Appreciate the attention to detail in recreating this tribute car from one of the best car chase movies from the ‘70s! From the Internet… found this… What happened to the Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry charger? After the film was released in 1974 the cars were sold off. One was purchased from the studio by a resident of Sun Valley, California, and to this day is sitting in that person's backyard, still wearing the Citron Yella paint, black stripe, and mag wheels. The Helephant is awesome! I just think this car should get the 440. Maybe a Fast and Furious Charger replica should get the Helephant with a blower attached to it?👍
I used to pick up 35mm film and deliver it to Deluxe or Technicolor to process overnight. They used chemicals... not sure how much they could process the color of actual cars that wouldn't affect the rest of the footage.
Will, I love ya man, but to call Y2 Sunfire Yellow a "horrible color" just kills me. I love my Y2 1969 Super Bee!!! 🙂I think the yellow and black is a great color combo for a Bee!!!
grew up 2 miles from a Chrysler plant and 55 miles away from Tony dainstino's shop...I loved molar, but they always let me down...I loved that 66 caprice in dirty Mary crazy Larry too
I've always wanted to do a replica of the Dirty/Crazy car just because the General Lee is so overdone. That, and I love slot mags. Plus, I still quote the movie too; which gets me many odd glances.
Just paint it flip flop citron yella and yellow, and if somebody doesnt like the green, have them move 2 feet to different lighting and they will see it in yellow. I grew up thinking it was yellow because thats the only color I ever saw watching it on television, but if it truly was citron yella, then everybody is happy if it gets a trick paint job. .
I still have one of the original Steve Martin albums i used to listen to it over and over as a young kid Mark and iv seen Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry soooo many times i don’t think you put enough green in it it only reflect yellow a little bit needs to be sublime green with a hint of yellow
Another movie that's becoming a Mopar cult classic is Speedway. People across the globe are asking, "What happened to Elvis's #6 Dodge Charger with a 426 Hemi. Big name NASCAR drivers are in that racing movie. People are telling networks, even movie theatres, across the land to play "SPEEDWAY ".
Sthick is the word you're looking for. He's been doing it for years and won't stop neither will the comments saying they don't like it yet still watch.
During disassembly a A-833 4 speed transmission was clearly visible, yet the car has a floor pan for a floor shifted automatic with a console? What gives?
I think the Charger was Repainted before Shooting the Movie , I've been around to Shows Chryslers at Carlise in Pennsylvania, Mopar Shows in Southern California, I've never seen a 69 Charger in that color Yellow with the black sword down the sides with 440 at the back of the stipes..
I hate to even admit it but when he asks if you’ve seen a movie you probably should have. Especially this movie. lol. I must be old if Marks antics make sense to me.
@@CycolacFan The two 1969 Chargers had automatics on the steering column, air-conditioning was also on both auto cars. The 1968 was only in one scene for a few seconds next to a police car. No way to identify what engine it had.
@@american4736 It was also in the scene where they drive into the walnut grove after hitting the truck, it had been modified with 69 rear lights at that point though

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry was a great movie and I loved it, but my favorite movie from the 70s was the 1974 was the original movie Gone in 60 seconds H.B. Should have put the correct engine in this car Yea that is what your show is all about but yea we know it’s all about the money for your profit. Money money money so you can afforde a correct one .
I respectfully disagree. It is Citron Yella. Citron is a very cool color. It is yellow but has a lot of green in it. At night and in the shade it does look more green.
@@american4736 I saw the movie when it originally came out and it was lime green. I purchased a 1970 Charger that was lime green because of this movie and it looks exactly like this in the different times of day depending upon the amount of sunlight. In addition, my friend has a Citron Yellow 1971 Charger and that is yellow. Remember, Worman is colorblind.
This is one of the scripts from the movie, when the Charger struck an old pickup. "Did a Dodge Charger do that?" "Yeah, umm... well I think so. All I saw was a yellow flash."

I have never commented on the content of any youtube video or expressed criticism about how or what the creator does. If I don't like it, I simply unsubscribe and move on. This is a first and different. I have religiously followed GYC for years now. I am a dyed in the wool Mopar muscle car lover and have been that way since a teen in the sixties. For a long time I've tolerated Mark's antics and waited patiently for the real content of the show to return. But I've finally had enough. Just this past Sunday the creator of one of the most popular streaming series "Yellowstone" ruined the entire perception of 5 seasons by making it about himself. Ego, maybe even narcissism., who knows. I wanted to scream at the TV for him to stay in his lane and let the actors be actors and gratefully accept his millions for being a creator of multiple successful series. So I am done with GYC regretfully. I'm tired of wading through nonsense to get to the content I want to see. Just like the creator of Yellowstone, he can do whatever he wants..it's his intellectual property. GYC can do the same but I'll move on to something else
If you are going to make a replica of the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Charger with a modern engine why don't you put a 100 speed auto trans behind it, slam it, bag it, put 22" diameter rims on it with rubber band tires, and give that replica a They/Them pronoun. Real men drive 1000 HP engines with a 100 speed auto trans, and tires that have 1/16" side walls so everybody can get stuck behind them pulling into a parking lot at 1/2 MPH so they do not pop their tires.
Saw it at the theater with my dad in 74, I was 9 and my dad drove a 68 GTX with a 440 super commando. Loved the movie.
The car in the movie had a 440 in it said on the quarter panel they should put the 440 in it
With all this detail to the movie car why didn’t they just put a nice 440 in it?
because he is a drama queen trying to be a o.c. choppers copy

A friend of mine built a clone of the car.And he had Peter Fonda signed the dashboard.
"Hemi" Torque boxes were also on convertibles in 1969.
I just so happen to see DMCL the other day.I had not seen it in years never disappointed.Reminded me of being a kid and watching it.Good times

That's not what the customer wants.

All that horse power and you aren't up grading the brakes and suspension. ! Sounds like a death trap

Any progress on the Vanishing Point Challenger project ?
They would've beat the train, if they wouldve had that engine

Mark is a legend. Love this guy. Greatest car show on television.

Great car Sir and yes indeed saw the movie in my younger days just like Vanishing Point another great Mopar movie Sir keep up the good job!!
What Film stock was the movie shot in ? that tell you the answer lol
There is a behind the scenes photo of the cast sitting on the hood of the Charger. That will be the correct color !
2005 Blu Ray apparently has the true color of the Charger. 1 Charger was wrecked. The 2 other Chargers were sold to private parties.
I am a huge fan of sublime like yours in the pic.
@user-tu1ee6dc5f Thank you. I love Sublime and Black. On some cars it's outstanding. The Challenger is one car it was made to go on.
Right after they roll it off stage it develops a horrible "TICK,TICK,TICK,TICK" and spins a cam bearing.

citron yellow
The 1971 Dodge brochure actually called the color Citron Yella. Doesn't really matter, just some trivia.
Mark made a huge mistake when he was talking about the movie car. The real DMCL Charger was automatic on the tree, not the console.
They had three cars, different transmissions. One stick, one auto, one air conditioned, the third was a 1968. So either is correct.
