Thrawn is very smart. He wants to destroy the rebels in the very unique way. “To defeat your enemies, you must learn them.” That’s exactly what makes Thrawn a great and scary villain.

The fact that he is unbeatable in his "strategy game" and that he is able to put things together so quickly makes him the perfect villain.

His knowledge and calm thinking is what makes him scary. He is not the unhinged crazy villain he is the logical one who adapts and sets up traps for his enemy.

When Kallus saw the reaction when Zeb was rescue by his friends and how happy they were to see him, but for him to get nothing but a cold shoulder....I think that probably sealed the deal. Zeb started the doubting for him when on the moon.. It was finished when he got back to the Star destroyer. Back in season 1 when he saw The Inquisitor behead the two imperial officers, you could see the shocked in his face. It was a long time coming.

The voice actor for Ryder Azadi is Clancy Brown. He has done loads of other stuff: Savage Oppress in Clone Wars, Mr Krabs in SpongeBob SquarePants, the mean main prison guard in The Shawshank Redemption (one of my favourite ever films), the baddy in The Highlander (another of my favourite films), … He is quite an actor …

9:28 He possess a keen strategic mind and a deep understanding of his adversaries. Through careful observation, analysis of their actions, and an understanding of their motivations, enables him to deduce potential outcomes and anticipate their moves. In the case of the rebels, he would have likely studied their past alliances, their patterns of behavior, and any information gathered through intelligence sources. By connecting the dots and evaluating the situation, he could have deduced the possibility of the rebels finding unexpected or expected allies and adjusted his tactics accordingly.
For instances, other neutral or enemy parties of the Empire suddenly joined or helped the Rebels such as Clan Wren (Sabine), the Protectorate (Fenn Rau), Vizago, Lando, the Pirate (Hondo), etc. Remember, the previous episodes how they often got help by others who aren’t even part of the Rebellion? Surely, the Empire did make reports of them seen together. If not together, they can still report both or more parties were involved in the same particular area/place at the time.
For example, a smuggler & a cell of rebels were spotted in this town at around 3 o’clock on the same day. Or often I notice based on reports I keep getting are often around or near this town. How many times have they been there & what are the chances likely for them to return? Furthermore, if you know a particular place or facility well, looking at the map, how long do you think it takes to get from point A to point B? If I were running, walking or using fast mobile vehicle to that destination & because I’ve done it myself I know how many minutes it takes to get from here to there. Calculating time with accurate info.
Therefore, I can appropriately determine the needs by assessing their attacks & movements which does bring up questions. Why? For what purpose? Stealing our supplies & using it for their own? Possibly using it against us. Or are they trying to find out our plans for projects being developed or our locations of military installations/facilities? Or simply trying to send a message to the Empire or its citizens or both? Essentially giving them their next priorities leaving us to figure out what it is that the rebels are trying to do.

Thrawn is a terrifying man because he removes his personal ego from everything he does. He studies the art made by Sabine to under her tactics as a fighter. He kept that piece of Hera's culture to draw her out. He has read every official and personal report about Kanen as well as Zeb. Thrawn is a master in the art of war that should have been in charge of the entire army, would have crushed the rebellion if he had. He is my favorite Empire officer.

I just wanna point out since you opened with it. Rebels got alot of flack at first for having too much "filler" episodes, like you said not alot of "earth shattering moments" in many of the episodes. But alot of things that may seem "filler" at first will comeback and have alot of impact later on, things you never really thought would be relevant again. Its worth paying attention to even smaller details since alot of them get bigger payoffs in later episodes or even later seasons. There is alot more depth to Rebels than first meets the eye.
Love your reactions BTW, i wasnt implying that you dont pay attention or anything, was just speaking in general.

The opening comments are kinda a strange take. The crew is running around infiltrating imperial ships and facilities engaged in life or death action every episode. Ezra and Sabine dont even have a normal social life because they are teenage soldiers wanted by the empire as criminals.

3:10 the voice actor is Liam O'Brien, he sounds familiar because he also plays Lieutenant Lyste (the imperial guy standing between Pryce and Kallus at 4:56, the one who was in charge of Leia's ships during her episode).
Liam O'Brien also has a few prominent roles in anime and video games: his two biggest roles are probably as Gaara in Naruto and Yasuo in League of Legends.

The Chiss Ascendancy, Thrawn’s government/faction, what’s their culture?
The Chiss Ascendancy, a prominent faction in the Star Wars Expanded Universe/Legends continuity, is a society composed of the blue-skinned Chiss species. The Chiss are known for their disciplined and highly organized society, emphasizing loyalty, duty, and strategic thinking.
Their culture values intelligence, knowledge, and the pursuit of excellence. They place a strong emphasis on military prowess and strategic planning, with a well-developed hierarchy and a meritocratic system where individuals advance based on their abilities and achievements.
The Chiss have a structured social order, with families playing a significant role in their society. Respect for authority and adherence to rules and protocols are highly regarded. They are known for their calm and composed demeanor, often appearing cold and calculating.
The Chiss Ascendancy is protective of its territory and maintains a policy of isolationism, preferring to remain separate from the affairs of the wider galaxy. They are highly skilled in the areas of intelligence gathering and exploration, with a powerful navy and formidable military forces.
It is important to note that while the Chiss Ascendancy is a well-established concept in Star Wars literature, its depiction and details may vary across different sources and media within the Star Wars Expanded Universe/Legends.

