahhh...sweet anime innocence.
The animation could be more fluid, too. I mean, I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone or if it was impressive for its time or anything like that, but from what I've seen so far (and no, I'm not gonna spoil the entire game for me by seeing every cutscene) everything barely moves except in the opening song thing. The opening song thing was beautifully animated, but everything else (so far, again) is considerably less than meh, ESPECIALLY when you compare it to the opening. Sorry if it gets better l8tr
True, but it was originally made back in 1992 (the sega CD version) so it's not really clishe's, it's more that people copied the ideas later on(kinda how you can say that all Lovecraft's stories are predictable)
Mt Vagon The Sega CD translation was pretty much a parody of the original script. The original material was very serious and so working designs decided to fill it with 90'ies references and 4th wall humour so it wouldnt be too boring and it actually worked pretty well. There were many other translations later and hilariously enough the one that follows the original script to a tee is the least popular version.
Mt Vagon Pretty much every version of the game is a different take on the script but the story remains mostly the same, there are however some details that get lost between the 4th wall jokes in the Sega CD. Sega CD is the craziest one, the GBA translation is the most accurate one and the PSP version is an inbetween of Sega CD and GBA. The only problem with the PSP version is that the voice actors are different. Dunno if that answers your question.
One of the more overlooked treasures from the Golden Age of JRPGs. The genre would never be this good again...
luna's song on the ship sounds like something out of a disney movie

the best gaming era
Ahhh the 90s
Lunar is such a underrated game great story great gameplay amazing cut scenes
lunas boat song is my favorite scene from the game i absolutely hated it when game arts completely re-wrote this song for harmony
Still have the game and all original packaging for the Sega CD, as a matter of fact I also have the Sega/Sega CD plugged in for those moments that I want to go back to when I was 15! Great Game!
When were you 15? This April or last April?
they should made a movie or series of anime of this game.. it would be big and bad ass anime movie.. love the game still play till now day
This is my favorite RPG of all time!!!!!!!
My first ever jrpg It made me fall in love with anime and Jrpg's for the rest of my life !
My first step to many countless jrpg journeys
man... this brings back memories... this is the very first game i ever owned and played on ps1.... though somebody barrowed it and never returned it.. lol..

thank you for putting this together
Nall is so cute and fluffy :)
He/she (I can't recall which) reminds me of Duckie from Land Before Time, voice wise.
This music is pretty darn good.

I enjoyed this series.
I own both in original box case sets. Lunar Silver Star and Lunar Eternal Blue. I
Memories! I remember playing this with my brother (who was my teammate and audience at the same time haha)... good times
So sad that Working Designs had to lay low. They made one of the best RPGs in the PS IMHO.
Oh shit what a throw back. I nearly forgot about this.
I just learned that the guy who drew the art for Lunar now does the art for THE iDOLM@STER, and the 3d models in the games are based on his style.

Man, I had such a huge crush on Luna when I was a kid. XD
I wish they make this into a movie!
すごい!日本語の原曲より、数倍カッコいい!めっちゃ惚れました!
I love Nash's little comb trick >w<
@Reycied Mine was on Jessica. Man I love this game so much.
@ACluelessKid Yes ofcourse, these ones just happen to be taken from the PS1 version.
voice actor of Alex was one of the members of that popular boy band O-Town, how freaking weird!
I sing it while going to work or just random, this one and the ending to the second lunar game
Thanks for uploading these... now back to reading "Vane ~the story of inheritance~" manga... :D
No, it's the cutscenes from the game on the PS1.
I like how the old dragon thinks you're there for something important, only to learn you're after something you have no idea is actually a piece of dragon shit ^.^

"Luna's compassion song"
I loved this game for its story, and fightings was good two I crushed everybody but the story was wonderful

Why is there no Lunar anime series yet?!
Anyone else think Nall's actor breathed helium to do that voice?
Its supposedly something like that, and Lunar is like the moon.
Ramus da KING hahahahaha.
@Pharphain Hmm, besides Breath of fire series, which was played more then Final Fantasy 7 during that time.
@tyrant22222 I agree T-T ... I wonder if they'll ever release more games and manga from this series... an anime would be good too XD...
Actually, they just raised it... really... REALLY high...
Then they made Quarks voice really REALLY low
@karitheninja I agree with you, its like now days, the RPG designers don't learn from this game and Final Fantasy, Chrono trigger, Star ocean second story, ect... well best of luck for you friend, fyi, i need to play more of this game, lol i only got to the part in the dragons cave, (sad i know) but at least i have a good sense its a good game.
@karitheninja It's costly do such things. even simple animated openings can be costly.
do you guys know how to skip the cutscenes? i remember when playing this game, i used to mash the buttons randomly to skip the scenes and it work, do you guys have any idea?
Just press the START button.
+Sora Vanitas but why would you want to skip?!
I AGREE! In Silver Star Harmony, or even story, can you change the voices to Japanese?
Yeah, kinda sorry about that rant. I just saw the cutscene with the girl singing, and its animation is actually wonderful. But still, does animation only look good in key moments? mark me down if you like. I don't have a lot to go on since I won't watch past this video for fear of...spoilers...0.0
Hey Inever played a lunar game but I want to pick this up the only problem is I don't know to pick the PS1 or the GBA version. HELP D:
Doesn't the Saturn version have cutscenes too?
Please use the full title to avoid confusion. The PSX remake titles were appended with "Complete". Lunar - The Silver Star Story Complete, and Lunar - Eternal Blue Complete. Or "Lunar 1 - PSX/PS1" etc.

I hate watching this and remembering being 16 : (
Is the Blue Star supposed to be Earth? The way it looks almost looks similar to our world.
download the rest

So it's a chipmunk... Why is the chipmunk flying?
who know this song name pls
well I'm 21 and I only got to play disc 1 of lunar 2 of the psx version back in 1990s since I was borrowing it. But anyway Luna's voice for the psx version sounds half a sleep.
Best Storyline of ALL TIME. Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star DO NOT compare

A videogame.

As an RPG, Final Fantasy IX is better, but Lunar is the most memorable.
@wolfking222
spoiler much?
i dint knw thy have thisa hahaha
I hate that ferret's voice. It is a ferret, right?
11 people do not play single player games or good rpgs
zelda/skyrim XD
It's a good game and all, but the script is so annoying, stating the obvious.
True, but it was originally made back in 1992 (the sega CD version) so it's not really clishe's, it's more that people copied the ideas later on(kinda how you can say that all Lovecraft's stories are predictable)

But then again, the translation could be terrible for all we know.

is there a way to find the other translations?

OMFG wtf there voice sounds gay in PS1 in PSP they sound better in Lunar silver star harmony!
well i think its better if its in japenese voices!
