    That old basspro spiral graphite rod is the shit man ..I have 3, 7 ft medium heavys with new line guides ..They're at least 20 years old, love em .. won atleast fifteen open tourneys with those rods and a 1/4 green pumpkin arkie head jig .. That bait never leaves those rods .. nice build man

    MaxMetal composite is used for outdoor signs. It is 3mm thick. Aluminum (very thin) clad over polystyrene. It is waterproof, can be painted, and when riveted in, becomes structural. 23lbs per 4x8 sheet and cost $64. Comes in white and black. Printed vinyl adheres to this which means you can have custom printed areas! I will be using this extensively in my reno. There is also a 6mm product that if supported below with foam, will serve as my cockpit floor. By the way, you can glue carpet etc to the surface.

    what would you say is the minimum length the rod locker needs to be before you can't get a rod in? Im at the point where I need to figure this out and don't want to end up with an unusable length.

    hey Michael? I see u also use angled aluminum inside of the traditional 2x4s ppl do all the time, but I decided to do it as well to my v hull, to not put as much weight as u would with more wood, I'm just wondering how thick of angled aluminum u use with rivets? I want have a deck solid enough that wouldn't bend or twist while standing on it. please if you would reply and let me know if be vary greatful. thanks hope to hear from you soon. take care

    I have a lowe 15ft roughneck and I am going to be putting in a rod locker. My question is that the sides of the boat come in on a angle inside the boat. Should I I cut the spot where the locker is going to be ? Or do I just build off that slant and square it up? Thanks for any input

    hay michael i was wondering if you have ever done a build with a steering column ?

  • @johnsemar107

    can I use 1/4" as a sub floor or should I use 3/8"? I will not be standing on it, only resting the totes on top and frame attached to hull on top.

  • @johnsemar107
    @johnsemar107 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    how do I keep the wood on the hull side attached? won't it move?

  • @aaronshields8835
    @aaronshields8835 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    you use foam for structure support no wood. I'm asking cause to me it looks like you have the deck floating only supported by foam. i was just wondering if that's enough.

    Do you have any vids on the electrical setup of any of your boats? That build looks sick!

    Ho long is the open and close space that you use for rod lockers? What do you plan for in length? I have really enjoyed your videos. I use your amazon store to purchase products I need for my build.

    is the light on the rod holder going to be on/off with the lid opening/closing? if not, its an idea..

    • @videosunrelated1883
      @videosunrelated1883 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      when I get back home ill post another comment for the switch. but the switches im talking about just require maybe a 1/2 hole, and some place for the wires to go. [though I see how wiring it up now could be an issue] as the lid falls onto the switch, it depresses the switch, turning the light off. and when it opens it up, the switch has a spring inside and turns the light on. I'll get a part number or name.

      sorry, I don't have a facebook account any more, and have no interest in creating one ever again.
      www.ebay.com/bhp/door-jamb-light-switch
      Automotive switches can get wet, my original idea for the switch, does not provide me confidence that if it where to get wet, it would survive.
      and at least you know it will work on a 12v system.

    is 1/8th angled aluminum framing thick enough for support?

    • @carlosr2825
      @carlosr2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Lopez should I go with lesser thickness or no, bc I feel if I go thinner the aluminum is going to bend no matter what?

    • @carlosr2825
      @carlosr2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Lopez where can I get the structural grade, bc to me the Home Depot doesn't have them I don't think bc I've even asked 1 of the workers there and he seemed confused, and he asked someone else but he pointed me to some by the pvc piping area that is 1/8 thick 1x1in angles and 96in in length those ones at like $21 a piece

    • @carlosr2825
      @carlosr2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      they also had squared angled tubing but I didn't think that would hold unless I framed and supported it more bracing

    • @carlosr2825
      @carlosr2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Lopez hmm IDK what u mean by metal shops...

    • @carlosr2825
      @carlosr2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      even I thought it was too expensive for 96 in of plain aluminum... I was WTF that's more than scrap metal prices....

    I just need clarification you say to join your patreon page to get detail on how u do your build but you put the same details on TH-cam Facebook so why join patreon and pay a fee while everyone gets the same on TH-cam and Facebook for free?

    All of the aluminum framing looks hard and I’m pretty sure my 14 year old self is unable to accomplish it.