Kallus was a child who grew up during the Clone Wars and was raised seeing the Empire through its official propaganda: The Empire was a stabilizing force that would bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy and would not allow the atrocities of the Clone Wars to be repeated. If the Empire's actions were a little severe, it was only in service to the greater good. In his eyes rebels were, at best, misguided idealists blind to the harm they were causing the citizens or were, at worst, outright criminals and terrorists masquerading their crimes of greed and bloodlust with false claims of political ideology.
His encounter with Zeb shook him out of his ideological complacency and pushed him to see things in a different light. More importantly, Zeb put him on the spot about Kallus' admission that he didn't ask questions. It's likely he followed Zeb's advice to started looking into the matters he never asked questions about (if for no other reason than to reassure himself that he was right to trust the Empire), and given his own skills and connections within the ISB, discovered truths that knocked his rose-colored glasses off for good. He learned that it was the Empire indulging in crimes of greed and bloodlust and it was the rebels (at least the ones Zeb was connected to) trying to protect the people of the galaxy.

"To defeat the enemy, you must know him" - this is Thrwn's principle
It's worth watching what he does. First, he tells Pryze about the spy to see her reaction. (He didn't necessarily suspect her) The point here was to make Pryze think that anyone Thrawn talks about a Spy is innocent. So she'll be looking for a spy, but in the wrong place, which won't stop a real spy from doing his job. And that will make Thrawn's job easier.
Then he told about the spy to the much more suspicious Kallus and here he was interested in the reaction but also added him to the group of people who know about the spy.
So Kallus could take it like this: He doesn't suspect me because he tells me.
And why Callus betrayed the Empire.
    Crimes of the Empire
The Empire used him as a tool that can be replaced

How you find saboteurs in your Imperial Ranks?
Finding saboteurs in the Imperial ranks can be a challenging task, but there are several strategies that can be employed to identify them. Here are some possible approaches:
    1. Background checks: Conduct thorough background checks on all personnel, including their personal history, work experience, and any criminal record. This can help identify individuals who may have a history of subversive behavior.
    2. Tight control: Monitor access to sensitive areas and equipment, and restrict access only to personnel who are authorized and have a legitimate need to be there.
    3. Watch for unusual behavior: Train personnel to watch for signs of unusual or suspicious behavior, such as excessive interest in sensitive areas or equipment, unexplained absences, or sudden changes in behavior or attitude.
    4. Surprise inspections: Conduct surprise inspections of facilities and equipment to check for any signs of sabotage or tampering.
    5. Counterintelligence operations: Conduct counterintelligence operations to gather information on potential saboteurs and disrupt their activities.
Overall, maintaining a culture of vigilance and discipline among Imperial personnel is essential to detecting and preventing sabotage.
5:50 He’s making sure they’re functional. As he said that there has been an increase malfunction rate in one of their war factories. Instead of workers just making them they need to test. It’s like making sure it’s not a scam. You know… cheap & defective products for example. After all, it’s the Empire’s expenses to develop them. Having sabotaged vehicles will make their military personnel unsafe & may cost them their lives resulting further delays or failure to complete their tasks as well as reducing their combat effectiveness to strengthen other areas.

@@LuchtLeiderNederland Yes. I don’t see why not. No harm done. Except for the last paragraph, I made that myself. At times, I add in mine or mix it cuz not all info are accurate depending what’s shown/said. It’s still new & I’m having fun with it. No bad intentions ofc. I learned it recently that there was such a thing. However, there are cons which are obviously known for & I am concerned about it if you what I mean. Those are common negative factors that’s nothing special.
For those wondering if the info are correct. They are. They make sense, are logical & reasonable explanations. I would know if it was wrong & to me it doesn’t need to be verified. If I knew it was wrong then I wouldn’t post/said it in the first place. However, I’d be glad if someone could point it out politely & calmly if there’s something wrong with what’s said/shown. I do fancy strategy & tactics. My dream at first was to become a military officer in the US back then. I studied & love things related to war, military, tech, etc. Meaning I would know if there was something wrong if I knew something didn’t make sense in those lines cuz I’ve studied them. Also given not everyone is knowledgeable regarding those stuff. I want to always make sure that the others understand that.

Thrawn can be ruthless at times but only when absolutely necessary, he's no Darth Vader and usually prefers other means to obtain loyalty. But as Lothal is accutely being infiltrated by rebels, he sends a message "Be warned, I'm on your trail"kind of thing.
TIE Defender first appeared in the PS1 game Rebel Assault 2. Contrary to other TIE fighters, it had shields ! It's way better to fight against Rebels than usual TIEs. If only the Empire made lots of those instead of stupid and costly superweapons...
