      @@Rhiannon011 So agree. Instead mom is lol...ing a son who is already on the precipice of danger and murder? Maybe he ran the house and there's a role reversal of sorts with his parents and they don't say no to his requests.
      How did the school allow them the privilege of leaving their son there after such a serious meeting, when for all intents and purposes, this was a code red alarm flashing? Shouldn't they have been asked to take him home and stipulate that he's not to return unless he's evaluated by a psychiatrist? Did they send out letters warning other parents about a possible threat so that they too could have made an informed decision if they prefer to have their children attend classes remotely? Very sad. 🙏🙏🙏

      I wish I could agree with your statement Ian but, truth is, Michigan is just one state. It has a Democratic governor and I’m sure some people who live there actually support what the state prosecutor is trying to do. However, I happen to live in a very red district in Michigan and I know there will be many other people, including the right-wing Republican who represents my district who will, more than likely, fight back against what they feel to be a violation of the killer’s and the killer’s parent’s constitutional rights. I’m not convinced the parents will ever be held accountable for the murders and I’m also not convinced their son will either. This case certainly won’t set a precedent for gun owners anywhere. If anything, it will show gun owners and gun users that they can do whatever they please with said gun and there will be no accountability for their actions whatsoever. That, unfortunately, is the way it is in Michigan and every other state in this country.

      This is as it should have always been. For those under 18 the parents have a responsibility to develop their child in a proper way or claim that their child is out of their control to authorities. Yes, that is a difficult call, but that is what it is to be a parent. This is not limited to guns, as a car may be used in the same fashion...know your child and act accordingly, or be culpable.

      Actually the school system and his parents failed this kid. If there were issues at school did the school address these issues with the parents. Did the parents attempt to address these issues with their son, I don't mean that buying a high power pistol for Christmas. That to me can be interpreted as a possible denial on the parents part, they're saying nothing wrong with my kid. Maybe it's time to take from the defund police issue. If the school officials concluded that this young man had mental issues, was there a mental health professional available to evaluate him. I'm not talking a gym teacher doubling as a student counselor, I am saying an actual mental health specialist. We will not see this tomorrow. School districts may have to divert funds to hire qualified licensed mental health specialist to assist in evaluating potential difficult students and coordinate with parents and schools officials of possible problems. Its a slim chance this catastrophe could have been averted. And it may be the norm in the near future that schools will be installing metal detectors and back pack and locker checks on a regular basis. These disasters are becoming a norm. At what cost to every parent will it take to stand up and say enough is enough. I am not saying ban all guns, learn from the present to secure the future safety of our children and all people. This is not a political issue it's a life and death situation.

      I see you have internet access, use it instead of whining here. The answer to your questions can be found by searching for the relevant laws which may differ by state &/or if federal law is applicable also. There are statues & precedent that you may look to for clarification as to what is required to warrant criminal indictment. You should also have the ability to look up court proceedings regarding why charges are filed &/or dropped & why. This may include redaction according to the courts decision.
      You can begin by looking up Rittenhouse's friend who is also being charged as follows;
      Dominick Black, 20, of Kenosha, was charged last fall with two counts of providing a firearm to a minor, resulting in death. He bought an AR-15-style rifle for Rittenhouse in May 2020, when Rittenhouse was too young to legally purchase a gun.
      Do you recognize the parallel... When people were killed if the shooter shouldn't have had the weapon whomever provided it is responsible. This has nothing to do with political affiliation it it's according to the laws if the USA.

      Here in Michigan schools cannot search a student’s person or backpack without “reasonable suspicion”. I’m sure there is a ton of case law dictating what is and isn’t reasonable suspicion. Whether that administration should have had reasonable suspicion to search within the context of that specific meeting, that depends on a lot of facts that have not been released. Personally, I think the shooter’s drawing sounded more suicidal than violent. Maybe I will change my mind if it’s ever released.

    • @outlawJosieFox
      @outlawJosieFox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gregorydanielscpa Even if that were true the school should also have been concerned about that possibility!! The school had a duty of care to Ethan as well as to all of the other kids in school that day and that should and must take precedent over some ridiculous privacy law,
      While I agree that it should never be lawful to stop and search anyone on the street without probable cause I do think that if you send your kid to a school then that kid should be subject to the rules of that school and that it is entirely reasonable, considering how many school kids have been murdered by their peers in your country, that the rules of the school should include the head teacher being able to search the bags and lockers of any student.
      Until you are 18 you are a child and when you are not physically with your own parent or guardian then there has to be a contract of trust with the school or care centre which means that their staff are in loco parentis or acting with the rights of the parent while the child in in their custody.
      Here in the UK even a kid showing a teacher any of Ethan's posts or texts would have led to his being pulled in and likely suspended for investigation. Why? Because they have a duty of care to every single child in their school for the time that they are physically present there. This protects the child as well as class mates and teachers.

      Lock your gun up, so that when you get ambushed, you're "F"ed. Real Smart.
      How about metal detectors at schools?
      We have the right to bare arms, but firearms are just too dangerous, everytime I watch the News, another person is shot to death. Obviously, guns are too much power. Banning guns doesn't infringe the 2nd Amendment, guns were meant for militias. We have them police and military. Civilians should only have non-lethal arms like pepper spray and tasers. Every murder everyday is evidence that guns are too dangerous for everyone. Why can't we own nukes or bazookas? Because it's too much power. Same with firearms. Nobody else needs to die because of these murder tools.
      Wouldn't need the Police if Capitalism didn't cause Wealth Gaps.
      Capitalism creates Wealth gaps, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. When poverty gets too bad, people will commit crime to survive. You can get a gun to "defend" yourself from crime, but the same system which allows guns also allows capitalism. We can end both these nightmares. Once everyone has universal Income and free Healthcare, there will be no reason to commit crime, no reason to own a gun. All the decent countries have adopted this form of government, it's only in America, an A-HOLE Nation where everything is made to victimize you. "Screw your neighbor and take all his stuff," is the American Way. American women do this thru divorce. It's no surprise that 1 out of 2 marriages ends in Divorce.
      If we had a Democratic Socialist country we wouldn't have to worry about guns, religion, or abortion ban bills.
      ☑️ Democratic Socialism is
      the Choice of a Civilized Society.
      💥 United We Stand
      * Free Healthcare
      * Free Education
      * Cancel Student Debt
      * Universal Income
      * Pro-Choice
      * No Firearms!!!
      * No Religion
      💥 Divided We Fall
      * Capitalism causes a Wealth gap,
      - Rich get richer
      - Poor get poorer.
      - Poverty leads to Crime
      - Crime leads to Mass Incarceration
      which leads to Slavery under a different name, and then History repeats itself
      The decent Democratic Socialist
      countries:
      💥🇨🇦Canada,
      💥🇩🇰Denmark,
      💥🇫🇮Finland,
      💥🇫🇷France,
      💥🇩🇪Germany,

      💥🇮🇹Italy,
      💥🇳🇱Netherlands,
      💥🇳🇴Norway,
      💥🇸🇪Sweden,
      💥🇬🇧UK.
      (Unlike 🇺🇲)
      The underlying message of Democratic Socialism is if you benefit the people, they will benefit the Country, you advance the people and the People advance the Country.
      Capitalism is the rule of Conservative tyranny, it promotes Slavery and inequality. Which is where America is right now.
      Obviously the current system ain't working, but Democratic Socialism can change all that.

    Yeah, I reckon the teacher tried to do the right thing - the school then let the teacher, that child and all the other children down by not then keeping him separated and supervised, and reporting concerns to police once the parents refused to take him.
    That kid was clearly needing help, his parents were clearly not going to help him - once the teacher alerted the school, steps should have been taken to keep him safe in a secure place under supervision, for his sake, even if he hadn't had any access to a gun. Surely it's the school's responsibility to separate and look after anyone suffering mentally like he clearly was.
    As for the parents, they deserve to be prosecuted, giving him a gun, knowing he had mental issues and then leaving him in an environment where he was clearly in distress...and then running?! They knew. Put them away.

    Kids come back to school after COVID lock down, this is just tragic. The hunted 2nd amendment rights parents flee, leaving their child behind. The child they bought the gun for and knew there were issues at school, cowards. They left their child after indoctrinating him into the culture they are now abandon. Cowards.

    Every neighborhood has a kid that hits other kids bullies other kids and is violent. And every neighborhood has a parent that lets that happen and dismisses the actions of their kid when others point out the unsocial behavior. They condone their child's bad behavior and in so doing not only support it but teach their kids its acceptable. Its time we started to hold these people accountable. Every shooter in a HS had a parent who knew their kid had access to guns and was violent. Lock them up we don't need adults training our next homegrown terrorists and protecting them all the way.

      This kid didnt look like a bully. The Kids that were interviewed from the school said he was quiet and always looked depressed. It's the quiet kids who no one likes that usually end up being the shooter. The rich and spoiled kids end up being the bullies. That's a proven fact.

    The boy’s father, James Crumbley, 45, has worked as a tech salesman and recently ran into legal trouble in Florida over child-support payments. He briefly worked as an independent contractor from February to July 2021 and was terminated. His mother penned an open letter to President-elect Donald Trump, which she posted on her blog, in November 2016. “As a female and a realtor, thank you for allowing my right to bear arms,” the letter continued. “Allowing me to be protected if I show a home to someone with bad intentions. Thank you, for respecting that Amendment.” She complained about parents at other schools where the “kids come from illegal immigrant parents” and “don’t care about learning.” It was signed, “A hard-working Middle-Class Law Abiding-Citizen who is sick of getting fu*ed in the a* and would rather be grabbed by the pu**y.” With these two as parents is anyone really surprised.

    Prosecutor is 100% right. Parents appear to be facing very serious time in prison. It is deserved, and it will send a message. Keep your guns away from minors in the household, or you will own the crime your child commits with the weapon or weapons you irresponsibly let them access.

    I believe the school needs to be held accountable as well, because they knew he was a dangerous time-bomb, (that's why they called his parents into the office two days in a row; and said he needed counseling within 48 hrs) but allowed him to stay at school!!! If they knew he needed counseling to that degree, they knew he was too dangerous to keep at school...

Mass school shootings are unique to the USA and yet it continues with gun rights are put before a kids right to go to school and get home safely. What are legislators waiting for ??? Thoughts and prayers don't work but keeping guns in a gun safe might.

      The right will scream, "their coming to take our guns"! Well, what do you expect? You don't want any training or vetting about who is responsible to have a gun. All you care about, is you have your 10 guns. My father in law, at 83, with help from family, went and bought a powerful hand gun because he thought people were " coming for our guns " he can barely walk without a cane and has no idea, or capability to actually use it. He's a bishop in a pentecostal church.
